interesting how the canopy is moved back on the Onas. Is that the new trend coming back. Looks like a big eclipse or Partner...very nice looking plane, hope you enjoy it!

Thanks for all the kind comments. I'm finishing up a few things. Hope to fly it this weekend.
Just want to confirm that the Onas will be provided with all the formers and trays installed as in the pictures. CA Models is now completing all the installations prior to shipment. All you will need to install is the motor mounts.

Some more. Before anyone asks the rudder servo arm is homemade out of .060" G10 material. Rudder servo is a JR DS-8611, an older servo they no longer make. You can get an 8611A which is a little more power.

A couple more. The elevator servos are the new JR DS-378's. These are a thin, flat mount servo. I have been using 3421's but these are only a few oz/in less torque, are faster and are lighter. So far they seem to be working well.

The aileron servos are JR DS-8411's with plastic gears installed. BTW, the pushrods on the elevator and aileron linkage are made using a technique I picked up from Chip. The pushrod is .060" carbon rod and it is just glued to the end fittings using CA. You install the control horn, tape the control surface in neutral, get the servo installed and the center set. Then put on the end fittings, cut a piece of rod to fit, install it and glue. At first I worried about not being able to adjust the linkage, but if you do it correctly you never need that adjustment. These are light and simple.

Now for the flying. When I put the model together I just took a guess at the incidence and balance. So I had to make some changes each flight to get things better. I still need to move the CG back and I will do that for tomorrow. So it's still pulling to the canopy slightly in a vertical upline. But if anyone was worried about how swept wings snap, don't! The model snaps beautifully. Stall turns are great, still working on the throws for the spins. It did take a little mixing, but very minimal amounts. I really like the looks in the air! Shows up well and tracks nicely. I think it will be excellent!

I still don't have a good scale. Mike Greear brought one out that said the model with a 5000 pack was 9.2 pounds. Somehow I don't think that was correct! I'm looking at getting a good scale soon.

That looks right to me. It's funny but some planes don't look right in the air. I could never get used to the Pinnacle in the air and I have a friend who shared that same opinion.
I got mine in today. The fuse is huge. It's seemingly really well done. I have to get it home and uncrate the whole thing. The crate is beautiful. I'll get some pics posted tonight. Mine is the ARC version. Mike

A question for anyone who really knows ..... On two meter electrics, what are you using for Rx/servo power a BEC ???
I can't believe you'd take the weight penalty for a separate pack.
However, if it is a BEC device then a failure would = a guaranteed crash.
That is why I ask the question.

People typically use a 480-900 or so mAh Lipo with regulator. The battery size depends on personal preference, as well as if the airplane will be close to weight or not. There is little to no vibration, so you're not using too many mAh per flight, around 50. I think I'm using around 125 per flight for a YS 1.70 powered model, and was using 225 per flight with the CDI.
I will likely use dual 480 Lipos with Tech Aero regulators, as I've had good luck with them.
You couldn't pay me to use a BEC on a 2 meter airplane. Not only would I hate to lose the airplane for monitary reasons, but that would be pretty dangerous if something that size with large Lipos for the motor went in somwhere populated.
