Ok toady I got the Belt-Cp setup with New G401b gyro and new servo and main blades. I had It tuned PERFECT best I have ever done before blades tracked great. So I took it outside to finish the setup of tail(didnt take much). Spooled it up 1 or so little hops to trim it out the BAAAM the main blades blew apart at the roots. One landed about 60-70 ft away by my truck, the blades stuck the tail boom, hit the New canopy and tossed my lipo 10 ft away, broke my tail blade spindle, and mangled my CopterX head. When i walked up to it i noticed the new CF blade( found the other 15mins later)it was foam on inside with a fiberglass root and the covering is plastic. So here it is in a nice pile again

Kyle....I've the exact same thing happen on a Kingv2...blade (plastic) failed at the root...it wasn't mine either. I gotta say my carnage was a lot less than yours. I had just installed a complete CNC upgrade on it for a guy...I didn't make a dime on that one, had to use the $$$ to buy parts (LMAO). One minuet, yer watching a decient hover, next minuet...parts flying everywhere. Man....they EXPLODE on a root failure.

Oh my gosh Kyle. You can see that it was a separation of the main blade from the heli. I'm so sorry to see that. I would hope that the company that makes those rotors or the company that sold you those rotors makes it right by you. Geese that is terrible[:@]

I hope soon Blessings,

Jay

OUCH! That had to be discouraging. I've heard of it happening before. Like Jay said, with the video evidence, maybe you can "coax" the vendor to help you out for more than just the blades. Hang in there, we've all been down this type of road before.

JPEE-Another super video by you and lookyJ! You really let that sucker loose, it was great watching.

VIC! Glad to hear of a glitch free flight for you! Lets hope it continues and good luck in the open field, I'll bet you are charging the batteries as we type! Any chance of some video?

Hello Guys,

I want tosay thanks to Lookyj for posting the video and for letting mt fly the Vapor, they are really a lot of fun. If you guys like your MCX's then a Vapor is that much fun but its a plane. As far as the dog chase, ya had to be there to see Lookyj run that hard, youd-ah swore somebody called him for SUPPER or something. BTW, the dog was BIG like a Golden Labrador. Today the owner pulled up to our staging area and we all laughed about it. The dogs master said; MANCANYOURUNFAST to Lookyj........... LMAO he really said that!
YES I did consider making Lookyj's 450 MINE.....................but as discribedabove, I cantout run him for it. And lastly, it was ashame to see the finely tuned CX2 come down, it was kinda shocking how fast it happened. He was just coming in off of the Park grass then dreaded blade clack got him and she came down on the asphalt OUCH!

About Lookyj hitting the light post. In my early days Ihit three times, so is behind me on that, LOOKYJ wanna play catch up? On a serious note, since hitting that dang pole I now stand right next to it with back to it so I know where it is.

Kyle, man Iam sorry to see that heli come apart. It is just amazing that you caught it LIVE so to speak and even more amazing and thank God you were not injured by flying debris.

Jim, I may not be the best flier here but I fly "all out" or in Jeffs words, like I stole it LOL, thanks to you and Jay forthe nice words.

Well it was a Ebay purchase and the seller is not helpful. So I learned my lesson on blades Dont buy knockoffs. Next I WILL be buying Align blades or some other trustworthy brand.

on the subject of RETURNING stuff and SUPPLIERS WHO RESPOND (or don't) here is a satisfying story that happened yesterday:
My RC student purchased the T-34 RTF from the LHS; and paid $ 500.00 plus tax.....He takes it to his relative's wide open property
takes off and CRASHES it violently. so he calls me to see if I would be willing to repair, since he has absolutely no modelling experience.
while dissassembling the parts I check each servo and notice that after centering the right aileron has a "factory installed" droop of about
ten degrees. So I ask my student : after the t/o did the plane bank "left" and crash. He assented, that's just what happened. (right aileron
down will cause a left bank!): back to the LHS, the Mgr. suggests to me that HORIZON HOBBY may be willing to help in replacing some
parts. So I write to HH to explain the total events and the apparently defective connection of the aileron in a RTF model. YESTERDAY at
noon HORIZON HOBBY calls me on the phone and makes arrangements for me to return the electronics, minus the battery, and to expect
a full REPLACEMENT of the model....
Now THAT is what I report as SUBLIME CUSTOMER SERVICE !
don't y''all agree ?

It would appear Horizon has done an about face from a couple years ago....that's excellent. I maybe will have to start doing business with them again....so far, I've heard nothing but glowing reports about Horizon as of lately. Maybe they fired their idiots, and brought in people who actually care.

