Crashcrash,

I forgot about the problems you've had for a year or so with your hand. Don't take any offense, it wasn't intended to be directed to anyone, just some more of my maybe misdirected sillyness.

sorry,
Dave / Choppersrule

Crash: I see Kyle Stacy's dad was visiting my CP-Pro Idle up crash video again here this afternoon? It's already three pages back now...He was there for an hour again ? Can't see what would interest him, as it's boring as he## to me ! Go figure........Makes a guy wonder though...
I would be happy to help clear it up. Tell me where to find the video and I will tell you why I was there for an hour. Right now...I dont recall watching any CP video for an hour.

ORIGINAL: J-MICHAEL
I remember reading an old post somewhere on this forum, where Mrassm was chatting with Kyle Stacy's dad about some changes to the head on a CP-PRO...RSTACY, said that Kyle took out the "O-Rings" and replaced them with bearings that were the same size as the one's that are in the blade grips...Anyone know how the CPP would react to doing this, before I try for an experiment, and burn my thumbs ? I also would think a step washer would maybe need to be in place against that bearing, of course with the ridge towards the bearing . No long stories required, just a little hint to me if any of ya might happen to know how the heli would react in doing so, or if I would even notice anything, considering It's mainly in a hover, and not performing extensive 3-D maneuevers...(In time though)...lol.. Alright, good day gents, Jeff
You are correct in that a step washer is required to prevent the grips from binding. You don't see much difference in a hover other than it isn't quite as docile. The main reason it is done is to stiffen up the rotor head and increase cyclic response.

Hi men........ just popping in to give another report in the life of one heli bum. The neighbor came over today and we flew our lil CX2's in my living room for a bit. He is so enamoured with my Xtreme 180's I put in it. So, just to liven things up a bit I pulled out the ORIGINAL Blade CP and fired it up for him in the front room. Pitch was way off as I had last had it connected to the Futaba 6EXH TX which has since taken a dump on me. so.......... I stole the crystals out of Ricks Gift CP and used his stock TX. Well a turn and a half later on all 3 servo links I had a nice gentle hover at 5/8ths throttle and dialed in the out of level swashplate using the subtrims. Men, this heli hasn't seen the floor of my living room for about 5 months. Hovering in the middle of my ever diminishing living room space made me realize just how much I miss the simpler aspects of these Blade CP's. Simple is as simple does I guess....... The HBK2 will most likely sit on a shelf for a while until I feel it deserves my attention again. My new trainer for FFF and yippie flights has once again moved back to the Blade CP. The ORIGINAL blade CP. Bling........ super fancy motors.......pffffffffffffffttttttttttt. Gimme stock and a lipo to really heat that motor up and I am all over it. There may be a 10 tooth in the CP's near future......wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.....(as originally stated on Page 1 of this very thread) Blade CP!!!!!!!!!!!

I am ALSO checking in for a bit. I am home with a damaged (not broken) knee until next Wed. Surprisingly, I connected with a man in FS-ONE who took a lot of interest in my difficulties. He turned my opinion about the HorizonHobby HELP DESK completely around. He stayed with me, connected himself INTO my PC directly, and after [HOURS ! of work] now my FS-ONE SIM works well. I now have the T-REX in the simulation and it is ACTUALLY SCARY..... this heli is as slippery and unsteady as the CP is on the same sim.I immediately thought of how Mr.DAVE CHOPPERS sold and got rid of his own... Lots of work to be done : practice, practice, etc etc.... have to wait for the next PATCH because there are issues with the TREX sim. ( the startup is not steady, etc ) Am flying the two HBK 2 and quite well. Skinned the blade tips while trying to hover in nose-in position. Replaced the blades : small weight difference of .01gram between them and now it's no good. Can't imagine a difference of .01 gram can register a difference, but will look into that. Weather is holding good here in Houston, so Saturday the RAPTOR gets taken out to the field and maybe we'll get an expert's help, if there is one there. STarted up the PRO and it has COMPLETELY lost it's mind. It jumps around, it shakes, it's gone totally demented. Strange because last week, during the last flight it was quite close to OK ...ARROW's repaired CX-2 flies almost every day. I smile because it reminds me of the Battery Bunny; it just goes and goes and goes.... Still all original, (motors) back to FEB 2007.....except for the big repair that the ARROW made for me.
Just to say that I am still here, lurking every day. Will probably be low for the next four weeks. Daughter + grandbaby arrive on Monday for a stay until DEC 08... so the four weekends will be taken up by looooonnnggg visits to WalMart, Target, Nike, etc etc..... and no chance for heli toys.......stay WELL, all of you .... I will be reading, everyday...... RICK

