I broke my forth blade grip in a week yesterday.
Golly, you must be flying hard. I'm still on my first set, and I crash as much as anybody. How tight are your blades in the grips?
Great deal on the gyro, at that price who cares if the BCPP can't keep up with it, it will still look better than a G90 or rce500x.

I'm a believer in the designed-in progressive failure modes.
If you get stronger blade grips, the energy of impact will simply be transferred to something else.
I'd recommend staying with stock until you are off "Jellyson's Learning Curve".

These do look nice though...

RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO

The landing was not that hard but the blade grips might be a little tight, they did not move when it smashed so thats probably it. Also I am useing the plasti Blades so that might also make a difference.

Also do the belt kits usually go for around $55? Kinda sounds like a lot, but then everything els is too.

Thanks
Justin

I watched some of the videos and it looks like it will cost A LOT for a conversion. Seems almost cheaper to buy a T-Rex.
Am I missing something or is it just that much?

Thanks,
Justin

Sorry for three multible posts but I just got a BRAND NEW DX6 for $150 on Ebay!!!!

Jellyson 12-22-2006 08:12 PM

RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO

You Dog! that's a steal.
Yeah, I think the complete conversion kit is like 200 not including the brushless:
http://www.helidirect.com/product_in...oducts_id=1637

But it is like a whole new heli, with a little more you can build up a stocker out of the spares and have an extra heli.

And sure it is as expensive as a TRex nearly. But you will still be able to fly it indoors in poor weather or at night.

This things flies great!

Flying at 388 grams with TP 1320, 368 w/ stock 800! :)

That looks really sharp. Mine haven't arrived yet, looks like after xmas at this point [&o]
I especially like the yellow tape (?) stripes on the boom...
Now you need the CF main blades!

RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO

Seems like I need a xmas present tomorrow! :)

I will have to swing by the LHS and hook my self up w/ a set of CF blades!

Maybe the hs55's too!

I should be done after that considering the cnc head wasn't such a good upgrade (weight, money, etc...).

Think I'll get a TREX SE soon as well!

I met an old timer at the LHS yesterday, and these guys meet at the city rec. center Thurs. afternoons where they fly balsa/tissue, scale, rubber band motor, free fliers!
Sounds really cool!
They have met there for 25 yrs...

After a couple hours, indoor heli time (young guys of course).. Two miles from the house, and it is two bb courts, 30 ft. ceiling w/ no rafters... Heated/cooled and FREE! :)

Can't wait til Thurs....

That hover craft is cool! [8D]

Jellyson

So, you still flying without the cnc head? What was your final word on that?

What is your flying weight and with what head and battery? Just curious...

RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO

I like the MH head. It is cool and smooth. The vibration going thru zero pitch in idle-up is from the servo slop and is hard to produce, you have to get it just right, most of the time there's no vibration and when I put the 55s in I'm sure it will be completely gone.
I haven't crashed it (yet) so I can't speak about the durability, but it looks like the feathering spindle is compatible with the stock one, so I'm not stuck with MH spares.
The damping is tighter than the stock, no shims, and the step washers are different, aluminum, not confidence inspiring, but they are working. I'm going to try replacing them with the EFlite ones.
The swashplate seems a little rough in the main bearing, but the Delrin insert is cool looking.
The setscrews are holding so far.

All-up weight is 408 grams, that's with a 1320 mAh battery, the TRex canopy, but not including the superskids which haven't arrived yet.

The other day I needed to check something, half asleep, grabbed a battery, hooked it up and took off, flying around it seemed a bit sluggish, but still had plenty of power. (Limited to 70 percent of max, remember!)
Then I realized I had put the 2250 mAh battery from the MX400Pro in the BCPP.
That put it at 489 grams.

RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO

Oh you want a comparison of the weights of the heads, stock and MH. I'll check and get back to you, I can't remember right now, might be tomorrow before I can get to it, but it is important info, thanks for reminding me.
Above weights are with the MH head.

After the skids today, I increased right about 20 grams!

The wide and aggressive stance of the skids look killer in nose in, eye level hover!

You'll be flying a fat boy! WOW!

Uh, I think you now have a 400 size heli, right? :)

Super Skids install TIP!

Cut the CF rods to remove the STOCK battery tray and use it on the new CF rods, not the two little battery braces that come in the SS kit!

Works much better and I have more Velcro to hold bigger battery!

Hey, Robmoney. Where did ya get those Blades, are they the EFlite blades? And how did you make the yellow tips on the flybar paddles.

RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO

Got the new glade gips and main shaft (the hole was too big) and I decided to use a paper clip instead of the stock pin and loosen my blade grips a little and see if my grips still break as often.

I have to wait till X-Mas for the parts though because my dad bought them :D

Can't wait till my DX6 comes.

RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO

yahh Justin good job
the manual says the blades should be loose enough to swing with "moderate pressure." Whatever that means. My idea of moderate pressure, as a micromachinist, might be different from, say, that of an M1A1 Abrams main batttle tank commander.

They should be just barely tight enough not to swing out of place when you hold the heli sideways and gently shake it.

This is actually part of the helicopter's aerodynamics--called "lead-lag" or something like that. The blades will move a bit as the helicopter flies to adjust for various things like lift and weight imbalances.

I pull firmly on the tips of both blades before starting up, this aligns them roughly, and as the head spins up they find their correct positions automatically, then they stay there. There might be a slight vibration as the head comes up to speed but it should go right away and the head should be smooth by the time you are at 1/3 throttle anyway.

RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO

Hey Guys, I'm new (sorta) to this electric heli stuff, My E-Flight CP Pro is under the tree so I gotta wait a couple of days. A little background on me - I am an old nitro breather from way back but planes only except for a JR Ergo 46 I bought from a deceased club members estate, I learned on g2 sim But haven't flown it but a couple of times in the back yard just to test it out after set up Barely hovered .
I put it up when we had a guy killed training with one down here in Houston. Wanted to try it over again and found my new Heli at the local hobby Shop so I have a couple of Questions , lipo batteries in the cp pro, how do you tell when you need to recharge? I understand that you can damage them by over discharging them. 2 What kind of transmitter is e-flite using or comparable to?, I want to set it up for fms simulator but need to know how to build the patch cord. (like a dummy I sold my g2 flight sim to a buddy at work getting into the hobby cause I thought I knew it all;) Now Im gonna try fms ,because it is a free download, and the steps in RaddsSchool Of Rotary Flight http://www.dream-models.com/eco/index.html. Any Suggestions on battery care ?
