references?? Who wants references? I heard that charlies hobbies was ok. I have not dealt with them, have been using BPhobbys and Helidirect.
Did they ask for a reference after you paid? If they have your money, they need to send you the parts......or refund your money. If they are giving you issues, paypal has a complaint dept. Hang in there old buddy, We will send out the calvary!

Barrick,

I checked out Charlie's Hobbies, it looks okay. Never too late, you can always cancel your order. Referrences, sometimes are a good thing, just checking you out. Don't give them toooo much information. It kinda looks like a small time dealer though.

Dave / Choppersrule

ORIGINAL: Barrrick

shudda asked BEFORE i bought ! does ANYBODY have any reference ( good or bad) about CHARLIE'S hobbies IN ARIZONA ? I just got thos e SUPER SKIDS, and some BLADES. Actually went for a SUPER LIPO UPGRADE FOR THE CX-2 but it's out of stock....Anyway just paid with PAYPAL and asking for REFERENCES, NOW ! too late ? Thanks Arrow, that at least gives me a known direction to go down.

I just got done with a battery pack. I'm getting it tuned in more and more and also understanding it better & better. I did a 45 second hover before it got too close to my work bench and I set it down. Sometimes I'm right in tune with it and other times I'm not, all in the same flight session. But I am grinning ear to ear none the less!

Remember to tell him about trim drift as the battery drains. He might be experiencing that already.

i bug you SO MUCH maybe it's time to introduce myself, and show there really is one OLEPHART down Houston way, who benefits a lot from your help and experience. This is
my out of the box CP, with SIX total flights on it, ready for HEAT SINKS installed and the new super skids I ordered today. I WILL KEEP you posted. I was AMAZED at how MUCH I
REGRESSED in my hovering, when I tried to fly at night on my driveway. It may have been two things : I added the BEAD to the back skid, and installed the battery a bit farther BACK than usual , which may have shifted the balance point backwards...... YOU DO BALANCE your HELI before each flight? don't you.....welll : guess WHO didn't !!! ...... I guess PATIENCE, besides being a virtue , for US is a NECESSITY, right ... Mr. Dave ?
GREETINGS and a GOOD WEEK END FOR ALL OF YOU
RICK

The EDITOR cut out some names in the CREDITS BALLOON : DAVE, CRASH and ARROW were involuntarirly removed. sorry

Band of Brothers....

I got back home this evening and had to get a couple flights in! Yes, still got the fleet flying great....

unfortunately the parts I was expecting, still haven't arrived...

anyways, project Perfect CP is still in the works... (dave need some help getting that darn pinion on the motor... any suggestions?) no hurry, still waiting for the DX7 and AR6000... also, please refresh my memory on the DD GWS tail motor.... who has the best deal? that is the next order for my baby!.... (how's your bling'd blade doing?)

crash (have you got the RX's yet? would love to hear about your Blade CP Rex.... have you got it in the air with the new mods?)

meanwhile, I've been playing with my CX's. I've heard rumors (yes rumors, of a possible roll or loop with these little helis.... and who says you outgrow the coaxial?)

here's a couple pics.... one of my fleet, the other of a day at work in Moab... yes that's a REAL heli!

Rick, love the pic... have you got the pc ready for vids yet? would love to see some flyin'

Lookyj...still waiting fot the DX6 so I can install and program. Nice pics. Did some hovering outside in a 5 to 8mph wind. Hovering only...don't want to break it. A couple of times, I had to really nose her down to hold position. Still glitching issues...sometimes not at all, sometimes you don't dare go airborne.

DX6 got here today. I got my hands full now. Looked at the book after I put it on the charger. It only shows brushless motor/gryo/esc setup....no 3-1.[X(] Time to do some reading.

found the 3-1 setup...I'm rolling now. Just hovered my LAST hover with the Eflite TX, light glitching. Need to work on the trim when I get the DX6 fired up.

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.............DX6! Bet yer heart is racing and your mind is whirling crash! As soon as you get yours set up and all the bugs worked out of it, we want a full report mister! Pics too if you can swing it......heh.
looky, impressive fleet of birds you have there. is that the microheli aluminum head? if so, how do you like it? I was looking at the 3DX-300 Bell Hiller Complete CNC Head from helihobbys for 99 bucks. 40 dollar less than the MH one, but don't wanna cheap out if its not worth it.