Wow.......... that really made my day Rick! That is what i wanted to do for you, make you smile and enjoy your lil CX2. Up until just a few minutes ago I was really having a crappy day. Job issues, lost mail and a semi fight with the contractor which led to my packing up all my tools and leaving the jobsite early today. I stopped and got myself a jug of hooch to wash away some anger but reading Ricks post just changed the whole day for me. TY my friend, you actually made me smile and blush a little. It was a real pleasure to work on your heli and get it dialed in for you. And I would do that for you anytime.......as well as any of the other BOB's. The ORIGINAL CP will get a lil TLC tonite and get dialed in again. I forgot how much I like that lil heli!

Kinda dead....hers some more pics after working on it:

A very successful flight around the front yard. Wind had dropped to nothing but it's about 43 deg making for a bit uncomfortable ordeal. Very happy with the HBKII wearing the Huey fuselage. I did a lot of work re-enforcing the tail boom and it's solid now. I still think that running 275mm main blades is not right. I've flown the stock HBKII with CP-Pro stock blades (220mm?). The 275's kinda act like they're too short. I've got 295mm inbound and I hope they will help. Per Rusty, I believe 300mm would be pushing it too hard. I also feel the 1500mAh 15C's that I'm running are BARE MINIMAL. Personally, I think this outfit needs 2200mAh 20C's. It's a project...for sure.

Yes, it is a bit dead around here.
When not in our ORIGINAL THREAD, where are you hanging out at ?
Other places, to learn other things ? - I see CRASHCRASH and ARROWNAUGHTIC are online, but not HERE !
This morning having planned for the RAPTOR start-up : arrived at the R/C field and found 50+ cars = 100 + people present. Had forgotten it was planned for the TOYS FOR TOTS show.
Experts glanced at the RAPTOR and promised to get to it sometime in the future. Maybe in December ?--The heli is in two parts and I am not planning to set it up by myself.
So: came home and hovered the HBK 2 yellow; the white seems to be unbalanced and needs a CRASHCRASH feathering shaft. I don't have 5.5mm thingys so it has to wait.
With the yellow HBK2 I finally was able to try the new tray holding the transmitter. As I expected, the tray works VERY WELL and my control of the flight is much improved,
having removed the weight of the transmitter from holding it with the hand. I recommend a tray for heli flying. it works for me.. I find that the more I practice, the more
tense and nervous I become. Is this natural ? for everybody? ... the CP-PRO is a total washout : it went from a good/fair flyer to a big nofly overnight, Don't know what went wrong overnight ?
The FS-ONE sim is working great, so I am practicing on that.

Crashcrash,

Great Pics. Sounds like you're getting there, just alot more testing, with bigger blades and a kick ***** battery.

Myself, as you know. I've got two bad servos, one with stripped gears and the other that the internal motor never stops runnig, regardless of stick position. This is usually what happens when you hear a humming noise in the servo, it can't find center/stick
postion.

Sponge Rick,

Sorry to hear you were not able to get the Raptor going today. And, any help from the experts until December, what's up with that?
Yes, it is pretty dead right now. I don't hang out at anyother threads, rarely check others. I've been busy checking out needs for the LOGO 10 I'm building. It's a winter project, so I'm in no hurry on that. As far as where abouts of LOOKYJ, he's probably busy with work, many hours.

TREX: Why did I get rid of the Trex? Make a long story short/long. The Trex 450 is the most popular heli world wide. So, it's not the heli, it's me. It had more power than I anticipated for my type of flying. Normally, I fly in the basement, garage or in my front or backyard. Not enough area, for such a powerful heli. The HBK2 is just perfect for me under those conditions. I'm not one to pack up and travel a great distance to fly, just me.

Now, you may ask, why am I building a LOGO 10 with a four foot main blade diamater. That's for next year, Liz(the wife) and I are moving to the country with lots of land, so area won't be a problem. When the LOGO is completed, until we move, I'll take it to my daughters place in the country. If the weather is bad, she has a Barn that you could fly anything in. It's about 150 x 60 with a 30 foot ceiling. It's HUGE. Like the good old days.

