Joe that's atouch harsh isn't it? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder dude. This planes design brings on more comments and opinionsthan any plane I have everseen.I actually think the line thru the canopy breaks up the bulkiness of the canopy. The Spark is an aquired look. Most people I knowthink it's not attractive. I've seen enough of it to appreciate what it has to offer. In the air it looks pretty great except the profile of the wing tips which has a different look to it that I'm not quite used to but still that's pretty minor. The Spark's wing works and I can see more new designs doing the same thing. AJ's scheme is the best yet in my opinion. It looks right in the air too. I hope to fly one someday.
As far as it being a 4 year old design who cares. It's still inovative enough to be considered new and it's viable. Funny that an IMAC flyer I know told me that pattern requires too many design chamges and because of that was not appealing to him. He may have a point. Mike

Not being harsh. I've seen a few of these and it just dosen't look right to me. That's all<g> Maybe a different line somewhere else would just look better, that's all. Heck, I still can't stand the look of the Beryll's canopy on the one I am trying to sell.
I'm sure the plane flys well. The one I saw locally unfortunately in the hands of a Sportsman/Intermediate flyer did not look good. I think he was in over his head with the plane.

OK Joe that's cool. Yes I agree the Beryl had some real ugly going on with it's weird canopy. I have a Sickle and I think most would agree that it's got the look. I'm not sure about it in the air. I do know that the beautiful paint scheme is too hard to see in the air. I've found that to be true with most of the high end paint jobs on planes today. I prefer the straight lines with big contrasts like my Integral. That's why I like AJ's new scheme it looks great in the air and last I checked that's what really counts.
As far as not seeing the plane fly with a good pilot I've had just the opposite. I watch David Snow at thepractice fieldand now Andrew flying it and it's sensational. Mike

Hi Mike, My FATBOY Sickle looked really good winning FAI at our first contest in Alaska this season. I am also ordering a Spark with AZ color scheme which should really show up nice in the air. Reeves.

It is VERY robust, never seen a crack in the fuselage around this area. No holes to be drilled either.

I have glued a small piece of balsa in the corner where the ailerons starts, adopted this from the bigger planes where we use a robart hinge for preventing flutter. The small balsa piece are glued to the top skin and the wing rib, preventing the top skin to move.
Look carefully in the corner there's a small balsa block.
By the way, very niece plane, I do fly the 2009 version and it flies BETTER than the 2008 version, enjoy!!!

Got one of the new sparks up in the air last night. Flew very similar to the one I'm flying now. I have more pictures of the model but this one was taken with my iPhone.
Special thanks to Charlie Williams who assembled the planes for me.

I finally got to see a Spark in person yesterday. I have to say, this is a beautiful airplane. The maiden for this Spark is scheduled for a week from tomorrow. I am supposed to get a flight or two. My wallet finger is getting itchy....
