do i dare SUGGEST THIS :
from my old career with Planks.....what you describe reminds me of problems that were prevalent in the old days, (even not so old days)
on the ground, if the TRANSMITTER ir TOO CLOSE to the RECEIVER, it swamps, over-rides, glitches, etc etc
An experiment, for what it's worth, costs you nothing, : try not leaning over the helicopter with the TX in your hands. Rather step back 10 feet. I bet everything STABILIZES
valueless suggestion ? no sweat, NO CHARGE

Rick...you're right, it's possible. My LOVE with the 2.4 is that it takes all that OUT of the equasion and it's easier to pin-point the problems. I'm NOT saying you CANT use a 72mHz system with success, you can. I prefer to eliminate any factor that will make the task MORE complicated than it needs to be.

have been working on the INNOVATOR problems and SHARING exchanges with other users. It seems I have PIN POINTED exactly where the problem is : I get the WHOLE ENCHILADA from this helicopter except that it won't ARM THE MOTOR, which is the last step before the activation and flight.
The battery will not charge UP further than 12.3 V
the battery cutoff (no fly) is set in the factory at 12.2
the battery is supposed to go up to 12.9 V
this battery was up (temporarily for some minutes only) at 12.5 and then sunk down fast to 12.47V
Conq. the factory has wrapped ( and I got it ! [>:]) either one defective battery OR one defective charger.
Now : y'all may ask : WHY IS THIS FOOL SO WRAPPED UP IN THIS INNOVATOR ????????
well: from all the advertising it seems that THIS would be the instrument that would SET ME FREE to move into FF, turns and NOSE IN
yes, I DO all that in the SIM.......this heli was supposed to be my real life SIM because from what I plainly see, it IS STABLE.
but if the motor won't arm, youse got NUTTIN.....
p.s. today at the RC field, I really wished y'all could have seen my EXPERT GURU, settig up a BLADE 400 out of the box, and doing the most outrageous 3-D with it WITH THE WIND BLOWING UP TO 30 or 35MPH definitely not less than 25 mph,,, not gusting, but STEADY...... this fellow is INCREDIBLE ......Mr. MARKCONROY

Rick...it appears that the "real life sim" is a TURKEY out of the box. I think your first inclination to send it back or sell it on E-Bay would be an "on target" option. Do you remember Cadillac's attempt in 1978 at the 8/6/4 engine that would only use the cylinders required under different loads??? It was an attempt at fuel economy and computerization technology in the high end automotive industry. It FAILED miserably as predicted by myself and any other savvy mechanic in the day. The innovator is the Cadillac 8/6/4 being high tec, high priced , and a failure according to ANY thread you read.....man, I feel for you. Use those two stock HBKII's as a FF sim but I don't recommend nose in, they're just too unstable.[

Rick- keep at the Innovator for now, you just may get it right.
As for your ability to go into FF, well my friend ,you already have that ability with ANY heli you have. Your fear of damaging a heli you so deeply care about is the only thing holding you back. I can TOTALLY relate to that. Go slowly. Try going into FF and walking behind the heli. Go for 10 yards and stop, turn it with rudder 180 degrees and go 10 yards in the other direction. Repeat! Then do the same thing from a stationary position. I know you know these things. I just wish to encourage you as the only thing holding you back, is you. BTW, didn't you get the AXE CP for this? Oh, and THANK YOU for inquiring about the Mrs. She is doing fine. With frequent check-ups and a LOT of praying we intend to keep her that way
Kyle- Congrats on the DX6i, you will LOVE it. It's a great radio, I won't be without mine now. I'm using for both my B400 and mCX. So what was the HOT item at E-Fest this year?
Jay- Good to hear you got the parts coming for the HBK. Did you go CNC for the tail?
Jeff- I still watch your videos and can't believe at how quick you progressed in such a short time. You will be doing those Inverted Auto's in no time at all! LMAO!
Vic- I read each of your posts twice, usually. There is always a "pearl of wisdom" to be gleened from you!
Jim
Oh I just had to share this. My 10 year old FINALLY got sent to the penalty box in his ice hockey league. It was a poor triping call but he was there non the less. That tells me he is stepping up his aggressive play (in a good way mind you). He has been given the nickname "flash" by his coach. He tells me he likes the way Nick is always quick trying to get to the puck. He's got 5 goals in 10 games this season, not bad for his rookie year. He's the 3rd leading scorer on his team. God, it's great to be a dad!

Kyle...the DX6i will be the BEST move you ever made. You program your heli for YOU, and it becomes more inherently stable because of the precision of better radio system.
Jim...sounds like he's getting the hang of the hockey thing (LMAO). Hocky is like life in general in the fact if you don't get in trouble once in a while, then you're doing nothing and learning nothing. Gotta break a few eggs to make an omlet eh????? I LOVED the story.

