RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO

Rob,
I got the corbon GWS prop and adaptor. Is that the one you're asking about? It had a different manufacturer # than was posted in the directions mentioned a few posts ago, but I'm sure its the right one for the mod. The mod instructions didn't mantion the TR blade being carbon, so I though it might be the one you mean. It will be here in a couple of days, so we'll see.

RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO

No, the GWS EP4040 orange prop is the one I speak of....

Anyone tried it yet... I am running the 4530 now.....

RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO

I am using the square orange one that comes with the motor and it works fine. The motor does not seem too hot but I have not run it very long (heli problems).

I am using DD and the tail sill wags. Would lowering the servo travel limit help, maybe increase it? I'll have to play with it.

Any advice on the servo travel limit on the gyro would be great,
Thanks,
Justin

Commander Bob,
Does your tail motor sound like a little bee buzzing on top of the sound of the main rotor?

I am using the little orange tail rotor that measures 3 1/4" long by 1/2" wide.

It works great.

I just purchased the brushless motor and 20amp BEC today.

RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO

I kinda feel like a dork for asking this question, and Im sure its been mentioned before, but where can I get the DD tail online?

(I just set up an order on helidirect.com and realized I own a nearly 500$ "Hyper Blade CPP 400". Kinda makes ya happy and wanna cry at the same time;))

All I need now is the DD tail[>:]

Thanks, Alex

RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO

once again...
here you go

ORIGINAL: Commander_Bob

Step by step for DD tail mod...

1) Buy [link=http://www.heli-fever.com/product_info.php?cPath=6&products_id=93]DD motor[/link]
and [link=http://www.heli-fever.com/product_info.php?cPath=6&products_id=195]Heat sink[/link] (two stock heat sinks work to)

2) The [link=http://www.heli-fever.com/product_info.php?cPath=6&products_id=192]Blade adapter[/link] and [link=http://www.heli-fever.com/product_info.php?cPath=6&products_id=191]Tail fin[/link] are optional.

Note: most LHS carry the GWS DD motor (mine had the motor but nothing else so I use two sock heat sinks)

3)Take the motor and connect it to two AA batteries (3V) and let it run for around 30 min. to break it in. (this step is important, if you do not do this your motor will burn out in a matter of min.)

4) If you are using the optional tail fin screw the motor in. If not (I am using stock mount) all you have to do is cut out the flat part where the motor goes in (on the side) and then you can use the stock holes, or you can make you own holes and not cut the side.

5) I am not using the blade adapter but if you do just follow the instructions with it. If you are not then use a vice to put the orange prop on.

6)The plug on the motor can be cut off and the wires soldered to the tail wires, or you can do like I did and use an extra tail or main motor wire and cut the female plug off and solder that to the other end (so the wire that plugs into the 3-in-1 has the same plug on both ends) This way you can unplug and plug in the motor w/o any soldering.

Note: STOCK MOUNT ONLY: If you use the stock mount so the motor faces the same way as the stock motor you will need to reverse the polarities when you solder them to the motor. Black to red, red to black.

7) Enjoy the power and response of your new DD motor.

Pm me if you have questions

~Justin

Commander_Bob
The links in your post don't work for me.
Is the DD motor EDP-50XC found on Heli-Fever web site the same motor GW/EDP-50H that is used for the upgrade from the Blade cp repair.com? Also does the blade that comes with the blade adapter work, it looks more agressive that the orange blades that come with the motor? Any difference?

Doug

RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO

The GWS CN12-RXC and the EDP50H are the same either one will work fine... I just picked up a new EDP50H and it has a bright shiny case and two cooling slots in the case... I guess they changed the casing for better cooling... I put it on immediately and it flies the same... Keeping the older one for backup... My old one has 40 flights and still running strong...

FYI, In putting on the newer motor, I also put on a new stock motor mount and reversed sides, so far NO flight differences...

RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO

Hello out there Just got a Blade cp pro. first heli I am trying tostart off slow but it is hard. I have had a few drops and bent a few things. but just got it put back together last night. my question is. Is it normal to adjust the gryo mix on each battery, or should this be something that when set you leave alone?

robmoney 01-16-2007 12:13 PM

RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO

Start with the gyro and propportional pots at 50%. Set the prop. to get the tail set stable and then turn the gyro up a very small notch at a time until with short rudder stabs it starts to wag. Then back off the gyro a slight bit and your done. Your batteries should not change tail drift at all. Understand the stock gyro is o.k. at best at holding the tail. This is a good thing learning to hover because it makes you learn how to fly the tail and keep it straight. The head hold gyro upgrade will give you a rock solid tail in 10 mph cross wind... Get to know that rudder stick. It is everything in forward flight. If you can't keep the tail you will crash a lot.

