Jeff Michael,
Couple things for you... The girl with the helicopter hair-do. I seen that along time ago. It's really kind of creative. Notice the wire running up the tail section. It has a green light. Of course some people are just weird.. Free country, be nuts if you want to.

Just don't bother ME. [sm=punching.gif][sm=punching.gif]
I loved your last video of the Vapor. You seem to have conquered it, in a short time. Kudos to ya. I haven't ordered mine yet, just been busy, with stuff. Family and work comes first, you know that.
The *** is that picture, I blew it up real big. Looks like a dog with no tail, the head gave me that inclination. Weird stuff on the net.
Vic,
I'm with you on this one, I HATE spiders too. The little ones, I just squash 'em. Fortunately, we don't have the big ones here in Greenwood. I'm the Squasher here, the wife gets the willies from them. LMAO!
Just make your main blades razor sharp and go for them.[sm=punching.gif] Don't take crap from them thar birds.

To All,
Been working on the HBK2, it's flyable. But having trouble getting the canopy back on. Need some help. Blades are balanced perfectly and gear mesh is good. Belt tension is good too.
See attached picture,

My Jedi sense tells me that your HBKII is about to be upgraded[8D]
After Dave's Post and PM's from Vic I am going to go through the servos on the HBKII to find the offending one. I just pulled the trigger on some Futaba 3114 micros. They are very similar size to the E-Sky. The problem will be going one at a time and seeing what happens.
While shopping @ Tower I went with Arrow's suggestion on the XPD-8. I couldn't help myself, the fan and motor are worth $30 and why pay the shipping twice. Well...it doesn't quite end with that. Vic and I have chatted about the Phase 3 F-16 for some time so I ordered that as well. I'm mean really...why pay shipping three times, right?
How did that last paragraph sound? Do you think my wife will buy it?

God Bless Y'all,

Seriously want video of that, and a review by ya. That's your mission...
I remember seeing those on Tower when I was only interested in the RC cars, and before I got addicted to flight.
They caught my eye, and I've forgot about those XPD-8's....I can't believe the price, and then after Arrow's suggestions about it, I want a couple ! LOL...The F-16 however, way outta my league.......Your on yer own there partner....

You bet. They have a great video on the Tower site, it sold me. $30[X(] I have (3) tP910's and now a E-Sky 1000 that should be perfect for it. Then I have to find (2) HS-55's that center some what
The PH3 F-16 is on back order until mid-Sept. Vic and I will have to get together for some high speed formation flying[8D]
My wife should be home soon[X(] I'm a dead man[sm=what_smile.gif]
God Bless!

Very good Jay,
Your Jedi sense is tuned to perfection. That's exactly what's going on. I should have all the Micro Heli stuff tomorrow.. I requested the aluminum color and not the purple stuff. Gosh, my wife and kids are good to me. Since it's torn down, I'm going to replace all the main shaft bearing with NEW ones. A new tail boom , other one had a couple blade strike dings. Replacing the stock tail blades with Align ones. I'm going to really take my time to make this one, show room perfect, and Set-up on the money. I love the Set-up part. Really pays off to take your time. I'm very anixous on this one.. Having to much fun. I'll post a bunch of pictures as I progress on the re-build...
The Futaba 3114's are much better than the stock 8g servos. I want to get them too. Let me know how they work out.
"Why pay shipping three times, right?" LMAO! You could be a Used Car Salesman. (Con Artist)... Oppps! Just kidding, you know that.
God Bless ya Jay,

Dave.....I see you're an engineer by heart (LMFAO)...it'll WORK, it did on paper.
Jay....your butt is grass, and the MS. is the lawnmower. There isn't an excuse or lie big enough to cover all that (LOL).
Jeff....the F-16 looks very intimidating to be sure. It has some "weak points" out of the box, so I'm doing the research on fixes before I build. Dude...it's a plane. It uses the elevators as elevator and alieron BOTH. In otherwords...it'll fly like an arrow (no pun intended) and the controls are all on the tail end of the plane. No rudder, no ailerons...just elevons which the DX7 can be programmed for. I've seen it fly on "you-tube", and it has better/ more forgiving characteristics than the GreatPlanes L-39, or any of the other EDF's I've seen (F-15/worthogs/etc) on You-Tube.
Whew...hope I didn't miss anybody.

