Default Eflite speed 400 beep codes

Hey guys, I set up a Formosa for a friend. He wanted it identical to mine. It has an Eflite speed 400 motor, and a 11.1 volt lipo. It got away from him on the maiden flight, and destroyed the airframe. Radio checks out, but I'm getting nowhere with the motor. Instead of the initial beep when you first plug in the battery, followed by two beeps in succesion; I'm getting just a constant beep every second or two. I've tried every combonation of the three wires to no avail. This thing hit hard when it crashed, and am wondering if the motor is screwed? I should add that every time it beeps, the motor shaft turns slightly. I can't find anything on this motor's beep codes. Thanks for the help.

I'm assuming that the EFlite Speed 400 you're referring to is brushless. The motor doesn't beep, the ESC does. I think you ought to try it with another ESC. It could be damaged from the crash. Beep codes will be in the instructions for the ESC.

The beeps you should be hearing come from the motor windings as the pulses are sent from the ESC. It sounds like something is damaged perhaps in the ESC itself. You did not mention how it got away from your friend but it could also be a radio problem. Do the servos work? Check and make sure the throttle trim is set properly and the that the channel is set correctly for the ESC.

I swapped out the ESC with the one on mine, and the motor works fine. Thanks for the help guys. Looks like he'll be needing another ESC.