You a charting a path for us crash. I'm really looking forward to your results. I haven't experienced RF Interference yet, and hope not to, but I am considering the DX6 myself right now. Hope you can make a full install report.

wnuk - nice pic.... keep em coming! I think we all love to see who's flying what out there!

arrow - yeah, that's the mH CNC head. I love it! That heli is all mH CNC, pretty heavy but VERY STABLE. I can even take her out it some light winds. Only prob is flight time is down to about 10 min with all the weight and the stock Eflite 3cell. That bird is down for repairs with he brushless install and waiting for the DX7.

crash - NICE, DX6...... hopefully that will solve your glitching issues. Can't wait for my TX to arrive! Looks like I'm starting to get some interference as well. Just smacked my CP into the ground. I had her flying some simple patterns when all the sudden it dropped about 3 feet. Didn't have the skills to recover fully, but it looks like I only busted up the blades.

rick - how's the flying coming?

choppers - you know where I can get a deal on the GWS DD tail?

ANYONE using the PRE-Flight Blade Edition flight sim? I just got a copy with cable and having problems getting it setup. Main issue my TX controls are not calibrated so it's impossible to fly. soundcard issue?

just want to SHARE MY RELIEF with y'all this morning. I thought I had PROBLEMS following the night flight disaster. Just now set up two flights on the CX-2 and two on the CP. EVERYTHING is cool and works well. It's just that two days OFF from practice, have brought me BACK TO GROUND ZERO. That is unbelievable..... I am now BACK at 2 or 3 ft HOVER for maybe 2 or 3 minutes, BUT in my restricted space inside the garage and over the 2ft. square marking. I do have the HEAT SINK on the main motor of the CP now, can't find the heatsink for the tail motor anywhere, I think maybe if I reduce one middle fin of the heatsink, I can slip it backwards between the motor and the shaft support for the tail blades. Now to FIND IT. CHIT ! I hate being this AULD....RICK
WNUK ? GREAT DECATHALON.....30 + years ago I built the 1/4 scale version and kept it all those years, still flying it with a QUADRA 50.... It went away when I sold all my stuff as an ESTATE.....now all I do is 300 helis and LOVING IT

Good eye Barrick!

The plane is a Dynaflite Super Decathlon kit I built last winter. 89" wing span, Zenoah G38 for power, and a TME smoke system. I have just 5 or 6 flights on it from last year. I had one prior to this one that meet an untimely demise when an old 25cc lost power on takeoff. I liked that plane so much I just had to build a second one. The smoke system really adds to it.

If you go to www.wyomingvalleyrcflyers.com and look on crash pictures, you will see what my old one looked like when it went in. This is the RC Club I belong to, am currently Press Secretary. We are getting ready for our Spring Float Fly coming up shortly.

BARRRICK HERE
# 9 REPORT

I risk REPEATING myself I guess, but that is what AULD PHARTTS do ! Today I tried my # 3 heli and once again it seems I got one PERFECT item.
This one [ the CP-PRO] I had taken to the LHS for an expert to do the preliminary evaluation. He said it was alright so I brought it back home, expecting that a long time would pass before I lit it up.
Today I got the "spreader" and lit up the CP-PRO in my garage.! Spooled up perfect, smooth as glass, I saw no vibration, no shaking TOTALLY RIGHT ON. So I wound up a bit more, and got airborne. Held it at one foot off the ground and IMMEDIATELY felt more comfortable with this HELI than I ever have with the CP !!!! Please BELIEVE this old man, it is EASIER TO HOVER THE PRO THAN THE REGULAR CP. Dare I say this: it is VERY CLOSE to the CX-2 in hover as far as my LIMITED ABILITY goes. It does respond quicker, and I think THAT is just what makes it easier to control. Gee I hope I am making SOME KIND OF SENSE TO SOMEONE.. DAVE ?????

