Something quite strange has recently happened. I was flying my cpp and after about 10 seconds in flight after adjusting the gain and proportional on the 3in1 before fully taking off the thing just went by itself full throttle and then up and down, afraid of losing it I chose to do what was best at the time and crash land it upside down. After a nice funky chicken it finally stopped (one thing that might be significant is that I increased proportional and when I tailed to the left it seemed to stop but I am not positive if this was a quincidence). I turned it all of and set it back to normal and tried again, got a nice short flight but it did the same thing when landing throttling down but I recovered quickly and grabbed the bottom of the heli and turned it off. The only thing new around the area was a laptop pc but I have always had other laptops without any problems. Can anyone tell me what might be wrong? It seemed like radio interference but nothing is different in the area except for a different laptop opposed the the one I had before. It did it when the laptop was outside and inside.

Well I did change the routing slightly because I have stopped using trainers and I used to have the antenna coiled around one leg of the trainer pod. I suppose I may have flipped to Idle up but I kind of doubt It because when I couldnt get the rotors to stop I went upside down so I would not lose It way up in the sky and If idle up was on it should have still gone up upside down with negative collective. Just incase can you tell me how the antenna should be routed and also with the controller facing you flat on the ground, should the idle up be switched away from your or towards you to turn it off?
,thanks for your replies

If you went upside down then it was in idle up. You cannot get negative pitch unless you are in idle up. The idle up switch we be towards you to be on and toward the back of the radio to be off. If you are in idle up anything past half way is putting negative pitch in the blades and will cause it to flip around on the ground do to the severe force applied to the ground. Hope this helps and good luck. Mike

Sorry, I kind of gotta clear that up. I went upside down to crash it because I didn't want to lose it (basically it was going on and off full throttle by itself and in fear of it sky rocketing and me losing it somewhere far away I just spun it upside down so it would fly into the ground and crash), I recently found out that Idle up was off for sure. I did a radio check with the tail motor and servos and they worked fine but I am still not sure about the main motor. I am afraid to test it but one thing was that I had the antenna coiled around the legs until the end was not showing if this may affect the radio?

I ran mine thru an antenna tube an then wrappend it around the boom. It worked fine that way as long and the radio can read it it should be fine. If you did a radio check and it worked fine than that should not be the problem. You kinda have me stumped, the only thing I could think of would be you don't have enough voltage going thru the radio or a bad spot in the antenna. You might run a check on the wires and make sure no bad spots and maybe replace the radio batteries and see if you have a bad battery. Thats the only things I can think of that would do what you are saying. It really sounds like it is not reading the radio correctly. Check the crystals as well and make sure they are in tight, you might even pull them out and reinstall them to make sure it did not knock it lose on impact. Sorry I cant be more help. Mike

ok, thanks again for your response. I thought I may try pulling the main gear off and testing it to see if it does it again. I may have had bad batteries, I replaced them. I think I will try what you said with the antenna too cause I have tubes for my trucks antenna. Also how do you remove the crystals from the stock cp pro radio and 3in1?

Also keep in mind that Carbon Fiber is highly conductive, so as much as ya can, try and veer your antenna away from it. It will cause radio shadowing and active RF interference. Another thing that helps for me at least, is making sure my AA batts are topped off fresh before my flights of the day. I use Sony rechargeables in my TX, as I still have yet to bind my two CPP's to my DX-7. If the batts in the TX, get a little low, I'll pick up a glitch here and there... If it gets really annoying, try switching crystals. One feller on here lived a few miles from a prison, and his CPP drove him mad with glitches, and he just couldn't figure it out. Especially on the weekends, the glitching wasn't bad...Turned out being the communication equipment that was sparkin the spasms with the heli...lol..He switched crystals, and solved his ordeal. Ya could have had a trucker with a juiced up CB crusing by 10 miles away....?!
Either way, the history on the forum here shows the stock TX's for the CP and CPP's are weak, and faulter in time. Make sure when ya take your TX back apart, to look for any loose connections (solder points especially), make sure your batts are snug and secure, and with a fresh charge. Antenna FULLY out. Hope this helps....
Let us know how it goes, & good luck....

Hi, I changed the wiring of the antenna and that seemed to do the trick, had it flying around today. Thanks again everyone for your support