PLUS1 Vic,

HH has been nothing but EXCELLENTto me replacement to of seized motors, 3-1, batteries (3), 400 tail boom struts that were glued wrong, and so mush more. I rate them 200% for customer service.

Also Heli Direct just sent my RA numbers and are taking both 500 Hughes back due to their defects, no questions asked.

Kyle ~

Eh... That's a bummer for the crash. Especially when its not your fault huh ? Hopefully you'll get her in the air soon however... Yeah I was ripping the T-500 out today trying out the new Scorpion motor and Castle esc with a new Outrage 6-cell and was amazed at the power at hand now. My flying space is not big enough to be able to floor the heli with full collective, but man she will literally scream ! LMAO... I stuffed her hardcore right into the ground also ! Amazing how sturdy the heli really is... I hit so hard I even blew out one of my HS5245 MG servos, and there metal gears ! Lol... Well at least I have a couple days to take it apart and see what else I may need from what I already don't have. CF blades will be one... I think I'am going to try the Radix blades everyone raves about.

I'll try and get the video up later tonight or tomorrow... I'am pumped on the power upgrade on it though. Can't wait to take it out again ! Amazing the fiberglass canopy came out with a few scratches and that's it ! Fiberglass all the way for me to protect my stuff underneath ya know ? Hek the Outrage 6-cell even ejected from the heli...LMAO... Oh the joy of learning eh ?! [8D]

Time for some 450 torture...... Gotta keep up with Lookyj.....

Cheers,

~ Jeff

Jeff, [:@] I'm betting you were having a ton of fun

Do you all remember those pesky little BLade CP Pro's... the one the threads named after? Well I decided to put mine up today after a long slumber and had a tail motor go out on me. I was dipping the skids in the water and flying around the water fall. Luckily I heard it start to go and I got away from my pond before I had to set it down. You can clearly see the tail bob at the end of the video when I was above the pond. That's where it started to go. I flew down over the grass and it seemed ok so I was going to go back to dipping the skids and I could tell what was going to happen. The sound alone tells the story and I was blessed to set it down as the motor seized. Man.... that was fun

Here's the video~

Blessing to all!

Great video Jay, those Koi really went nuts for it. You ought to design a payload system where you can feed them with the ole CPPro. It was clear the motor was going to let go, you did the smart thing there!

Horizon Hobby and customer service is second to none, Rick. I haven't had then need to use it but read tons of stories just like yours. They really have it together over there. I just wish they would produce some more for FSOne.

Jeff- Any video yet? Looking forward to hearing that new scorpion "roar"!

Vic- Is the 7C still going glitch free? Have you done the open field flying yet? Hope you are feeling well these days.

JPEE- You and Jeremy make quite a pair! The videos and stories are just fabulous. Keep them coming!

Jim, this 7c is so right, it's like flying a MCX around the yard....any upright orientation you want...it's flawless.

good morning JIM W :

I am a bit OVER EXCITED here ; as you probably already know, my main interest has always been AEROBATICS, competition and practice. Well, back since the mid 70's I have always admired the ULTIMATE BIPE because it is such a perfect flyer and PLUS the lines of the design are really elegant. Yesterday at the LHS the GREAT PLANES ULTIMATE BIPE came in for SALE and was reduced in price. This is COMPLETE SETUP with the OS 1.6 plus EIGHT Dig servos. It is truly ready to go and has only been flown 2 flights, for trimming and balance. Its been witnessed ( owned by the LHS owner ) and I am in the process of back engineering the retail prices to figure out how much difference there is in the actual price that I paid and the true price for the plane in the street. (hence the DS question ! ) so far I am about 60% discount price and happy for having bought it......the PRICE of their toys : + old phartts with no common sense = USA economy recovery ( right ? )
I have been missing, for the past 4 years, flying a good plane, with great Aerobatic capabilities. Of course, I am going to have to get myself BACK into the practice of flying correctly, most of which has rusted up worse than the TITANIC. So that plus the practice on the helis should keep me busy. RICK ... will post the "real" picture when I go to take it down from the ceiling in the LHS.

Rick, your one post that deleted itself. Lol Jim and Rick, I'm gonna take a guess you were talkiing about servos and what the DS stood for.

It's for Digital Servo, Not only JR makes 'em but most of the popular brands make DS servo's, even E-flite (ya there Vic, LMAO!)

Hey Rick,

Quickly again, thanks so much for the Tip on using JB Weld on the fuselage on the HBK 3.. Works good.
Ialso used it on the HBK 2 to fix the hoop like link, for the paddle control link. I know Jay loves it two.. It's still holding the side mirror on his car.

