More pictures of the HK 450 TT.

Note: In picture #5, with the view of the tail box. Check out the tail grips, they have incorporated the "Chinese Weights" into the grips. They're suppose to reduce vibration and enhance tail response. Just a FYI.

Hi fellas,

I received my 6 channel Futaba RX today, it's for the HK 450 TT Pro. Hard to believe how small things are these days, technology sure has come along way.

The top one is a 7 channel for my Trex 600, with dual antennas.

46u,

Keep us informed, I haven't ordered one yet but probably will, as it would serve to complete my E-Flite fleet, but more importantly a good way for me to show different types of helicopters for another video.

Will keep all posted on the SR. I hope it will be here middle to end of the week. I thought it would be a good learner and cheaper to bang up before I start playing with my T-Rex 500.

Eric...I updated it to the heli frame mounts. I was tired when I wrote it, I may have to go in and clean it up a little.

Chatty fellows lately, aren't we?

Dave- The TT looks real nice, keep us updated. I'm especially curious about the chinese tail weight mod.

Vic- Love the scale fuse. Didyou like the quality so far? Any serious mods you needed to do?

Rick- The work shop looks great. Boy when you get into a project you sure do it right! Interesting about the BOT tail setup. Never heard of it till now.

Jeff- flight report on the SR is a must!

Jay- Yes. I made a mistake with the snow blower. Yet I will submit to you that I need more exercise than he does. The belly has been a bit round lately[:'(]

PLEASE allow an OLD MAN to try and fool himself on how he can FLY A HELICOPTER.
This is what arrived in today's mail ! ( 3 pics )
UnSolicited ? I think NOT

Out of the BOX and onto the driveway, even without charging the batter it went.
In quite a substantial breeze , the heli is VERY, should I say EXTREMELY SMOOTH.
Hard to hold very steady in one spot, but I detect a slight , very slight BUMPING sideways
in the tail. Still responsive as required. The INNOVATOR 530 is much more Locked-in. !
May need a touch of adjusting on the GYRO ( ? )

Now going on charge. The battery, unfortunately is a 3S 1100 but with the old orange
micro connectors that we used to have with the CP s.... maybe all the other batts. will
fit onto this one.......Battery fits in the same way as T-REX, Up front and tilted forward.
One bit of nuisance, have to pop the canopy totally off to install and connect the batts.

Me I LIKEEEE but then, what do you expect from a doddering old fool HA HA

Rick,

Congrats on the new SR, you make me think, I need to get one too. Always have fun, and with your new arrival, I'm sure you do.

A couple things I want to mention.

1) You said, a quite substantial breeze and hard to hold in one spot. That will be almost impossible, because of the disk area and the weight of the helicopter. In a breeze, just keep it moving around and develop more flying skills.

2) On the batteries from the old CP's we had, and the orange connectors. I don't remember exactly, but I think the old batteries were 2 cells and 7.4 volts. The new one you have for the SR is a 3 cell and 11.1 volts. The old ones would work, but may not have the power to lift it off the ground. Can't hurt to try, though.

Hoping all is well, fine and dandy,
Dave

Cool Rick mine hopefully will be here by the weekend. Being there is not a LHS anywhere near me I am looking up some spare parts. Some of the parts are the same as the CP PRO 2. I am guessing at this point about 1/4 are the same.

HI Guys,

A couple more pictures of the HK 450 TT build. I should have it completed tonight and ready for a test hover tomorrow. Either in the garage, or outside, weather permitting.

Almost 50 degrees today, and the snow is almost gone. Except for the big drifts.

Dave

Hello Vic,

What a project and what a success story. Clearly you put in numerous hours a lot of love and a huge amount of skill into this build. Let me congratulate you on your fine accomplishment and simply say.............Fly On Bother..............

I must also commment "well done" on the "Thread" you started to share this project with the RC Community, Kudo's!

Thanks John and Jim. The project had potential to be a disaster, and it come out great. Waiting on a couple sets of rotor blades right now. Kip Neby used 335mm, which I thought looked "floaty", so I ordered 325mm and 335mm in fiberglass (FRP's at X-Heli). All I have right now is 315mm. They will fly the A-109, but everything is maxed out as far as head speed and pitch...batteries get hot too....need more disc area. The balades should be here in a day or so, then I just need to find a spot where there's not any MUD so I can fly it and really tune 'er in....spring thaw ya know. Everything here in the country turns to MUD this time of year.

Rick,

Please kick yourself in the BUTT. Remember your Raptor and ALL the helis you have and do very well with them all. Your planks, your gliders, two at a time.
You are someone, that impresses me every day. Get ya a glass of wine and relax for a minute or two.

Dave

It is a beauty, and glad you did your own paint job with the trouble you had finding matching colors.

Rick, glad to hear you're enjoying the SR!

Rick.....snap out of it buddy....you do fine. How many of us here have a .30 sized gasser or better......I think ONE other person I know of, he's running a .50 (Kyle?). Dont you DARE leave us....."I'll have to get roudy with ya". MAYBE you don't realize (Dave and many others do as well as I), you bring to this thread a touch of class, elegance, and sophistication...and WE LIKE IT (not to mention TRUE FRIENDSHIP and a whole lot of years of experience). There...I put my two cents worth.
