Here is the custom charge case I have just about finished, it started off pretty simple but has now got to the point where i will need a bigger box if
I attempt to addanything else to it.

1 - Esprit models power strip
2 - USB power sockets
1 - 3.5 " PC fan controller with 2 temperature sensors attached to power supply & fan speed controls
2- 80mm LED cooling fans
1 - Iota 55 amp power supply
1 - internal power distrubution strip
1 - Sony DSXS 100 digital media player (for I phone).
2 or more speakers (yet to be fitted).
1 - plastic sheet with chrome handles.

Nice set up?
Question, if you are using an Iota 55 amp power supply, which I assume can be plugged into an AC outlet for charging, what purpose does it serve at the field provided there are no AC outlets?

My guess is that he is running a generator to power the supply at the field.

I have used that power strip before and it is really under sized for a charger pulling 20+ amps. If you are using it primarily for charging receiver packs etc, it's fine but look inside and the wiring and connections are pretty small gauge. I changed all the wiring in mine to larger gauge wires and it worked fine but still got a little hot at times.

Same here, I burnt one to the ground first time I tried to charge two 10 S packs at one time. Made my own box and works great! I use twin I3010 chargers and at 1 C Rate I am pulling 31 or 32 amps out of the Iota 55 power supply untill it goes to the constant voltage mode.

I am gettng away from the IOTA's. I am using the Icharger P350's at the field. One per Charger. More compact and easier to handle. More expnsive but not by a whole lot.

Platinum1,

I fly electric and most of the fields I travel to have 120 AC available. For the few that don't, I have a 1200W portable generator. I got mine on the "bay" for $180, shipped. I view it as cheap insurance against running my truck battery down - Did that once and that was enough. Theoretically, i don't need to recharge at the field. I have 4 sets of batteries, enough to get through all day on Saturday without recharging.

I'm building a "less bling intensive" box now. It has a 55 amp server power supply, a Turnigy 6 cell 4 port charger, and a Turnigy single port 6 cell charger for Tx and Rx batteries.

I am running this off a portable generator. I use a Kipor 1000 which is more or less the same spec as the Honda 1000i but not as compact or quiet !

A couple of the fields I use now have AC so even though I take the gen with me I dont use the thing that much.

The power strip is just for additional (small) chargersas I have read a few other comments likethe ones above on what they can handle. The 2 FMA chargers
are connected to a power strip on the insider of the case.

http://bluesea.com/category/9/35/productline/186is what I am using on the inside of the case. Over the top but it works.

Mine started off as a much less "bling intensive box" but went a bit! silly as it progressed :-)

Instead of the power supply, can't one charge off the car battery with the engine running?
Won't the car alternator kick in to recharge the battery if it gets low?

I am finishing up my charging box and I have a few fans that I have mounted in the side of the box for cooling. I was wondering how everyone is powering there fans. Are you using the power supply if so how are you hooking them up. Thanks in advanced for your responses.
