All most through the 4 charge I had my first bad blade strike and the swash plate separated. That is not a big deal as I have a spare swash plate and might be able to fix the one on it but I just ordered extra blades today. Wish I had ordered more then 2 sets of blades.
I do not know if I will ever do 3D. I love watching it but not sure it is for me. One of my problems is my eyes are very poor.

THANKS DAVE ;
The stew was appreciated. It was a bit easy on the PAPRIKA but tasty.
I have read the remaks y'all offered on the helicopters. I am WELL PLEASED with all that I have
and now, having done the SECOND full 8minute flight with it, this afternoon, I am getting it to the
point where I have it nailed. Now I need the SPACE out in the RC field to go into FF, piros, etc
which y'all have seen me do with the HBK2 and 3 and also the T-REX and both the INNOVATORS.
mY DRIVEWAY is restrictive, not seen is a big PINE TREE about 3 foot to the right, behind the garage
door, close by the mail box.....so only hovering is attempted. The more flights I put into this SR it
seems to be breaking in nicely, getting smoother and softer....truly "breaking in" ? makes me wonder.
I have flown two full flights on the SR, so far. Halfway through the second I experimented with the dual rates
and also with the STUNT MODE. Even tried my first AUTO from about 4foot high but was not able to see anything
happen, really, it just came down, maybe on it's own very light weight, it certainly did NOT get pulled down at all.
I do use throttle hold, very easy to use and remember, it's the tall switch on the right side. Once airborne I plan
to experiment for the first time with FLIPS and inverted......I feel I can get something done, since at the SIM I got
it nailed. Stay TUNED......THANKS TO ALL FOR PUTTING UP WITH READING ALL THIS CRAP TRASH I KEEP WRITING.
OVERALL : I truly love each one of my 14 helicopters.....each has it's own personality and they ALL fly well for me.
Of course I don't PUSH them hard enuff being a SOFT HEARTED OLD FOOL THAT AYE YAM [

Jeff / 46u,
I've noticed over the years, that we all have a tendency to Over Analyze, any given product. Helis or cars or whatever, it's just our nature. The MSR will be more stable compared to an SR, because it's a Fixed Pitch helicopter, where the SR is CPPM. More parts moving and more room for slop and erratic flight perfomance. Hard to get Plastic down to 1/1000th of an inch. Conversely, the coaxial helicopters are VERY stable, but lacks in performance with FFF. The coaxials and MSR's have no capability of doing 3D manuevers, the SR does. The SR will fly inverted. Check out youtube. Our hobby is meant to be fun, and a challenge. If the challenge wasn't there, I'd take up knitting. Yikes! I can knit. Never mind.

Hi Fellers,
Finally had a good day here in Indy.. I got the Trex 600 out, and did get an early flight in. What a rush that was, nothing special, hovering, FF, FFF. Only got on flight in for the day. I only have one battery and the wind kicked up. Later, I went to the mail box and my Torque Tube gear sets arrive. Yippppeee
Also, I ordered the Trex autorotation tail gear drive, the original was a tiny warped. It took about 1/2 hour or so to change all that out.
I wasn't real happy with the carbon fiber rod and bead, that I added to the vertical stabilizer to give me a little more ground clearance. Soooo, I looked around in boxes of junk I've collected over the years and found some plastic skids. I cut off one of the poles from the skids, and attached to the stabilizer with a few globs of epoxy. I let that set for about 10 minutes. Then I took some black sewing thread. About 6 feet long, folded it into 1/4's, so it was 4 threads thick. I wrapped that around the skids and stabilizer and every so often, put a dab of CA on the threads. Now it's as strong as Jay.

Dave,
I glad to hear you had a great day! Nice job on the tail mod, too.
Rick,
my buddy just sent me this video of his SR. You need to bind the SR to a DX to get inverted... you'll see

Jay...I watched the whole video...I'm shocked the servos didn't strip out. Never seen that kind of luck in my life...schmucked it...and kept flying. VERY FUNNY STUFF. NO I'M NOT GONNA GET ONE.
Glad things are going good....keep it up.

Jay,
Thanks on the comps on the tail mod, the fiber rod and bead, just wasn't cutting the mustard. Needed something a lot more sturdy.
RICK, our man,
Here's another good video on the SR, as I mentioned in an earlier post the SR will fly inverted. Horizon lied again.

