Im thinking about getting a head lockin gyro instead of a couple aluminum upgrades. Is that a good idea. And for those who do have one, tell me about it.

What are you going to put it on daniel? It is a definate good buy no matter what you use it on, and it will work on other setups too. I see one of the guys in the TREX thread using a G90 on his 450XL. Not having to constantly fly the tail will make your heli feel like a new animal. I say go for it, I love my HH on my TREX and will probably get something cheaper for the Blade CP, but I am in agreement.........a gyro that works with you as opposed to against you........win/win situation.

I have the GY90 on my CPP and love it. I am fairly new to helis and only flew my CPP a few times before getting the 90. You will still have to manage the tail a bit but it makes a huge difference. I would get the gy90 and do the dual tail mod before aluminum upgrades. Just my opinion though.

Daniel, you will be much better off getting the HH gyro instead of aluminum upgrades, especially if your heli head is smooth. You can always get aluminum ungrades later if u wanna. cltmte is correct, if u wanna do a usefull mod, do the twin tailmotor mod, that mod is almost a must, if for example u have only 1 tailmotor and it goes out, your heli will crash. 2 tailmotors will definately decrease that chance of crashing. I'm not a big fan of HH gyro's, but it will make heli more easier to fly, it will also shorten the life of a single tailmotor, thats another good reason for twin tailmotor mod.

Daniel,
I agree 100% with the others, get the gyro and forget the shiny blings. The Pro flys fine with stock head and grips.
The thing that makes any heli fly better, is correct mechanical set up and your abilities, not the bling thing. Maintenance is important to, periodically, lubricate all the bearing and check gear mesh. I'm an over-oiler, I lube everything after 10 flights, 50 flights is more resonable.
Here's a link for a telebee/zoom gyro, I have one on my T-rex 450 and it works fine, and a little less expensive than the G90.

hey, choppers is back =) where ya been bud? hope life's been treating you well =)
I dunno if these cyro's are any different, but I remember back in the day when I was looking at telebee I noticed about 3 or 4 different gyro's by them that were all $60 bucks. Choppers or someone else might be able to tell you the difference, but the only differences I could find were the weight. This one weighs in at 6g, so it might also be worth looking at.

if you wanted to go with the bit better quality and the g90, you might also look at the LT2100 that's a really nice gyro, infact most reviews I've seen compare it pretty equally to the gy401, but it has more features, like you can adjust the limit in each direction and there are LED's that tell you what is going on with the gyro instead of just one LED. It's about 100 bucks shipped.

Mrasmm,
Been busy, you know, house, work and stuff.
Danieldwrek,
If you'r not doing any 3D manuevers yet, the links posted for the "Telebee/Zoom" is a very qood gyro, it's a dual rate gyro, meaning it has Head Holding capabilities and that of a rate gyro. Just flip a switch, I'm not familiar with the LT2100 at all that Mrasmm mentioned.
As mentioned earlier, I have the zoom on my Trex, and it holds it rock solid. But, I don't do 3D stuff.

Definitely get the gyro, however, it may interest you to know that the Telebee HH gyro is the same gyro used by eflite and even marketed under the align 500 brand. Just look at 'em and youll see that the only difference between them is the sticker on the front...and the price. I went HH upgrade on my CP Pro along with a direct drive tail mod (about $15) and it was like flying a new heli, much more locked in and I could fly it fairly fast sideways with no rudder input whatsoever. Aluminum makes your heli a bit more crashworthy and also heavier...neither of which makes it actually funner to FLY. Check out the telebee, align, and eflite gyro's [link=http://www.helidirect.com/index.php?cPath=46]here[/link] to see what I mean.

I run the telebee in my blade and it worls great and setsup exactly like the g90. Just follow the instructions in the eflite manual. [8D]
The only reason for the g90's price is if your really think you may use it with a digital servo at some point. I believe that the g90 has a digitals servo setting. The telebee does not. However, if you want to run a digital servo on a tail, I think just about anyone will advise on going with a futaba setup anyway. Industry standard for performance.

I have my CPP deck out with aluminum bling bling and it's much more then just bling. The CNC head has zero slack and fly's much better, huge difference. I'll never go back to plastic, my CPP is a total different monster, it's so much easier to fly. Just my 2 cents.
