Wheeeeeeee.......... Blade CP!
Perfect Dave ! BTW, ever since your tip of the day that you gave for servo extensions and using the tiny heatshrink tube stuff to make it clean and protected after you solder the wires together, I've been doing so far on the CPP and the Funtana and it is the best ! WAY better than how I was doing it before....

Hey Chopper,
Ya done good with that one! I have been using clothes pins for along time. I also use them for soldering becasue they are smooth and unlike allegator clips.

Hey Michael one of the main reasons why I want to go with the F-27 is because it's foam and I can land it easy on grass and not worry about ripping it up. A buddy I fly with is also interested in a foam plane but wants something that's not going to be so fast. But I've seen video's on YouTube where the F-27 can be flown at slow speed and was very stable. But if you guys know of another type of plane simuliar to the F-27 thats not so crazy fast please post a link and let me know. Another reason why I like the F-27 is because I can use my 11.1v 1800mah lipos in it, I wont find myself stocking up on new batteries. Great videos on the Stryker though hahahaha

Heck, I don't know what you guys are talking about, but I'm enjoying it, just as in any group conversation, sidebars and off-topic tangent points are natural. Until they install the 'Binford Forum Parliamentary Procedure Add-On Pack 3000' on here (the new version has little white wigs that are automatically generated onto our profile photos), it's all good.
I'm just trying to think of a term for you guys, since you do both planes AND helis... something along the lines of fence-straddlers or bi-flyuals
. Yeah, I'm working on the terminology still. Don't know what term I'd use for someone that did planes, helis, and cars. Oi, then there's boats.
Off to hack a gyro today, take apart a couple blades for parts... then maybe hit radio shack for a couple of 555 timer chips, I saw a plane fly over head last night while showing a buddy some of developing hovering skills and noticed the sequence of blinks. Think I need to do that
Have fun all!

Hey Jay,
I always start reading all threads backwards....its just my way.

LMAO.... Same here JPEE ! Most the time.... So I guess it wouldn't shock you if I said I will also pick up a magazine, and browse it backwards also ? Right to left....
I always knew I was an odd duck.......

I'am the same way, and like to use my 3s 1800-2200 lipo's in other crafts also to make them useful. My RC-Cars take them, my Typhoon and Funtana plane also take the same batts, and if I wanted I could also double them up to use in the T-500, but have other batts for that. But it just makes it nice to get more bang for your buck so to speak...
A fresh 3s battery goes first to the T-450, as the heli's will want and need that good battery... As they get maybe a little tired, I'll then use one, (or them) for my plane(s) since they don't "draw" as much amps and energy like my heli's do and I'll fly them for awhile like that. Then, there last stage they get used with the RC-cars of mine and that's where they then spend there last bit of life, since the cars don't draw as much also... But the batts do get banged around hardcore, from crashing, flipping, etc. etc. I still have a couple lipo's for my cars that I just can't seem to kill yet. Lipo's are much more tolerant than some might think.... Depending on brand I'am guessing though...
I'am still waiting to kill my first one. I have Thunder-Power, Air thunder's, E-Flite's, and a few Parkzone lipo's, a couple Outrage lipo's... All very good ! And troublefree... When I need to buy a few more batts in time here, I'am going to try the Zippy batteries that are probably the most popular battery out there I'am guessing as I browse the forums. Excellent bang for your buck there !
If you get the Stryker, make sure to get the brushless version ! WAY better in my readings..... I had thought it was the F-27C or something like that.... Jer knows....

Hello Joey,
I dont know where you fly your planes but like others I have a few sites. But my "daily" flights" are at the Park a few blocks away. We fly CX2, 400-500-600 heli there and sometimes I bring my T-28 plane. But there was guy with a F16 or something in that family that was flying daily too. That thing was fast but moreover the was LOUD with that induction fan. Whiiiiiiiiiine it would go. Well the Park manager came out of her office one day and told him she had had enough "pack it up she said and DONT come back". She had no probelms with the helis as they are quite. Now again I dont know where you fly but even at my big open area 100-150 acres there is condo complex off to one side. I had thought about a F-16 but with that dang whining I know it would cause complaints there too. So I offer..........consider where you can fly a induction fan type plane. They need room and NO ONE around to complaine.

It sucked when I was down in Cali visiting my dad, because there was NO where to fly and he has lived there for about 35 years. We ended up just flying at the end of a col-de-sac as you remember... This was in Central Cali however, not where JPEE and Jer are. NO parks to fly at, or allow it... Schools.... ? ALL locked up with fences going around them. Why do you think I RISKED it flying at the top of his property at 1600 ft with massive drop-offs on the little flat area I cleared to fly ?!
Yeah.... Desperation baby !
Here in Washington State, you can fly at any school, there all OPEN for you to use and enjoy since yes, our taxes PAY for it...Lol... No fences, or padlocks and chains, etc. etc. Then the parks here same thing. There's probably a park or a facility similiar every 3 miles at least... I think I saw like 1 or 2 parks when I was down there with my dad for that year... CRAZY ! I had thought it would be the perfect place to fly RC stuff is down there, but I was wrong...
The one school a block from my house that you see me fly at, even allows me to drive right on the grass as you see me do, and others also do...

