while at my LHS, getting a couple replacement parts for the VAPOR temptation was abound!

first, they had a used TREX 500 for sale.... built ready to go, only thing needed was TX/RX and LiPo.

after successfully fighting the urge to take home the TREX 500, they had to show me the TREX 250.

WOW, what a sweet looking little heli! similar to the GAUI HURRICANE 200, but seemed to have better mechanics. Luckily, they only had one left and that was already on hold for a customer....however, I'm next on the waiting list should the customer decide not to buy it.

Jer ~

I'll be very interested in what ya have to say about that 250... We want full reviews and everything... Pics etc. etc... You know the routine... I trust your expertise, so I'll be monitoring what ya have to say and such about it... So sweet...! I can't wait to see maybe a video also ? You still got that helmet cam right ? Well ya may have to dust it off a little.....

Take care Jer.......

OK.....RICK, JER, Dave, Jay, Jim, all you guys, my situation is resolved finally. Jer....darnnit, I like the 250, that would be great in the house, I got lots of room. I'll be a little less spendy for about two months, but I LOVE to window shop, I was even looking at some planks (warbirds). With Christmas comming, the wife is gonna BLEED me hard. I will be ordering a NEW EXI-450 std in about two weeks when they go on sale again. Had a pretty good crash with mine in the basement (piro went bad), but I should have it flyable by tomorrow. The Phase3 F-16 EDF, flew the heck out of it and it's awsome, I love it. Got the D/R at 45%, or I couldn't handle it.....just too quick.

Vic ~

That's great my friend.... All things pass eh ? Your one of the major supporters of keeping this thread alive, and so we're all glad to see ya back onboard... And besides, its the not same flippin' the others crap as it is with you...LMAO...

the wife is gonna BLEED me hard
LOL.... Yeah, well how bout this for a bleeding.... My ol' lady wanted to move down here to Cali... We were going to stay at my dads guest house until we got established in the area and such, which is a partial reason I'am even down here in Cali along with work being available as my tiny town back home in the sticks has been slow due to the economy... Well, a year later and I'am still here ! The reason being also, is Kelly works at Costco Wholesale and is one of the higher end managers for the store there and she can't get a transfer as there has been no openings... I love it in Washington much better, as I'am an outdoorsman type, and the pickings here for that in Cali are a little slim from what I'am used to, but I was going to do it for her and held out as long as I could and now the seperation is just to unbearable any longer for both of us period... Talking on the phone everyday, and frequent visits once a month or so flying is getting to expensive also... She's only 30, and she's more of the California type with those cool sandy beaches and lots of shopping as we all know the ol' ladies love...LMAO... We've been together for 11 years now and nothing will ever get in the way of that even being seperated for the moment in different states... She's the best thing ever, as I was married 10 years prior and man that first lady with the credit cards was wild ! Its why to this day, I'am freaked out with those cards and don't use them except the pre-paid ones and only for heli-purchases...LOL...

But here's the funny thing I was getting at... I came down here with only a few crafts to Cali... I'll be leaving with double of what I came down with ! LMAO.... The parts collection is just beyond out of control, but those are easier to hide ! Its the planes and heli's in which I might have to get creative... I feel like a full teardown of a few might be at play here... I'll be bleeding like something fierce my friend... LMAO... We'll bleed together... Man she's gonna have my hide...LOL...! But really she's pretty good about the hobby though, and she'll even buy me stuff from time to time, but those are gradual things. This could be more of a shock with everything at once....YIKES....

She's always asking "Are you doing o.k. ?" "How have you been ?" And I'll be like..... Yeah... I guess I'am doing maybe alright..... When in the back of my mind, I'am thinking oh hell ya, I'am having a party and a blast and ordering heli's and parts like a savage, the guys at the LHS open doors for me, call me by my first name, I've got a whole fleet of heli's, the living room here has turned into a full-blown RC shop and the inventory is flowing out the door.....LMAO...! [8D]

So ya..... I can kind of feel your pain Crash.... But I know your ol' lady is pretty good about it also, so that's good.... I was gonna go and chuck an extra boom I have for the 500 for an experiment in my Dewalt drill but it just barely was to big... I wanted to see what it looked like polished aluminum....LMAO... Hmmmmmmm...... There is the 450 though..................