Love ya Rick,

Dave / Choppersrule

Bummer you walked into a benefit fly. Yeah....you gotta get the feathering shaft replaced on the white one. As far as the CP-Pro...they do that. One minuet good, next minuet bad. Glad you like the tray. I knew guys in the flying club that swore by them (planks), I could never get comfortable with it when I tried one. As far as hanging out and info....NewVersion thread and the HBKII tuner thread....but not much anymore. There's quite a bit of talent on the tuner thread for the HBKII but this is home. Haven't heard from LookyJ in quite a spell...he might be busy. Today would have been a GREAT day for the Corsair....wished I had one. I just get bored with the glider so I don't fly it...it just sits.

Rick,

Forgot this in my other post. Yes, you will find yourself getting more tense or nervous at different times. Just part of a big leaning curve, you'll find yourself thinking that, "I don't want to crash and break something" and that will bring on the nerves in a heartbeat.
Calm down and havesome fun. It's a great hobby, you now that.

Another great turbine heli, base price is $7,000. Wow! Great video, at the begining check the blade tracking, right on.
The bigger the heli, tracking and blade balancing are imperitive.

Didja see that....the woosie wouldn't take off or land from the ground....he used a room rug. I feel upstaged too...I just got NAV lights, he's got NAV and anti collision lights too as well as a forward mounted search light. It's a REAL NICE unit though.....

LMAO again, the woosie's room rug was probably a heirloom costing several C-Notes. LOL I couldn't even imagine having a turbine heli, that would be totally an awesome experience. Hmmmm, I am moving to the country.

Rick, / Sponge,

Enjoy your family and freinds first, then your other likes(helis?) Watch and take care of your knee, don't push it.
As far as the Trex making sense to you, remember, you go out to the fields, with alot of space. I don't like to travel. Again, just me.

DON'T EVER, be concerned about being behind the learning curve. Everyone, advances at a different rate. Sooo, not to worry.

Not to worry about LOOKYJ, he'll be back. He's one busy kinda guy, with work and all.

Turbine helis are something, may think about one, when me and Liz move to the country with alot more space.

Love ya Rick,

hey rick, i like the new name you came up with for yourself spongeBOB =) that's quite creative =)

I haven't been able to spend much time on here lately, and actually haven't been able to do much flying. Anyways to make a long story short I got an ICS100 (same as the ICS 50, just rated for about double the amps, figured might as well since it only cost me 1.30 more and doesn't weigh any more). Anyways I've bee having trouble with this g90 setup on the stock 3 in 1 so I decided to by pass it with the ICS, and it works absolutely great and holds the tail very well, even on punch outs (probably less than 15 degrees or so for a full punch out on a 4100kv brushless setup), the only problem is that the ICS doesn't SHUT OFF. I landed the heli and was walking up to it to unhook the battery and the tail motor started spinning up without any input, and the thing flipped over =( No real damage fortunately, but it's kind of annoying to hold the rudder all the way to the left while I have the heli on the ground for a break, or while I am trying to unhook the battery. Does anyone have any work arounds? Or can someone tell me what's wrong with my setup with the 3 in 1?

The problem with the 3 in 1 setup is it works great most of the time, but once in a while it will just drift over 90 degrees out of wack and no amount of rudder input can correct it.

Thanks =)

BTW choppers those turbine heli's are HUDGE!

Sponge Bob... lol, that's a great one!

not to worry, I'm still around. As Choppers and Crash thought, I've been VERY busy with work. Today is actually my first day off this month, and yesterday was 15 hour day starting at 3a. Needless, to say I haven't had much time for helis.

However, TODAY... I plan on getting some HELI TIME

couple projects in the mix:

First and FOREMOST, to finish Rick's TREX!
second to finish the fine tuning of my SA,
and finally, figure out my Blade CP Pro dilemma....

and with this I ask the help of our brothers

The question is to whether or not to keep or sell my Blade CP Pro?

Over the past year, the CP Pro has been a great heli! the ONLY reason I'm considering selling, is my LiPo packs no longer hold a charge and am wondering if it would be better to sell her off and invest in a new heli (TREX 600) or get some new packs....

any thoughts?

Mrasmm, (That's #16, but whose counting)

Rex,

Can you post a picture? Also, is the ICS programable? Most ESC's are, or am I missing something?

Work around: Use a small rubber band to hold the stick to the left. (Just being silly, j/k) At this time I'm clueless.