I really got tempted for a maiden with the Typhoon tonight....Lol.. Not much wind as I look up top. Still, the darn bugs are crazy in the evenings....I'll wait for Sat/Sun morning. My heart was racing hard though as I went over it in my mind staring at the top of the mountain for any tree movement and sipping a cup of coffee...LOL..
Geez, I was nervous thinking about it, and I haven't even flown it yet ! Can't wait to get it over with.
Gotta go beat on the Vapor for awhile.... Hardly any wind. Gotta have some wind, as it makes it even funner. During a pre-flight just now, I noticed a broken motor mount. A few drops of CA and it did the trick. The last crash was from a big gust and took it down hard. Usually the gusts are brief, and the Vapor can recover because of it's lightweight acrobatic maneuverability. But it wasn't so in the last crash. It took the ride ALL the way down...Lol..
Have a good one,

Ray 'ere,
Anyone ever thought about installing canards on the F-16....They work a dream on a Stryker according to a guy around here...!!
Meanwhile back on the heli ranch....
I have a problem with my 400:
She went ploughing the other weekend and ended up striking the ground on her sidebut....visibly didn't damage much so, to play safe, I stripped the transmission down and replaced the main driveshaft, flybar and feathering shaft. Also replaced the coupling bolts between the main gear and the shaft and the shaft and head assembly. Installed new CNC blade grips too.
I went carefully through the setup of the flybar and its blades and it is a good as I can get it.....but......
I put a little power to her without main blades and I have a one time "chirp" sound accompanied by a tail twitch counter clockwise just as she picks up speed....just one click on the trim between start and stop. It's not periodic...just at slow spoolup.
My backlash is good and belt tension is OK
I'm feeling near a millimetre end play if I lift up the motor outer cage...is that a problem...?
Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.
Meanwhile, I'm gonna tear her down again and add one component between spoolups at a time to see if that will zero me in on the problem.
Ray

Ray, nothing like that has happened to me. Does the "chirp" sound like the ESC or some kind of squeal from something binding?
Good to hear from Ya, been a bit.

Ray,
Concerning your chirp sound, if your gear mesh is good and belt tension good. You just may need a simple oil job. Make sure all the bearings, main shaft and swash are lubricated. Don't forget the tail assembly too. A dry point on any of them might cause a chirp at low rpm or spool up. You need to lube everything after, say, 5 or 6 flights.
Motor: The millimeter play you feel when grabbing the outer cage of a brushless motor is normal, not to worry about that.
Let us know what you determine on the bird sounds(chirp-chirp),

Hi Fellas,
I received my birthday gift today in the mail. The Silver Micro-Heli CNC, complete head and tail assembly.
See picture of the head assembly. No picture of the tail, yet, my battery in the camera needs charging. Jezzz.
Knowing myself, it'll take 2 or 3 evenings to complete. It has to be Juuuust Right.

Parts look sweet, Dave. Knowing you, you will have it in the air tomorrow
Have 6 packs through the 400 now. Plan to do a mini review with video for you guys sometime soon.
It's amazing the speed at which this thread moves sometimes. I find it hard to keep up some days!

Wnuk,
Happy to see you are back, lurking and posting. We missed you. Six packs through the 400 and no crash reports.
You are doing well, keep it up. We'll, be waiting for the mini review... Just stay up real late and get 'er done.
You're right, sometimes the thread goes bonkers, and hard to keep up. It's easy to miss something.
I've had the E-sky CNC parts and really liked them. The downside of them, is you can't buy seperate parts, only assemblies.
The Micro Heli CNC stuff, you can. Also, it's made from aircraft aluminum and much better quality. I went over the parts and inspected them all. I'm amazed at the precision they are and all the ball bearings they use. The E-sky CNC uses alot of brass tubing for bearings.
No way tomorrow[X(], I'm one to pick things apart and make it right. Just my nature.
Hope everything is doing well at home, give the wife my best, take care and God Bless,
Dave / Choppersrule

No crash reports yet though I did break a landing gear support (will detail in my review). I've basically been hovering and doing slow forward flight to really get the feel of it. I'm much more comfy with the head speed now than I was when I first spooled it up[X(]
Nose in seems much easier for me with the 400 then the HBK, don't know why.
BTW, where did you get your Super Skids? I need to order a set.

