Howdy folks, new to this site. as green as they could be. "In the RC world" anyways. Bought a toy, you know the reflex and said others at local chain store ie Walmart. Anyways I liked it and a friend of mine talked me into buying something more serious. So I bought a E-Flight Blade cx2 I invested over $250 out the door. And have seem to outgrow it within a couple of weeks. I talked to my dealer and he asked if I could fly backwards? I said yes. In control making turns? I said yes . I even fly outdoors which wind is bad, but I've learned to use it to my advantage. He suggested a blade CP Pro. But what's your opinion on the next step? I like my CX2 but the stuff I try to do to this heli can't handle it do to blade strike, underpower, etc. The reason I ask is there is a website called bladecx2.com with amazing videos that show there product beating under power with there new moters and beating blade strike with ther upgrades. Anyways if there hop ups do work should I keep my cx2 for indoors or buy something again more serious?

If you seem to have outgrown your CX2 in a few weeks, all the hop ups in the world are not going to make it fly better enough to renew your interest. In my opinion you would be wasting your money. Go with the CP Pro, however be forewarned, flying a CP is very, very, different than flying your CX2.

I will state again............ that website you mentioned is a guy from canada fleecing unsuspecting new CX and CX2 owners. All the parts can be bought for less than half the price he wants and the modifications can easily be handled by anyone who can read or post questions. [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_5298052/tm.htm]Ultimate CX2 Mod Guide[/link]
Please do not give away your hard earned money to scum who try to tell you they have superior parts. He buys all the same stuff we do and repackages them and sells them at a highly inflated price.
Sorry JP44 but I have to disagree with your reply....... not totally, I do agree that navigator is ready to move up to a more involved heli, but he can also do some mods to the CX2 that would improve its flight abilitys and reduce and eliminate some of the flaws that cause its limitations. There is a wealth of info on these lil coaxials and I enjoy flying mine with some of the modifications just as much as i do my TREX or 2 Blade CP's
Another site to get some great info on is http://www.heli-max.net/mediawiki/in..._and_CX2_Setup

fliteofthenavigator,
If you are going to be serious in this hobby and if you are going to continue with helis, then I suggest you do move on to a more serious heli.
Don't get the Blade CP though. The reason why is because it has a tail motor and tail motors have too many problems. They don't have enough power, they don't keep the helicopter stable, and they burn out very quickly.
I suggest you get a Trex 450 if your budget is high and if your willing to spend over $600. If not, then I suggest you get the Falcon 3D or the Honey Bee King 2.
The Falcon 3D has a shaft driven tail and a heading hold gyro (which makes the helicopter much more stable). It also has a Brushless motor and ESC and a Lipo battery.
The Honey Bee King 2 has a belt-driven tail, but it doesn't have a heading hold gyro. It has a Brushed motor and ESC and not Brushless, but it does have a Lipo battery.
Anyways, the Honey Bee King 2 costs $150 here at JagHobbies: http://www.jaghobbies.com/rc_planes/ek1h-e016a.htm
The Falcon 3D costs $280 at Hobby Lobby: http://www.hobby-lobby.com/falcon.htm
I have the Falcon 3D and it's a great heli. I think you should go with the Falcon 3D, but it's your choice.
I hope this helps

Hey everybody, thanks for all the info. Arrownaughtic that upgrade page is awsome now it looks like it's cost efficient to upgrade my CX2. Thanks for saving the greenbacks from the other guy in canada. Just a few more questions, the parts from Dynam Vortex are they compatible with E-Flite bearings, swashplate etc. ? Do I need it all or just the shafts, motors and flybar? Also I still plan on buying a more serious heli and have heard good things about the honey bee and cp pro is there anyone heli that is good for beginers but still fully capable of aerobatics?

Correct the King2 comes with a rate gyro, however a lot of people mistake it for a HH Gyro. Probably because the gryo is not built into the other electronics and it mounts on the back just like the Eflight HH gryo. So at first glance it might appear to be a HH gryo.
I have a King2 and a CP Pro. The King2 is a much better heli for the money. One thing I like about the CP Pro is flight times are much better because it is a smaller heli and a whole lot lighter. Besides that the King2 has my vote for the $200 range RTF's

I thought the HBK2 just came with a rate gyro? I don't think it comes built in with a HH gyro for 150.... does it?

DrunkYoda, I lost a weight on my flybar and had to replace it so I removed the linkage off the old one and saved the remaing weights incase this happens again but anyways I put the old linkage on the new flybar and this improved my blade tracking over using just one it also seem to help the stabilty abit. I wouldn't run out and by another flybar just for the linkage. Wait till it needs one, or check ArrowNautic's post above to get the upgrade short bar with 2 linkages already installed. And many other affordable good upgrades.