Hope this helps.

Rob

This is a GREAT help to all new pilots (like me) who need help trimming there helis. [link=http://www.lenlutz.com/pages/blade_tuning.html]http://www.lenlutz.com/pages/blade_tuning.html[/link] I am going to follow what they say and see how my heli turns out. :D

RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO

Well I gave it another try. with the gain turned up about 3/4, the tail was great. The landing was not .... bought new tail boom will install tomorrow. I think I will just take the whole thing down and check for more bent or broken parts. Thanks for the link I will print it out and keep it with the cp-pro.

has anyone tied the belt conversion for the pro from helihobby.com? whole thing is lots of $$$$$ but looks cool.

what is better the twin motors for the tail or the DD???? and why?

RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO

Just bought an CPP the other day....first heli and very tough. Lots of fun though---do you think the plastic blades are worth the buy? do you get the same flight with the plastic as you do with the stock blades and will it fit a cpp when they sell it for the cp? I figure they would since the only difference I believe is the battery life between the cp and cpp...I crashed mine pretty hard the other day and ripped off the landing gear...do you recommend a different landing gear and the trainer? or what about the simulator, is that a waste of $$$$$

mykul812 01-17-2007 09:13 AM

RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO

Gijima,
I too am a newby at heli flight. The plastic blades with the flat bottoms are great for learning and don't break as eaily as the balsa blades. They will break your tail boom if you get a blade strike on it. I know this pesonally.

Most if not all of the parts are exchangeable between the CP and the CPP.

If you search this thread for RADD's school of rotory flight. This is the best learning method and a simulator can only help. Crashing a simulator is a lot less expensive[8D]

RADD's allows you to learn without the use of training gear but that is a decision you will need to make.

RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO

Use the wood blades, your parts cost will be lower in the long run, changing the boom is a real , real pain!

Get some flat bottom woodies from Helidirect.com, their like 8 bux a set... The symms. they sell fly really good too. :)

RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO

I recommend the training gear as it helps you get it down on the ground quickly and safely if something isn't going your way. I'd like to see a comparison of people who have had major damage with and without the gear. I am betting more people without. knock on wood, but so far I haven't had to replace anything at all because of crashes. :) Airplane flying helps, but most of it is simulator practice and the 2 feet of snow outside. Hehe.

RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO

does anyone know if there is a way to test the 3-in-1 controller unit to see if it is working properly? can you use a mulit meter on it?

i bought a new 3-in-1, wired it up put a battery to it and saw it smoke ugh. i found that the tail motor wire had a short where it enters the tail boom from the main frame. Now i'm wondering if i fried the new 3-in-1 and if there is a way to test it.

thanks for your help.

mykul812 01-17-2007 08:15 PM

RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO

I agree Zope_pope, the training gear is a plus. I have yet to use them -although I have them. RADD's was why I did not use them.

I also am a veteran R/C airplane crash test pilot.

My boom got hit while setting her down a little hard and having backwards motion going on at the same time!

RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO

Can anyone explain the difference between the CP and the CP Pro. I know that the Pro has Lipo batt. What is the Bell Hiller and why is it better? Also when just trying to hover, where should the throttle trim be set, to half, full or all the way down. How will the Heli react in the different positions? Is there a easy way to get the ball links off?

RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO

Dougwill,

Differences
Blade Cp /Blade Cp Pro
----------------------- ----------------------------
*semi symmetrical blades /fully symmetrical blades
*heavy, weak Ni-mh batt /3s 800mah Li-po
*4-in-1 /3-in-1
*comes as sort of a trainer heli /Comes somewhat aerobatic ready
/Better Bang for your buck
/Brushless and gyro Plug-and-Play
/Bell Hiller for quicker, stronger and more precise response.

I quess that thats one way to put it^^^^^^

RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO

I just ordered half that stuff last night, But I have messed with the brushless motor and landing gear. The main things that will affect the flight dramatically are the gyro, brshlss mtr, CF blades, alum. swash, and DD tail. The rest of the stuff listed are for durability.

Youve seen a stock BCPP fly, now watch Nick Maxwell, a pro, fly a modded BCPP http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=580952

You can get all the HDX stuff and all sorts of other really great stuff cheap at www.helidirect.com

Have fun,
Alex