There is a huge Soccer City Park where I have flown that I was told NOT ALLOWED and some have been approched by the Park staff and asked to leave. In fact thelast time I was there with my noob with a CX2 a lady came up on her bicycle and said; you thats not allowed here right, I am going call the Police if you dont leave! I said thank you for making me away and we continued to fly. My thought was if the cops show up "like you" show where it say NOT ALLOWED and see what they do. I agree if aint posted, it aint law!
I will say that on the wekends there are hundreds and hundreds of folks palying on the mutli many fields. But during the wek other than a few bikes and joggers she is EMPTY.

I'm lucky to have a park across the street from me where I fly my helis and smaller foamies. They love us there and the rangers come over to watch. The soccer fields where I like to fly the bigger stuff there is a huge sign that says "no unauthorized usage". It took me for ever to get a hold of the right people but I finally got permission. Like Vic said using common sense goes along way as I told them I would never fly if kids, soccer players were present. Heck it's vacant 90% of the time.

Yeah I have a nice AMA feild that I can fly plus the new local high school has a rather big feild thats backed by farm land so I'm sure I can get away flying there. But thanks for the heads up. I thought they sounded rather loud from the videos.

Common sense and courtesy go a long way. I always tend to ask first if possible. But there are some fields I fly at where I have never asked permission. One is a locally owned park. The township building is just behind the park and they always see me when I fly. They haven't asked me to stop. The thing I look out for is if others are around, especially kids, I as a rule don't fly. Kids are unpredictable and may try to "catch" my heli! Heck, my oldest borther tried that once! [X(]

My friend Chris is a township cop and I asked about flying in the feild owned by the school and he said because there are no houses around and people to piss off that it shouldn't be a problem. Haha Its awsome too because it's HUGE!!!! I'll snap some pics when I get out there again.
When I was in Cali, me and my dad were frustrated there was nowhere to fly.... We even asked the LHS guys who fly, where to go ? They pointed out good luck, and said there is a big field to use close, but you had to be an AMA member... No thanks... Then they said there were some guys flying off from a dried up river bed... We checked that out, and said oh hek no ! Trees everywhere, a ROUGH take-off and landing tiny strip... Forget that... Then they said guys did fly at this one col-de-sac in a slightly newer development area, with ranchland grazing the outskirts, but then they said everyone got kicked out of there...
BUT........ This is where we ended up flying in most my plane vids as you rememeber. It was no problem... There was a walking trail that continued through this col-de-sac, and so as you might remember there was sometimes "walkers" and such... We would only fly early in the morning and carry on the most utmost respect in utilizing that particular spot. This included my dad driving VERY slow in his Corvette through the neighborhood to get there, picking up trash there as a courtesy call, being friendly to any occasional walkers, etc. etc. and it ended up working out great. Eventually we became acquainted with the ones who lived nearby, and they had no problem with us being there whatsoever.
Common-Sense, and courtesy do go a LONG way in this world for anything period.... I agree 100%....

I'am about to puke because I want that 40" wingspan Katana from Precision I'll tell ya...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It costs the same it seems as my Funtana ! In Aussie dollars... Us dollars only $119.00 ! Cheaper by $40.00 than my Funtana... That Katana looks EXACTLY like my Funtana
The thing is just pure... All there planes among that....
http://www.precisionaerobatics.com/p...ls.php?pid=229
The guy who flew one in a video on Vimeo from Precision makes any helicopter pilot look sad ! Are the Katana's a good ship as it seems to me ? Or am I being decieved ?! He lands the thing toward the end like a darn heli straight down and after doing some rolls a few feet of the ground.... Crazy.... I'am getting that sucker..... I'll sell one of my cars or something ! Gotta keep the dog though...........

Talking about picking up some trash at that flying site, made me have some deju-vu from the ol' Navy days..... Remember those fun "F.O.D." walkdown's...?! LMAO.... I also remember when there was the new guys coming in, and we would tell them to run inside and ask one of the pilots for the keys to one of the A-6's and such.... LMAO... He's high-tailin' it running inside asking everyone, and of course they keep him going by telling him, yeah.... Go ask so and so, and he's off again...

Or go get some "pad-eye" remover.......

That was what I was talking about before about me being ''picky'' with a light set-up for purchase... If you look at a real aircraft, I love the crisp bright intense lights, while also the sequence in which they blink. Just looks so cool on our RC's to mimic that... I've only seen a couple set-ups that looked realistic.... Anything less just takes away from the ''hobby grade'' in my picky eyes.
You should really get into making some LED kits for some of these heli's/ planes maybe ? I know your picky, so I know if you got set-up doing that I would probably be your first customer.