CHOPPERS :
I am truly TRULY glad the JBWELD suggestion worked well for you.
That one is one OLD trick from my hard-working plane days.
I KNOW you would : SNAFU is just that ! KILROY WAS HERE !!!!
JAY
I now have TWO great BIG biplanes , and both are almost READY TO GET AIRBORNE again.
Trouble is : 1 - has to be retrieved from DALLAS ( 288 miles from this garage ) and that involves the trip (GAS) + (Motel) + (boarding 3 animals fees) + losing income from missing days at work .... all of which is considerable Xpenses, plus my unhealthy back. It also involves hooking up the Trailer ( yellow home made, remember the pictures? )
and 2 - the ULTIMATE now needs a SPEKTRUM 7 channel receiver to be matched to the DX-7, and "programmed" plus purchase of a REAL POWEFUL battery system ( considering double batts.) to carry 8 Digital Servos. I really need to get back into my style of flying RC, which is pure Aerobatics, done in the Classic Way; I spurn 3-D which in my opinion is an offense to "real Aviation" !
I am always on my own, and have NOBODY to help me in anything ... so every project is a twice thought over project, even before it gets started. Pathetically, just going with the helicopters to the local RCField is a Major Project most times , simply living is overwhelming me all the time.
I have also done my highwing trainer to carry the gliders, but the permanent GlowIgniter, doesn't work, so THAT has to be taken up to Dallas for the Expert who has
set up the IGNITION SYSTEM in the OSPEGASUS can fix that too.

Too many projects, not enough ME

I JUST BACKED UP INTO THIS POST TO SAY : I WISH I TOO LIVED IN NORTHRIDGE, CALIFORNIA..... At least I would have 2 buddies to fly with ....

Rick ~

Very cool plane ! Can't wait to see some video someday of that beauty for sure...

Lookyj ~

Awesome deal on the trainer heli.... Now you and JPEE can have dogfights in the air !

JPEE ~

Go get ya a Vapor... How could you not...?! TO FUN !

Dang I've been busy and still haven't had the time to order the parts for the 500...LMAO... Hek Everyone seems to be out of the front crown gears also. Eh... But I see now HeliHobby does. Whew.... Still can't find the Radix blades in stock for the 500. I might have to try the MAH's or SABS maybe. Dunno...

Its been windy here pretty good lately.... For like the past 5-6 days... Heh... Its usually not windy at all. Bums me out cause I still need to take the 450 out to the field for a test flight. I've been flying the Logo though. That thing is like flying a big ol' CX2... Way different from the Trex 500 that's for sure. And in a good way, because its nice to have a nice relaxing scale flier. I still need to get longer servo arms for the Logo, as they require 21mm arms and I have like 16mm ones on now like ya saw in the last video in my yard... Lol... Like I said scale flying for that for now...Lol..

Here's the video of my Trex 500 doing a test flight of the new Scorpion motor. What a big diff ! I couldn't even hit full collective or it would be out of sight. For a couple of seconds I did get it to about 80% throttle I believe. Can't really look down ya know ?! I need a bigger area where I can slam it full stick and let it breathe. My dads in Cali would have been perfect up there at the spot on the mountain... The Trex 500 would still eat up the 450 and spit it out side to side Scorpion to Scorpion, on a flat out high speed fast forward flight... They both have the same Castle 80 amp esc. The 500 is a Ferrari !

The stock 500L 1600kv Trex 500 motor by Align puts out about 650/800 watts. The Scorpion 1600kv motor puts out 1470 amps or close to 2 HP. Also the stock motor only throws 35/45 amps where the Scorpion nears 70 amps.... A very nice motor for the short time I gotta play... Hek, I didn't even get to do some punchouts as I just went into forward flight. Another day, and another $170.00.... LMAO !

The video is only 3 minutes long. A brainfart led to it just getting out of control while the heli was nose in and coming out of a turn I'am not most comfortable with. I didn't even try to play superman right when I sensed big trouble so I just hit throttle hold and let it go down. Quite durable ! I'll have to post some pics of the heli when I brought it home and snapped some shots. You hardly could tell. A few scratches on the canopy, hardly can tell, stripped main gear, front and rear crown gears, main CF blades, one of the boom supports popped out of the little cnc holder end like usual but no damage.... Also I did damage my Aileron HS-5245 MG servo... First time I've killed a metal gear servo. LOL.... Flybar also got bent a little, but the main shaft and spindle seem flawless rolling them on a piece of glass. I'll still throw in some new ones and save these as secondary's however. The boom got a little bent also but not much. But that's it... I did a complete teardown and will await for parts hopefully by the end of the week.

Here's a few "after" pics... Again very pleased on the durability... Kinda hard to tell it got stuffed into the ground, looking at the pics.