Oh.... Remember Mark ? (Cltmte) I saw him snooping on the forum the other day, so I shot him a P.M. and he's doing good... He hasn't flown nothing for 6 months and hasn't even posted on the forum also until just recently... He was thinking of getting an MCX to get back into the swing of things and such... The last I heard last year with him was he had the Trex and the HBK2 along with the CPP I believe... It was good to see a familiar name once again though... Winter time always brings back a few...

Cheers,

~ Jeff

Hey guys

Wind finnaly died down here yesterday and was able to fly the Belt CP and dial in the blade tracking. I had to take a trip to Plainfield Correctional Complex up near Chopperland to inspect a new prision transport bus for my facility ask the shift Captain to bring my heli and swing over to choppers house but of course he said NO[&o] so ill try again when we pick it up next time. So when I got home I had recived a new package of goodies for the Belt CP and new charger and 2 batteries.

Charger
[link]http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=7028[/link]

Batteries
[link]http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=7363[/link]

Now I dont have to wait 5 hours for my batteries to charge like with the stock one.

More batteries = More flying[sm=thumbs_up.gif]

Kyle, you are going to love that charger. It has supplanted my Triton jr as my primary charger.

Tim
I am starting to use some aileron(?), sideslip, in my turns. Much more fluid. I'm really enjoying this little heli too much. Oh, and I tried for an outdoor flight again. I think I will have to use the heavier battery for this. Forward was a problem still.

Hi Fellas,

Just checking in briefly, as far as things are going here with the helis, Everything is fine and
dandy. Had a broken blade grip on the Lama V4. No big deal there. On the MCX, I was having
a problem getting the battery to stay in the female connector of the heli. Hmmmm, so, my
solution to that was to take the male connector off of my Vapor and transplant it to the MCX.
After some tiny soldering and tiny shrink tubing, I’m back in business. HBK2 is doing great, no
troubles there at all. Sweet and Short ...

Now for you guys:

Kyle,

I’ve read some reviews on the new charger, excellent choice , and right down my alley on cost.
I’m sure you’ll enjoy the rapid charge times.. 5 hours is a bummer. And the Rhino 2150 battery
is another good choice... You’ll be in seventh heaven in no time.

Plainfield Correctional Complex up near Chopperland, YIKES! What a small world we live in,
my next door neighbor is a Director at that Complex. He tells me some good stories, but I can’t
tell any online. That is where Mike Tyson, spent time, when he bit off Evander Holyfields ear,
back in Sept. 24, 2007. You are always welcome to stop by the Choppermansion. LMAO

Tim,

Hey, you are doing great with the MCX, you are getting the Blend thing going with your thumbs
and fingers. Orientation looks great, try flying small circles.. A little forward on the right stick
and a little left or right rudder. The more rudder, the tighter the circle. Less rudder is bigger
circles. Practice left and right, then your ready for figure eights. I see you have your brain back
for going backwards too. LOL

Jeremy,

The Trex 250 is awesome, and the head speed is out of this world. Quicker than a gnat.
I’ve watch several videos of the 250 and I’m totally impressed.

Crash,

Glad things are finally falling in line for you. I know you’ve had some tough goes for some time
now. Check in every once in awhile, I know you are very busy with the EXI.. A couple pictures
wouldn’t hurt to see where you are at. Bet the Pizza and Mt. Dew was a super treat for the
family. Take Care... We have a Little Caesar’s Pizza place near by, 5 bucks for a large one. But
you have to get it, no delivery for the price. We get a couple every weekend. Inexpensive and
pretty good too.
Jeff-Michael,

Two things for you:

I was having trouble getting the battery of the MCX to stay in the female connector of the heli. It
seemed to seat properly, but never would arm the ESC. I thought I had a bad battery, I tried
another (oh, I got a couple extras now), same thing. Tried a third battery, same thing, Took the
battery and put it in the Vapor, and Yikes all okay with all three batteies. So, I did a transplant of
the Vapor connector, to the MCX heli.. Another Yikes!, and I’m flying the heli again. Much
better connector on the Vapor than the MCX, IMHO.. Gotta pick one up to get the Vapor back
in the air. Just some tiny soldering and all went fine. I gotta search online for one, part of the
fun! Attached, 2 bad pictures of the transplant.

