RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
Low Voltage Warning system!
I put one of these on my TREX SE when I built it last weekend and it is COOLER than a fan! [8D] Will pick up an extra for the cp pro. You adjust the voltage threshold and UNDER LOAD when the battery reaches that threshold the super bright led begins to flicker and then stay on to let you know that your under threshold. Never wonder about the battery and it is EXACT. Timers aren't linked to the actual voltage of the battery........ Here is the unit. P.S. I remote mounted the led so in tail in hover it is blindingly obvious when the warning led comes on. It costs 25 bux! :) Electrotek R/C LXS 21 You can pick what color the led is by the part number.... and you pick the pack voltage which needs to be 11.1v for the pro! Enjoy! Rob |
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
Can you give us a link for the voltage warning?

RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
Hi! All
Just had my first attempt at hovering. My garage is not big enough. Managed to get heli off the ground and the stock gyro did a half decent job. The problem was that the copter would not even begin to hover and would start circling further and further away from me. Not sure if I was high enough or if I was just kept over compensating. Good news was that there was no damage and the only problem was that I kept hitting the tail and the tail blade woould push away from the drive gear. Is it possible that my copter is not set-up good enough or is what i described typical? Doug |
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
Sounds like you don't have the gyro and tail proportion setup right, but don't get me wrong. Flying a heli is hard work. Its like balancing two balls on top of eachother. Read the instruction manual that describes how to setup the tail proportion and gyro mixing and you should have an easier time. A garage should be plenty of room to learn to hover. Try to hover in as small an area over ground as possible. I have gotten to the point where I can almost keep it within a few inches of where i put it. :)
You'll get there. Check out Radd's school of Rotary Flight or practice on the sim. |
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
One other thing, to compensate for the tail rotor moving the heli to the left, you'll have to keep a little bit of right bank in there. Essentially the sticks should alwlays be moving. Heli's don't hover themselves.

Link to lipo warning unit... It's cool and saves those batteries... Rob |
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
Yea, Doug,
I have to ditto what zope said...also the stock tx requires that you give the smallest little inputs.... here is a link to radd's : http://www.dream-models.com/eco/flying-index.html follow it. it will train your thumbs and get you off the gruond. And you'll get up without totally trashing your heli. Be patient, it takes some time to get your first hover and get your trims dialed in. Noah |
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
Guys,
I just brought home a new blade cp pro. Nice heli! I've had a few nitro helis and feel pretty comfortable with helis. I tried another brand of micro heli and it was a mess. very jerky and hard to fly. The blade is so smooth! I found the tail responds much like larger helis I've flown which was a suprise compared to my other micro. I guess these tail motors actually can do the job! Of course, this is just hovering in my basement, so I wo'nt know how the tail performs in forward flight until I can get to a larger space. But for now, I'm very pleased. Time to call Horizon and get some upgrades! |
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
Congrats on your pro aerodave. I think if you are an experianced pilot you will find that the direct drive tail will perform nicely over the stock one and I love my hh gyro (went with the telebee one. was half the price of the eflite g90). This thread is littered with info on the DD tail and several other mods.
good luck with your new pro and enjoy....thats what its all about having fun. Noah |
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
Thanks Noah! I just did an extended hover session in the basement. A couple of feet off the ground, rocking the cyclic each way and getting used to the tail rotation. It actually reminds me of a Raptor, the way it just settlesinto a hover. So I just hovered around and drifted each direction until I'd had enough. Then smoothy landed and unplugged the battery. THIS is how its supposed to work!
I'm ordering the brushless setup, plus an extra Lipo and the yellow canopy and carbon blades. I'll bet I'll also want the HH gyro. I've never heard of the one you mentioned, but the recommended one is pretty expensive. My 401 was only 40 bucks more. I just cant get over how non twitchy this heli is. I mean its small, but its a real heli! A guy could have a great time with this thing! Even the lipocharger they included works well. I'm taking it to the local field house tomorrow to get into some FFF, maybe a few stall turns. I'll try to resist the urge to flip it, but it flies so nice I know I'm gonna be tempted! |
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
AeroDave,
Welcome to the Blade CP Pro world, it's a great electric heli for the $$$. The brushless setup is a major improvement, well worth the extra bucks. The nice thing about the electrics is that you can fly them anywhere. Pick up the heli, TX and a pocket full of batteries and you're good to go. Let us know how it goes at the local field house. Don't flip it yet, unless you are sure. Take care, Dave / Choppersrule ORIGINAL: AeroDave Thanks Noah! I just did an extended hover session in the basement. RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
ha ha! you're right, of course. I'm completely comfortable doing flips in all directions, but this little bugger is different, so I'll be patient. *sigh* I should at least wait until my brushless stuff gets here. I was just hovering again, pumping the collective in normal mode, checking the tail response. It really swings, but I couldnt see how far because I was getting close to the ceiling. The manual said more tail control is available with a lower gyro setting, so I'll just live with the torque induced yaw. I'm not totally sold on the HH idea yet, because I've read so much about tail rotor motors failing. We'll see.

RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
Aerodave,
Yea I like the yellow canopy much better. This thing is so small its hard enough to see at a distance it doesnt need a dark color canopy. Also check out this vid: http://www.raymondstacy.com/pics/bladecp122906.wmv This kid is flying bl motor, DD tail setup and a g90 gyro. I dont know how much of the tail performance is the piloting but I know that mine (with stock motor) from hover in normal mode has little yaw when I stab it to full throttle and the HH gyro brings it back a little too. The telebee gyro I mentioned is here: http://www.helidirect.com/index.php?cPath=46 I found mine on ebay for $45 & $5. I bought the 11g one looks like the same thing as the align one and the g90 (just has no digital servo setting, which doesnt matter on the bcpp). the g90 weighs 9g so its a little lighter, but they have a 6g submicro telebee on that site also. I definatly like my HH. And as far as the tail motors failing I have heard some folks say that they have a ton of hours on the GWS tail motor with a HH and no troubles. Mine probably has 15 hours or so on it & I just threw it in with no break-in, and I hope it goes a lot longer. Either way Happy flyin' Noah |
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
Oh and I'll bet ya pinks on our blades that you wind up flippin it at the field....lol I know i wouldnt be able to resist if I was capable.
|
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
that's too funny! So how do they accomplish a DD tail on this little thing?
|
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
GWS makes a little bigger motor that bolts right on and then you mount a prop right to the motor and go:D
There are real good directions to a pretty standard DD setup here: http://www.bladecprepair.com./man_tr_dd_conversion.html I followed this one to the tee, the only thing I dont like is the new tail fin/motor mount it is real weak and flimsy. I found a tail motor mount (with no fin) made by GWS (for their micro heli) that is very stout somewhere else online. I would post a link but I dont remember where I ordered it, just search around or use your stock blade tail motor mount. The one already on your bird just needs the screw holes enlarged a tiny bit to fit the new motor. |
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
Can anyone comment on the performance of a HH gyro with the stock tail motor versus the DD motor? I am definitely considering this mod as I am not 100% pleased with the tail authority and the HH gyro doesn't seem like its living up to its full potential. Thanks!
|
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
Huge difference... No question...
I run the Zoom/Telebee HH and had dual tail motors and had the same result as you did. DD is the way to go. The GWS EDP50H or CN12-RXC (same motor) is awesome with the 4530 GWS prop. Here is a page with the parts. http://www.heli-fever.com/index.php?cPath=6 Rob |
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
zope_pope,
I use the EDP50H or CN12-RXC motor with the EP3020 prop mounted directly on the shaft and it works great. orlbuzz |
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
I went to my LHS last night. Got a new fly bar, main hub, spindle, o rings, and main shaft & gear. I asked my LHS if they had the stronger main shaft but they did not. The guy said they might start getting them. :D
Well I hope it will fly nice... Thanks guy, Justin |
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
Commander Bob,
Are you still having problems with your little bird? I just bought the same parts because I noticed a small vibration in my main rotor after a minor ooops! Michael |
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
Hey guys,
Has anyone upgraded to the CNC all aluminum head and swashplate? http://www.cnchelicopter.com/servlet...0-Blade/Detail Michael |
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
not yet but I want to. I just got back from flying in a little raquetball court. Did a couple of piros and some easy forward flight. Not enough room for much else. It had a tall ceiling so it was fun to zoom up and drift down. So far its a nice heli.
|
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
just out of curiousity, has anyone tried a fut 401 on this thing? Sorry if this is an old subject, I just got involved in the thread. I have one laying around and its a really nice gyro, though I expect heavier than the G90. Still, its paid for and works well.
|
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
OK, Now that I have installed the new main shaft, the rotor turns true again. $5.99 and I'm up and hovering again with the plastic blades! WooHoo!!:D