Hey Vic,
I finally got a vid of the Cap3DX 42"er. She flies well but don't paint it. If the pink foam doesn't work try the blue. NO Paint
Oh yeah... no HS-55's either. The elevator servo went nuts on my last flight. Stripped from flying, not from crash damage. The E-sky digital from the HBKII are still holding up though.
Here's the vid~

Jay...that looks like fun. I see you guys still have a good amount of snow too. The field out back is ALMOST clear enough for the uproar as far as snow being gone, but I haven't walked it to check for standing water....tomorrow it may happen though. I did 2 flights out back with the EXI which is back to stock till I figure the A-109 out (in storage until ?). Nothing crazy cause we had 8+mph winds so I kept it at high speed runs and vertical stall turns. It was OK, but the comfort factor wasn't there as yet. Wind caught me on one pass, blew me 30yds to the east, the gyro held direction (N/S) like a rock. AT the end, I was about 15-18ft up, comming around to bring it in and the LVC shut 'er down. I auto rotated in with no problems.

When you're up in the air flying and the motor stops for whatever reason (and as long as your gears didn't lock up), establish a glide path or angle of attack of where you're gonna land. When you're comming in and get close to the ground, pull back a bit on the elevator and increase cyclic pitch. this will cause the helicopter to basically flare like an airplane and increase in cyclic will cause it to land gently, and help slow it down. Watch a few you tube vids on auto-rotation...you'll get the idea.

After my 5th charge my main blades are pretty beat up on my SR but I have 5 sets and 2 more battery packs on the way. I am finally in the SMALL place I am practicing getting where I am getting 1 or 2 minute hovers before I have to set down to keep from hitting something not real sable but still I am not scooting around on the floor. I hope when I get my new blades and battery packs I get a day with out any breeze and I can go where I have a bigger area. I think this well help a lot! Just hope no one notices the blade strikes on the furniture and walls. [X(]

Jay- For godness sake, that is an AIRPLANE not a HELI!!!! LMAO You have some amazing talent in your thumbs. Must be all that Wright blood you have in ya!
Vic and Jeff- sorry to hear of your incidents. We've all been there before. Get 'em back up quickly!
The Sunday afternoon I THOUGHT I would have to myself was ruined by an e-mail of a makeup hockey game for my oldest. Still no flying on my end.[

HAVE BEEN TRYING OUT all the different batteries that will make the SR run (off the driveway)
Couldn't stood it s'moah and grabbed the heli, the transmitter and four batteries and drove
two blocks to a wide open space available in the neighborhood.
Was trying the 3S 800mAh Lipos from the previous helis and they do very well. so: theoretically
I can fly the SR for more than 3 hours with all the batts here. [X(]
In the wide open space I had to take off rather "positively" because the terrain is very rough.
I have to report that this SR is a pleasure to FLY. Truly a delight.
It is VERY responsive, but mildly so. I was in STUNT mode, with HIGH dual rate. the breeze WAS
present quite steady must have been at 5 or 6mph.
She turns very nicely, PIROs are neither fast nor slow, just right in my opinion. Both directions.
The breeze, when it gusts, picks up the HELI quite a lot, but with it being so LIGHT, that's it....for real
it's supposed to jump.
now that I have it flown, the comparison with the HBK gets more "refined" the flying is quite close in
performance but this SR appears to be somehow mellower. (bad description ? ) or the HBK series and
maybe the TREX also is more sharply defined by the finger input.
I would describe the true value of this HELI lies in the "jump" from simulator to REAL LIFE...which is what
has held me back for so long......this SR helps a lot.
I will go against the CRASH-CRASH opinion by saying that I DO LIKE THIS LITTLE SR
RICK
Rick,
It great to hear that you are enjoying the SR so much. My friend seems to like it quite a bit as well. I'm glad your having fun
Jim,
I wonder if there is a little Sikorsky in me as well
Maybe it's just the Wright's side of pushing the limits, just ask my wife... I do it everyday
Have fun with the kids, you only get to do that once as they grow
Your a good Dad.
Blessings,
Jay

I feel good I got all most 5 charges before breaking anything particularly in the SMALL area I am learning in as I have talked to many who go the SR and messed it up in 5 seconds much worse then I. I keep many parts around because there is not a local hobby shop any where close and being a racer when I go to a race I take just about enough to build a whole other vehicle. I have some where around 40 RC vehicles and probably have as much in parts as I do the vehicles. All so I have been in the hobby long enough to know when they discontinue a vehicle many times parts get hard or impossible to find.