Where did you get the mods? Was it expensive?
Thanks,

Sorry JP44 but I have to disagree with your reply....... not totally, I do agree that navigator is ready to move up to a more involved heli, but he can also do some mods to the CX2 that would improve its flight abilitys and reduce and eliminate some of the flaws that cause its limitations.

madspec where did you get your upgrades? How much did it cost you in the long run? I have a blade cx and i dont wanna spend the extra money to buy a new heli i like the one i have and just upgrade it and improve the flight of it. I saw the guy in canada that has the parts and some of them look like they would be fun but the price is a little steep for me. What other place could i get those at cheaper price? Thanx

Save your money don't buy from the guy in Canada. You didn't read this forums replys, judging by your questions. Lots of good advice in here if you look. I'll give you my advice, check the reply from ArrowNaugtic he has links to the upgrade list for CX2 heli's. Now I've tried all the products from Dynam Vortex and there good except the motors# VTX-018 these did not work. They produced little power and did not respond to my inputs. Use stock motors just keep them cool with a heat sink from E-Flight. Now the shafts both inner and outter and short flybar are fine. They do require some modification, the upper blade mounting post are too short and need trimming. I did this using a razor blade keep trimming until they engage properly and most importantly move freely. Next mod is the flybar, the upper link fits great this is the bar it's made for, but the lower doesn't fit it's too small use your factory lower link and if needed remove the threaded part that joins the 2 using a pair of needle nose pliers just don't damage the threads. These mods will help prevent blade strike when doing stuff you should'nt do with this heli. For your last question bphobbys.com seems to be the cheapest. I spent just over $25, but without the crappy motors it will be much less.[:@]

Holding the rudder left is speeding up the lower head, left motor. I would try adjusting the mixer pot counter clockwise to deliver more power to that left motor. Also If you've had some hard crashes there could be a problem in the 4-n-1

Tail Boom and superskids can be bought from stersman.........at www.boomtownhobbies.com
Just for pleasure.......... my hyundi styled Lexus is alot of fun to fly and costs so little to fix and keep flying that it definately is a good thing to upgrade. My TREX and Blades cost twice as much to fix when I stuff them. Aggresive flying with a coaxial heli is more fun than it sounds like. I stuffed mine into a bush up camping and only broke one lower blade, it was fixed and flying within 5 mins and finished out 2 batterys with it.
I will agree that if you are looking for more aggresive style flying then yes........go with a CCPM heli with a belt driven tail or shaft driven tail rotor. But also be aware that higher head speeds and less forgiveness isn't what everyone wants. I enjoy the hobby enough to appreciate all styles of flying and with different types of helis. If you are finding yourself getting bored with what you are flying, then yes......upgrading a little makes a huge difference, just stick with the tried and true upgrades and don't get suckered by the smoke and mirrors that some try to sell you.
navigator........did you break in those Vortex motors before you installed them? Or did they just not even work for you at all. I have heard mixed reviews and some loved them......some hated them. I wopuld love to hear how many did a break in on those before install and if it helped or not. My stock ones are close to giving up the ghost (down to 6 min flight on full battery) so if they really aren't what one expects then I will go with the Extreme Motors from boomtown hobbies

Sure you can do the upgrades, but it is still a CX2, with only limited improvement. Why upgrade a Hyundi to look like a Lexus when it still drives like a Hyundi, and you really want a Lexus.

I drained 2 batteries using the dynam motors recharged and tried again with one battery still results were poor so I changed back and have been flying happily since. The only strange thing I noticed with the dynam motors was when with a fresh battery first lift off I could gain altitude not at record speed, but it went up all the way. From there any manuver brought it down, or hovering longer than 5 sec. brought it down. From there on I couldn't get 3 feet off the ground. That's why I suspect the electronics maybe battery discharge rate or the esc in the 4-n-1. The motors did not even get hot nor did the battery. And as far as break in, not sure have to ask the myth busters. That's up for debate. To my knowledge I don't think there is a break in period for any electric motor. Just power up and go, like a drill or ceiling fan.

there is the link to the break-in. he put a lot of time into preparing it and it is GOOD info!

The break in process is all about seating the brushes on the commutator. Most of the people who run brushed motors hook up the motor to a C or D cell battery and let them run until the battery is dead. navigator...... you are right in that you DO NOT have to break in these motors, but all the ones I have done seem to last longer and run smoother. After only about 10 mins of breaking in I can hear the motor smooth out and start to run quieter. I usually run mine for only an hour with a D cell battery, then clean out the motor with warm air and add a drop of oil to each end of the can. I have a Blade CP that has at least 20 hrs of flight on it and it seems to be holding up fine. My CX2 I bought used and it definately never got a breakin on the motors but has lasted at least 10 - 12 hrs so far.
The other option is the Xtreme 180's from www.boomtownhobbies.com or www.miracle-mart.com Those motors are supposed to be alot stronger and the brushes are replaceable.
