oooooooooooo, it might be with cyclic input. . . i was trying to test that, but i am in a small place hovering so no cyclic is tough (too windy outside) but i think that might be the case. . . i still cant tell tho'. -evan |

Somewhere I posted the "drop test" to check for collective freedom, have you tried this to confirm that the collective mechanism isn't sticky anywhere? You probably have done so. So do you have any other servos you can try? If the forward servo is really bad it can jump around and cause heavy nodding, but this usually can be seen in the attitude change of the heli. When yours jumps, does it stay level, or is there a pitch attitude change as well? |

One other thing to check: shaft end play. I noticed this when I was building my stocker yesterday. If the main bearings arent' quite seated when you put the shaft thru, it is possible to tighten down the retaining collar and think you have removed all end play in the shaft, then when the bearings seat properly the shaft will have some play. This will of course move the relative positions of the head and the swash, resulting in collective pitch changes as the shaft slides up and down thru the end play.
Even as little as 0.040 inch (1 mm) end play can make a huge difference in pitch at the blades. Properly adjusted the end play should be 0.0000 to 0.0005 (yes, half-a-thousandth of an inch.) So this means tight but not too tight, just enough end play that you cannot see it but might be able to feel it if you are sensitive. |

Of course we in the frozen north could be getting different product, we sometimes do, the Budweiser here is muuuch better than in the states... :D |

justin, i'd definitely say, ditch those plasti blades, oh, which ones are you using btw? flat bottoms or sim? get some woodies, simmetrical ones. they'll make your headspeed higher.
i think you've got your dx7 already? use it on teh blade, make the throttle curve something like 0, 50, 80, 100, 100. oh, but set your throttle ATV first, because max throttle (when the red led comes on) is about 70% (on my futaba 7c anyways). but really, use woodies. i have a set of cf blades and they're heavier than woodies, but they are super smooth and tracks very well, so i'm using them right now. i guess your using flat bottom plasti blades? those will creat more lift at a lower headspeed and stall your motor. don't use them. |

I was useing the symetical plasti blades... But I just went to my LHS and picked up a new tail boom, main shaft, set of sym woodies, DD motor, and heat sink.
My LHS did not had the prop adapter ([link=http://www.heli-fever.com/product_info.php?cPath=6&products_id=192&osCsid=u7 7d2i5mgotupvvfc51s91vvq0]prop[/link]). will the orange blades that come with the motor work? chopperdudes: I am currently useing the stock Tx and Rx but my DX6 should come today... The orange blades work very well, no problem. However, I don't like orange. You could spray paint 'em flat black. Jusk kiddin'. They do work well, and have a totally different sound to them. The stock screws would not hold the DD motor in so I used a little CA and it held great. I wanted to see the DD motor work so I pluged it into the battry and it got my finger [:@] a cupple of cuts nothing bad.

With my gyro if the Ch5 knob is on the left side it works fine but I think this is standard rate but if it is on the right side the whole heli just flips out... random pulses of speed from the main and tail motors...

Uncle Sir, If you cant figure out what the heck is wrong with your heli, send it in to Horizon. You paid extra for support when you bought it, so take advantage of it. Horizon is an awesome distributer/company and they will help a ton.

Thanks, Justin Also you should not use a single piece of thick foam tape all across the bottom, but rather two narrow strips with a space between them. This will give much better vibration isolation. And make sure the case does not touch the servos, you should eliminate that piece of tape there between the gyro and the servos. You of course have made sure the gyro is set for analog servo not digital. I can't quite "grok" why it would cause random pulses from the main motor unless it is causing the tail motor to draw way too much current. You might play with the travel limits, I think they are set in the gyro with this one? |

Oh, and BTW. I got my Blade back yesterday. I forgot how much fun it is to fly a smaller heli and got a little crazy, and have crashed twice so far.
1st time.... I was flyin it this mornin around in fast circles with less than half a battery left, and decided to do a flip (something Ive done several times before with the Blade) I also had the super-landing gear on. It faced straight up, stopped and dropped like a rock. I managed to get the Blade upright about 5 feet from the ground and it hit sideways on its skids. I didnt break anything because of 6 inches of snow, except for a little nick in the middle of the blade. 2nd time..... About 30 mins ago I was flyin outside in the dark underneath the yardlight, was doin some circles and about the third time around I was headed towards the BB hoop. I yanked back and cut throttle (I probably could have saved it though) it landed in the snow and only ruffled the covering on one of the Blades from hitting the blade-grips. Im gonna have to hook up a Brushless motor and DD tail and gyro so I really can have some fun. When I do all of this, Ill have to put a vid on youtube. Alex |

You're having to much fun.. You are a certified nut, just like me. I just did the brushless motor, WOW, simply, in a word, COOL Much, much more power. Take some pics and post. Also you should not use a single piece of thick foam tape all across the bottom, but rather two narrow strips with a space between them. This will give much better vibration isolation.