Thanks =)

BTW choppers those turbine heli's are HUDGE!

LookyJ,

Blade CP Pro or Not Blade CP Pro, that is the question. I'll just throw out some ideas, but the final decision will of course be yours.

1) Drop a C-Note and get a couple good batteries for the Pro.

2) Sell the Pro and put that income to the Trex 600.

3) Keep the Pro and get a Trex 600

My key thought is, that if you sell the Pro, the monies from it would hardly buy a Lipo for the Trex 600, and you are minus a heli.

IMHO, if you enjoy the pro, keep it and get the batteries.

First and FOREMOST, to finish Rick's TREX!
second to finish the fine tuning of my SA,
and finally, figure out my Blade CP Pro dilemma....

and with this I ask the help of our brothers

The question is to whether or not to keep or sell my Blade CP Pro?

Over the past year, the CP Pro has been a great heli! the ONLY reason I'm considering selling, is my LiPo packs no longer hold a charge and am wondering if it would be better to sell her off and invest in a new heli (TREX 600) or get some new packs....

any thoughts?

aaahhhHHHH the LOOKYJ is baaaaaaaaaaaack ( like a GREMLIN )

keep the PRO - buy batteries, they are not all THAT expensive - for the 600 you can count on dishing out more CCCCCC's than any wallet should hold in one day.

what in the world kind of work doyado ? 15 hours shifts ? work in a backed-up BURGER KING ? [:'(]

DIDJA READ ABOUT THE CHOPPERSR' selling his trex? now I am ALL SHOOK UP thinking the same thing will happen to this Ole PHOOL......\If it were TOO MUCH for the Choppers' t'will certainly be TOO MUCH FOR MOI.[]
trying to practice with the HBK 2 but the BELT keeps falling off the guiding rollers. Have posted a request on how to FIX that problem, at the HBK 2 thread.
I am really happy to see you around again.

Rick / Mr. Sponge,

Maybe you misunderstood, I sold the Trex because it was to much power for the small area I fly at home, and wasn't able to get it's full benefits of being a great heli, and as mentioned, I'm not the kinda guy to pack up and head to the field. Too, in a year, I'll have my own field when me and Liz move to the country. The Trex is a fine heli, the Raptor that you have will make the Trex seem underpowered. Just take it one step at a time.

Love ya Rick,

Turbine helis............ at that cost one should be a licensed pilot and get one of those bench flight controls. Seems I saw that somewhere in this thread. You actually sit in a chair that has a yoke for pitch, a collectve grip to the side and rudder pedals. Some heli flight training school was using it as a training tool. My only dissapointment with it was that it was stationary flat on the ground. Would have been neat to see it rigged up like those IMAX rides. Able to tilt forwards backwards.....sidewards....... just no inverted....lol.
Looks like everyone is plugging along. The scale huey is looking good crash. the hovering vids of it look like you are definately gonna have your hands full with it. I will be looking for a Bell 222 for the HBK I think. Looky............ I agree with choppers when it comes to the CP Pro...... hang on to it and get a couple of the CSRC batterys found [link=http://www.commonsenserc.com/product_info.php?cPath=37_31&products_id=45]HERE[/link] . I think you will find them plenty good for the Pro.
Dave, that country living sounds very appealing the more I see you posting about it. I moved here from a remote area. I lived right on the ski slopes for 16 years. If i knew then what I know now........ I would be still slaving for them. Just for the shop in the winter (5 bays with 16ft ceilings) and the parking lot in the non snowy months. It is at least 4 acres and not a single pole or light tower in it. Perfect for flying the planes!
Rick, I read your other post in the other forum. The belt slipping is very common. It could be that the belt isn't tight enough but crash has a very good fix for that issue. I get a 1mm washer from Home depot and put it next to the frame on my left side and lowered the roller bearing the belt rides on. Haven't had a problem since with mine slipping. Hopefully that will work for you also. I think the washer was like .09 or something.
Rex.....ty for the info on the NiMH battery. I was wondering if I had a defective one. your speed controller issue. How is it powered? Is it getting signal from the RX? You have my curiosity up on that one. You are our go to guy on the electronics stuff. We are supposed to be asking you the questions and wait for your infinite knowledge to kick in and guide us properly!
Anyways....good to see BOBs popping in and keeping us all informed. Like I saw posted a few back, the other forums are all good........but this is home! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.......... Blade CP!!!