Wnuk / Jim,
You should be working on your review.
I should be working on my CNC stuff.
Yes, the head speed of the 400 and the HBK2 are dramatic, takes time to get use to it. It can be intimidating. Nose in will be easier with a heli that has a larger blade diameter and making it a more stable heli. Always keep it Set-Up right and check everything all the time. I can't stress that enough.
Super Skids: I purchased mine from Jaghobbies, see attached link.. Never breaks, LOL!

Later, gotta do some more on the CNC stuff

Super Skids, a plus for any heli[8D] I got some great flying in today. 2 flights on the "new" pro and 2 on the HBKII. I also had time to head home and pack the Extra 300 SHP into the Honda and got 4 flights on it. The weather was absolutely perfect today for flying and I didn't waste it
After getting frustrated with the CP Pro I took the HBKII up. I was way to cocky with it because it's more stable than the pro. I "slid" in to a hover and ended up bouncing the HBKII off of the pavement, HARD[X(] I quickly recovered back to hover and the Super skids held up perfectly. It hit hard enough to give a good RPM sounding difference[:@] OOPS
The RMP problem I've been having was prevalent in the later stages of the battery but I just kept on flying
Why not... right?
BTW~ the wife wasn't mad at all, she knows how much I love this hobby and that I'm not out doing anything else away from the home. I'm a Blessed Man[sm=teeth_smile.gif]
Dave that stuff looks awesome! Have fun with the set-up[8D]
Where the heck is Rick?[sm=confused.gif]

E-Sky CNC Separates
Michael @ USHobbySupply.com has separate CNC parts packages for the HBKII here
http://www.ushobbysupply.com/index.p...58122d95480643
Buying the whole head may be cheaper in the long run but if you just need certain section, this may be the way to go.
But you can get the whole thing, tail and all here
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.11989
Thanks Choppers for that one
God Bless!

http://www.ushobbysupply.com/index.p...58122d95480643
Buying the whole head may be cheaper in the long run but if you just need certain section, this may be the way to go.
God Bless!

Jay,
Sounds like you had a terrific day flying. Liz too, knows this is second love and I'm not out doing stuipd things. A big list of the crap, I don't participate in. I'm a family man and I know you are too.
Hey, did you find your glitching problem? Frustrations always come with this hobby and alot of other too.
Rick is doing okay, he's on medication and it takes time for it to kick in. I pray for him, he's my idol. What a man he is.
The Micro Stuff is awesome. I'm working on it slowly, go figure that.
So far, I've only polished the main shaft to mirror finish condition. Stuck the main shaft in my drill, and used, super duper fine steel wool, did that for about 5 minutes while watching the "Rifleman", my most, ever favorite series. I have the complete, DVD set.

I installed new main shaft bearings and greased them well. Installed new Micro Heli main gear. I'm picky, you know that.
I was in process of installing the 3900kv motor and noticed that it is canted to the main gear. Soo, I need to make a shim for that.
Getting tired, tomorrow is another day, God Bless,
Dave / Choppersrule

Just ordered a set of super skids from JAG, thanks Dave.
Jay, Where do you find the time to fly so much? With 2 young kids it's nearly impossible for me to get a few hours to myself. I have a giant scale Super Decathlon with a new G38 & smoke system that has but 5 flights on it and I haven't had it up in 2 years now. Also have 2 trainers and a Sig mid star 40 done up in John Deere Green. Think I need to take some pictures to share with you guys! Here is a quick look at the Super Decathlon.

Your Super Decathlon is awesome...
Please post pics of your other planes. One can never have to much eye candy...Lol..
Well, I took some pointers and tips from Jay, and with his encouragement I took up the Typhoon on its maiden... That thing is great ! Very tame, but yet can be very sensitive. So I just kept it very smooth and quiet for the first flight. Landing is different from the Challenger that's for sure. I have the rates set on low right now, but thinking the next time to feel it out with them more reactive, and set it higher.

Looking forward to the next flight hopefully this weekend !