I don't know how that happens, but it is just so. I HOVERED the whole battery, which lasts considerably longer thatn the CP NIMHS... prior to that, today, I had made two full NIMH flights on the CP, and can rise and hold to 4feet, always in my VERY reduced space. I am STILL LEARY of the PRO, and was just experimenting, so I only rose to 2foot. But it holds a STEADY HOVER, and responds nice and smooth to stick inputs. I catch side drifts really well, and even had time to YAW right and left holding in place using the left (RUDDER) TX stick. Now here I must say that coming from Planes, and having used RUDDER as a primary turning element for years, this comes quite natural to me. I guess it helps a lot with Helis.
AWESOME
My GOLDEN STREAK OF LUCK continues, it seems. Nothing is broken, twisted, splintered at all.
If I can find somebody to snap a pic I will post that, with the hover of the PRO chest high.
For now, here is what it looks today, after the first (long flight)
I LOVE THIS AWESOME SPORT.
RICK

Barrick,

For an OLDPHARRT, you look in pretty darn good shape to me.. Like the picture of you and your CP.. Looks like you're getting ready to feed it. Oh and wipe that grin off your face, this is serious business(jes kidding)[&:]

You're doing fine already, another month or so and you'll be helping us.

Have a good one,

You keep getting hit with the "gold brick" of luck. Funny...the brick I keep getting hit with is made of poop. I'm glad it hovered so well for you. I can't really say the Pro does better than the stock CP...it's just more responsive to input. Being NEW and everything is tight, you will notice a change as it comes along and gets broken in. Working on the DX6. Haven't made it past naming the heli on the screen yet, working slowly at it. There are so many parameters to input...gets overwhelming. The trim switches are not sliders...they're digital (that one shocked me). It's a handful...that's for sure.

Lookyj,

Installing pinion on motor:

BE CAREFUL,, before you put the pinion on the motor shaft, first mount the motor to the heli frame. You have to mark the shaft with a reference line to see where the pinion will go on the shaft and best align with the main shaft gear. You don't want the pinion to high or to low on the shaft, otherwise you won't get full mesh with the main gear. Because, once you get the pinion on, you can't get it off unless you have a pinion puller(thingy). It is a tight press on fit.

I used my vise out in the garage, you almost need three hands to do it, but I did it with only two. Make sure that the pinion is aligned with the shaft and slowly, ever so slowly, start to tighten the vise. Once you feel that there is some tension there, double check alignment of the pinion on the shaft. Once, the pinion starts to move onto the shaft, it's pretty easy twisting from there.. Just apply pressuse slowly and don't forget to check your reference mark for location of pinion on the shaft. That's key, cuz you can't do it over.

Gosh, I hope this helps,

Dave / Choppersrule

Welcome back DUDE,,,

DD GWS tail motor:

Just happen to find this on a google search, I love the google. I can find most anything I want in 2 minutes or so. This took 30 seconds. Anyway, here's a forum with some cool pictures of the DD, prices and where he got his stuff.

Barrick,

Report #9,,, I keep tellin' ya, that you're on your way to heli stardom.. Great job, especially for such a short time you've been in the heli world. You're doing, obviously, all the right things and asking the right question.. So, happy for you, you old pharrt!
Your remark about the Pro seemingly easier to control, it's your old memory banks kicking in from 30 years ago when you flew the heli by the seat of your pants... After 30+ years in the R/C world, you must be a walking encyclopedia of flight.

Again, happy your doing so well, keep up the great job,

Dave / Choppersrule

Crashcrash,

DX6 Setup:

Your right there pal, a real PITA. It takes time to go through all the menus and settings. Start with the basics and build on that.
Just set up the basics for now and you can tweak later. If you don't have a gyro, make sure it's turned off. Then go for basics.
Throttle, rudder, aleron, elevator. Yes, the trim levers are digital, not sliders. However, it's easy to get use to. You'll notice that with each movement of the trim, it will advance or decrease (depending on direction you push the lever) +/- 2. With each change, you'll hear a "beep", when it goes back to zero, you'll hear a much louder "beep'. It's a notification of zero trim, when your flying so you don't have to look at the screen to see where you're at. Takes time to learn,,, you've already learned a ton, just one more thing to add to you data base(brain).

Dave / Choppersrule