Quickly, as far as you and Kelly go, things seem to work out for the best as far as work place and
location. Liz and I went through the same process 30 years ago, Yikes! Am I old or what?
Obviously, for us, living in Gary Indiana, it was kind of a no brainer for us, either a ghetto or the
good life.. Been happy as a lark living just south of Indianapolis.. But the wind still sucks for
helis. LMAO

Poop.. For some reason, I can't upload the two pictues I intended.. There is one I tried and it took it, but not of the transplant. I'll try that later.

Kyle,

I'm glad someone is watching my back. I have to keep checking Jeff-Michael. [8D][8D] I slipped in the wrong date for the ear biting. It was, on September 24, 2007, Mike Tyson pleaded guilty to possession of narcotics. Either way, the man is a big zero in my book.[X(] We all have much better things to do.
Sooo, let's PM the heli or go fly... I love the mechanics.

Jim,

Actually, nothing to report is a good thing. No Crashes... While you are waiting on the canopy to finish your project. Just do a total PM on the heli. Never hurts at all, and we all should do it more often. Lube and check everything. I know, I'm a nut case when it comes to the mechanics of the heli, but that's the part I like them most.

Dave

Hi gents, not much to report on my end. Waiting on a canopy to finish my rebuild. I may replace a blade grip bearing also as one seems a bit sticky.

Rick- Glad you made it safely down south. Enjoy yourself and some R&R time.

Later.

Chopper, thanks for the advice. Small circles. I can do those both directions I think. I think the ear chomping was in '94. I know I was back in Cali for it and paid for the priviledge of watching the fight. I assume that this was the second fight. The first was good the second was less than optimal.

Vic -
glad you dropped by... don't be such a stranger!
Sorry to hear about all the headache. But sounds like your having some fun with the F16. I was looking at the EFLITE F16 the other day, then the PARKZONE CORSAIR caught my eye.... like you said it's ALWAYS FUN to window shop!

Choppers -
wow, sacrificing the VAPOR for the MCX.... not sure if I could do that. As the VAPOR is a blast, then again so is the MCX. tough decision, but I'd probably keep the VAPOR and look for a fix on the MCX. Then again my soldering skills aren't the greatest. those are some tiny wires!

Jeff-
unfortunately, the helmet cam has been retired. Actually, I no longer have a video camera. The main reason for my lack of videos this past year. When I sold my last camera, I intended on replacing it with one of the HiDef camcorders, but never found one that I liked...

Rick-
hope all is well in Argentina! How's the SUD AMERICA MCX fairing?

as far as the TREX 250, yes it's a sweet little heli. however, it's going to have to wait. I ended up spending the paycheck elsewhere.... TODAYS PURCHASE:

2006 HONDA CBR 600RR

Jer,
Wow....nice bike. Be careful, I've been hit by a car twice on two different bikes. The Honda CB350 was totaled, the Yamaha 360, not totaled, but bad enough. Wearing a brain bucket BOTH times, both times my head hit the pavement first.

Parkzone Corsair....I looked at it, but I just don't know yet. When a foamie Corsair flies well, they're great. You can do some awsome rolls and whatnot. The F-16...it's just a screamer (80mph as stock). Got the dual rates at 45% just so I can fly it....it's that quick on the controls. I'll do another Corsair, but it'll be a while. I'm thinking GWS with a brushless system (with good vertical power) on my DX7 and LOW D/R's settings.

Hey All,

Jer be careful! I had a bad accident with mine, 86' Yamaha FZ 600 and totaled it. I luckily slid across grass and not pavement. I went about 20 yards and got some very serious road rash. I still have the scares and that was 13 yrs ago. My friend bought a "C"rocket and I was concerned. I told him about my experiences and he said that he wasn't going to screw around on it. 3 months later he high sided it and smash his knee cap into 3 piece. Again PLEASE be careful, it easy to feel invincible on those bikes.

Tim, another great video! I'm working on a P-51 that's about the same size as your P-40. It would be awesome to do some formation flying[8D]

I finally tried vacuum forming today. I screwed up my first piece but the second was better but not perfect. Fun to do and it would be very easy to make heli canopies. My P-51 is coming along. Here are some pics.