The hot items were DX6i they sold out in about 2 hrs all vendors, and probably the MCX they were EVERYWHERE. As for Heli's the Rave 450 designed by Curtis Youngblood over the rotor flybar system(2 piece flybar not 1)torque tube, and will take 325's or 350's[X(]. Funny story we were checking out the rave's and father in-law stoped and started askin some guy about them and differences between flybar above and below main rotors. So we start to say goodbye and walk away when another guy walks up and starts talkin to the guy we were talkin to and callin him Curtis so I stopped quickly grabbed my father in-laws jacket and said wait I just realized WHO you were talkin to it was Cutris Youngblood
we talked to him some more he is a super cool and nice guy.

I am looking at upgrading to a 2.4g system for my new trex, and am trying to decide between the spektrum radios and the Futaba 7C 2.4GHz. Do you have any opinions as to which way to go? Thanks!!

I watched a couple of videos of Curtis Youngblood flying. He's quite a thrasher of heli's isn't he? He was flying a rather large gasser and did an autorotate landing...very impressive.

Well I had to check the gutters, so I made it fun and quick and used the heli to run a perimeter around the roofline and used my old school camera that I use for my helmet cam to do this.... I've tried it on the 450 and it did ok back in Cali, but I could feel the extra 247 grams from the camera ! With the 500 I couldn't tell a diff at all... I placed it DIRECTLY under the main shaft to keep the CG centered and it worked so well... To perfect in fact, and was impressed... My next video will be with the onboard cam mounted. Can't wait !
I may get paid from a guy who wants some simple shots of some construction projects he has going for a website he's developing... Maybe it will pay for a few spare parts... Or better yet, a better camera. A pilot's got to do, what a pilots got to do....
Cheers,
~ Jeff

Can't keep up anymore !
I remember seeing in some of his videos of him flying with the DX-7... But then again, with all his sponsors he probably gets a new TX every few months or so....LMAO... Lucky dog !
Cool on your DX6i TX !
[8D] Have you checked it for the problem that was announced in the service bulletin that just came out a bit ago ?

Jim, that's a great story about your kid. It's a great age for sports, no longer just poking around but actually playing the game competitively. Very Cool!
Thanks JPEE, I hope to use it soon. Temps are going up and snow levels are coming down around here[8D]
Great shot Jeff! Did you mount a servo to actuate the button? How about a pic of the mount?
Klye, I'm green with envy. I need to step up to 2.4!
Some parts showed up today but not all. I ordered stuff on Friday from www.UShobbysupply.com and it was at my today for about $4.00 shipping. Michael is awesome to deal with!
Blessings All,
Jay

But if your not having any probs yet, why change eh ?! You will love the much lighter RX's though if you do change over someday...Oh.... No servo on the camera, its my funky old Kodak and I just slammed it on the heli really quicklike for an experiment. It worked good, and now I'am getting some crazy thoughts of skimming some kind of water source in some FFF with the cam....(You know me...LOL..)

Bring your swim gear or a boat....LMAO.
I have a feeling it won't float....
It sure would make a great expensive video watching it crash into a water source ! Unfortunately since the cam is on the heli, there could be a problem.....
Two things that ya got to watch out for.... Water, and Chuck Norris.....LMAO....

LMAO.... I'am only a few miles from the ocean in one direction and then a few more to the mountains in the other... So I'am thinking of this beach here ! Salt water corrosion....What's that ?!...
Sand..... Ouch....
But so fun eh ?! Maybe I can get it it in some FFF and rip across the shoreline as the waves are breaking with the heli cam attached! LOL !

Our labs

My 3 boys...

And one other problem.........It gets windy there !

TO THE RADIO FLYER
Hey JAY ; thanks for the PM
You said you like BIG PLANES THE MOST
Well, here is my project.
This is a TOTAL FROM SCRATCH DESIGN THAT I CREATED
on a plan I scribbled on brown wrapping paper.
It started with the QUADRA 35, yes, it was about 20 years ago.
Moved up to the ZENOAH and never looked back
It's scratch designed, scratch built, MONOKOTE and the cowl is/was totally BALSA/PLY created
the flying qualities were the BEST by FAR of any model I have flown. Well, maybe the 1/3 PIPER CUB was also AS GOOD.
This J3 CUB 1/3scale was STOLEN from the back of my pickup truck, with the Transmitter too, while I was on the runway, teaching a nooby to fly.
this BLUE plane went to the ESTATE DEALER to whom I SOLD everything (model plane) that I owned over the last 45 years.....
I sometimes WONDER who has it, where it is ???
I ALSO WONDER WHY AM I SO STUPID, to sell everything ?[