It's a bit of a learning curve for me, I only meddle with simple electronic circuits. There are a lot of simple diagrams online, but a lot are 'here's what it looks like', and although I like that, I also like to understand the inner workings too, which takes some background learning, which takes time. Although 555 timer ics are even still very simple circuits, I've never built one and am extremely cautious the first time I build anything. Not so cautious that I voltmeter my cat to make sure he's not carrying a charge, but cautious enough. It's all about the journey!I'm thinking of at least four leds, two for each side, each pair has a steady led and a blinker. That will be the start. Well, technically, a lone blinker will be a start, but I'll get there. I need to figure how complex I really want to make them, for example, if I'm using a 2 or 3 s lipo, I'll need a different resistor for each... to be able to use either or in one connection, I think I'll need a voltage regulator.
Off to figuring out why today's 4-in-1 hack has some serious tail wag issues. Only thing I can mess with now is gain and gyro mounting until I have to rip the darn thing out and resolder.
Take care, all!

Well...here's a weird one for ya. Took my Corsair out, thought I'd try an under hand launch...yeah right. Right out of my hand it tip stalled hard left, I tried to compensate, and keep it from hitting things...like trees!!! Well, I didn't succeed...I put 'er in a tree. Well, I figured it was TRASHED, I heard the prop hitting branches, I heard cracking, the whole 9 yards. It was up higher than I could reach, climbing wasn't an option. Went and got the tractor with the bucket on the front and it was all the way up. Climbed up to the bucket and gently removed the plane from the branches. To my total amazement, the right forward wing tim had a small bite out of it...looked like the Taco-Bell dog bit it, there was NO other damage, not even scuffed paint. I cut the bad section out, squared out the notch, epoxied in the new piece, trimmed, shaped, sanded it, and then painted it. It's a great repair, barely noticable at all. I got LUCKY...a foamie into a bunch of jagged branches, resulting in one small bite out of the wing tip that was easily fixed, man, I feel great. No more under hand launch attempts for me.

Vic,
Your heart must have skipped a beat when that plane hit the trees[X(] I am so glad the damage was minor. I know it was hard work to make the repairs but at least you could make them and did not have to start over!
Let talk again about Park flying. The more I thought about it after reading your post back to me and after I went to the park this afternoon which I rarley do I swung by the Park Building on the oustside wall is a sign that says;
Dogs must be on a leash
No camping over night in the Park
No golfing
"Nothing about not flying RC products".
You'd be so proud. I looked up the Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation on the net, found the a guy high on the contact list and wrote him a letter. In short it said tell me whether I can fly in the Park or not. If not please provide the City Code that forbids it. Again the thats the short version. Lets see what happends hey. You sparked me![>:][>:][>:][>:] JPEE

Yup, the Corsair is good for the next low wind day. The new EXI-450 helicopter...still working the bugs out on the programming messing with the pitch curves. Same heli as before, WAY different personality....LMAO.
Oh...next week, you'll see a sign that says NO R/C Aircraft at that park.
Jeff,
That PA Katana is one fine piece[8D] I have checked into that one as well a few times and might have to pull the trigger if I stuff the 40" Edge540 that I have. I might just do it anyway cause I'm not thrilled with the way the Edge flies. Dan is one heck of a 3D pilot and I've watched his videos for years now. He makes those maneuvers look easy
Vic,
What is it about trees and warbirds? There's got to be some kind of magnet in there. I'm glad it came out with minor damage. Sounds good with the EXI, too. Funny..... same exact helicopter, same set-up, flies completely different! That why I hated stuffing one and rebuilding. I could never get it the same[:@]
JPEE,
I hope you didn't open a can of worms! I've always tried to get permission but if no one bothers me I go by the "Easier to beg for forgiveness." I was President of our local club a few years back as we lost our club field due to noise. Small town politics got us out. In our search for a new field we tried to get into a state park. The ranger that ran the park was more than happy to have us but he said it wasn't his decision. I went to several meetings and multiple phone calls and ended up on the phone with one of four head people from the Department of Natural Resources. He was not even kind when he told me that model aircraft were no longer welcome in state parks and established flying clubs in state parks around the state were likely to be kicked out. It all came down to a four people who could say yeah or ney. In small town politics it doesn't have to be a majority vote.... just takes one to say no.
Blessings,
Jay
That PA Katana is one fine piece[8D] I have checked into that one as well a few times and might have to pull the trigger if I stuff the 40" Edge540 that I have. I might just do it anyway cause I'm not thrilled with the way the Edge flies. Dan is one heck of a 3D pilot and I've watched his videos for years now. He makes those maneuvers look easy

Parks? Only if I cant fly in my yard, bean field behind my house, the field that Jeff likes across the road, or my father-in-laws house(1/4 mile away) There is a soccerfield that is a part-time alfalfa field 15 mins away. So I guess I'm lucky with space to fly and crash.
Yes Jay I know its coming out this week. It looks GOOD!! It is another marked off the list of TV shows that should have movie makes. I probably wont get to go to opening nite only because I'm going to North Dakota on the 13th for aweek to visit friends(old Army buddy) might try to get him to go with me while I'm there.