Blessings,

Jay

thanks all for the warnings.
I'm fully aware of the dangers of riding.... especially in LOS ANGELES!

the key is to riding safely is to RESPECT the bike and be AWARE. However, my biggest concern is not my riding, but the actions of other drivers. About 10 years ago, I had a car pull out in front of me and I did the ol' SUPERMAN across the hood. Thank GOD, it was only a YAMAHA RAZZ scooter doing about 25 MPH. And luckily I landed in a nice soft bush. Only had some minor cuts, scrapes, bruises, and some soreness for a few weeks.

Jay -
that P51 is looking pretty sweet! love the pics...

Vic -
the foamies are great because they are relatively inexpensive, and pretty sturdy. I still love flying the STRYKER F27C.

First....Hi Rick in S.A. if you're still there.

Jer, yeah...foamies are a blast. Arrow covered his Corsair with ultra-coat, which is an excellent idea because foamies even under NORMAL use, take a beating even from grass. It does need a micro rhino skin to prevent dents and scrapes.

The bike thing....I've never had an accident on a motorcycle that was my fault. Hit from behind each time sitting at a stop sign or light....now I got eyes in the back of my head while stopped at a light or sign, ready to nail it if they don't look like they're gonna stop before hitting me. You can be a competent rider, and still get smoked...part of the racket I guess.

Jeremy,

CONGRADULATIONS!

I have been riding for 50 years! As I read below everyone cares about your safety. It sounds like your past experiences have made you a good rider. But remember, There are only two types of riders, them that have gone down and them that are gonna go down. It is is like flying Helis, no matter how good your heli is and how sharp your skills are you gonna go down. Buy the best helmet money can buy. Wear Kevlar and good boots. Bring it by I love to see it. I'll show you my Boss Hoss 350 415 HP!

JPee
RIDE SAFE AND ENJOY

Barrick, I broke the strap on my mcx today, but I was able to find some spares. I should have one tomorrow and a couple more next week. I'll happily send one to your friend if you want. If so let me know and PM me the address. Unless shipping is prohibitive, my treat.

As stated above, I broke the mcx. Shortly after thinking how robust it is. My bad. I must have cracked the y joint before, because I was just flying along like normal and decided that it was a good time to go into a reverse circle. The heli just started flailing and when it hit the ground the fly bar went flying.

Jay, interesting motor mount. This AK model has a stick mount so I bought this inrunner, http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=4199&Product_Name=HXT_24 35_(370S)_4040kv_Brushless_Inrunner And am going to use a 300 gearbox with a "C" gear probably.

Foamies are awesome but I can't believe how expensive they can be. I've heard the E-Flite's F-16 is a waste of money and the PH F-16 is a better deal. Mine sits idle but looks good I believe it was Arrow that suggested putting tape on the leading edge of the Aerobird Commander. I did that to my XPD-8 jet and it stopped the abuse from stiff grass. I like that parkzone F-4U Corsair but again the price is crazy.

I love that T-Rex 250, I look forward to seeing more pics and flight reports!

Man JPEE, that is just one BAD ***** Bike. I watch Two wheel Tuesday on Speed TV often and I've heard that statement many time. 2 kinds of riders.... those who have gone down and those who will go down. You have to love feeling of the open road and 2 wheels, great feeling.

Tim, the mount is just a X brace with plastic spacer to get the prop to the correct distance. That motor looks like a great deal. I've never done the gear box, just outrunners. I hope to hear more about your P-40 project[8D]

I hope Y'all have a wonderful weekend. Safe trips to all traveling for Thanksgiving or just coming back home

God Bless Y'all!

You can take a GWS Corsair in the white, paint it, add your favorite outrunner and 25A esc, use a 1300 25c battery and have a ball for like <$150.00 (try that with a .40 gasser). The plane kit it's self shipped can be had for like $40 shipped, no motor or electronics at all. Just white pieces of foam in a pretty box.

That corsair looks great, but I'm into horizons pricing. My latest favorite source for good foamies is mscompisitusa.com.

The heli repair went awry and now I need a flybar as well[X(][][][][]. I'll get one tomorrow,

Lookyj, as a rule the bike driver is not the problem. It's the autopilot driver. Auto trans and just barely paying attention. Be careful of them though. Just because they aren't driving doesn't mean the will take responsibility, they tend to think that you should be riding in a car as well.
