The jerks @ Traxxas will not say what oil content they have. I sent them a letter back a few months ago asking about oil content. and They just jerked me around .never would say how much oil is in there mix. I tried to explain what I was doing with it but the guy just wouldn't listen just kept saying it wouldn't work for airplanes.........

Boy...that 33 % nitro fuel must be expensive. You can always cut it down to correct nito content. But them would have to adujust the oil content! Capt,n
10% is like $5 - $8 and the 33% was around $12.... nearly double.

All my searches just told me that Top Fuel is high in oil content. That means high for car fuel so who knows really.... should make a good bonfire starter

Well my hobby shop said they thought it was 12%. I did get in to run mixed with gas, so it doesn't have tooo much oil
but now I run cool power Large ST glow fuel 10%. Its much better I believe.

Do you guys think that if I increase the exhaust timing on my ryobi from 145 degrees to 150 i won't have any problems?????? and what about transfer ports??? how can I icrease the timing????

You could take it to 155 degrees I would recommend. I run 160 or more on most of my other engines, but I rev them higher than the Ryobi is safe to go. It's good to raise the transfers about the same amount you raise the exhaust, but it's a little tough to do without a mill. A small mill bit in a dremel or die grinder will do it, but it sure takes a steady and sure hand... Try to maintain whatever angle, both upwards and sideways that the transfers have originally.

Take a bad cylinder and pratice porting it first. Then you will get the idea of what works best when re-shaping ports. Capt,n

Hi All
Since this thread has become very very long (over 1100 posts), could someone who has been following it all the way through be so kind to summarize very breifly what is the best fuel mix (with ingredients) with constant power to glow plug, and without. Has it been unanimously found reliable and easy to use.
Thanks
sid

1100 posts is long? It only took me 3 days to read

Oh, and the mix is one part 10/10 glo fuel and 2 parts HI-TEST gasoline.

Yep.

Oh, and a good quality four stroke glow plug, no glow heat (battery) after starting.

A friend of mine is a small engine mechanic.
He was amazed at how well these engines run on Gas/Glow.

He gave me a 32cc Mac that he had taken the electronic ignition off
because it did not run consistant.
On Gas/Glow it runs PERFECT, and with non-powered glow after starting.

I must be brain dead but the mix is 1 part 10/10 glo fuel 2 parts gas. What does 10/10 glo fuel mean?

Yes, no glow power necessary after starting.

Mix is ONE part 10% oil & 10% Nitro glow fuel to TWO parts high test gasoline. The 10% oil, 10% Nitro glow fuel is made by all the major manufacturers and is often called "Glow Fuel for Large Super Tiger Engines". Sometimes the hobby shops don't carry it, but they can order it in for you. After lots of experimentation in various engines by a lot of us here, this is what works.

Have fun,

Well guys had to rebuild my 25 homie engine, went to start it and had all kinds of problems getting it to start.Found out the ring broke then the piston and head took the worse,But the good thing is the 30cc homie I got at a garage sale brand new older style for $20. got a new home.took a chain saw carb put a diophram in it and she runs just needs minor tweeking.one more thing I did that dosnt work for very long is cut the mag down {like a spacer} for the glow/gas started to crack. That dosnt really matter for me to find out I need more weight in the nose anyway.so another mag with the fins trimed will do fine.I was proud of this find wanted a 30cc homie for awile to tinker with.

This has been a very informative thread and a lot of time has been spent by all in achieving a great goal and that is to fly at a reasonable price at much less weight, I have a G45I Chinese engine that goes for a good price and have made an adapter and converted to glow running on standard methanol ,klotz and a tad of nitro. My question is I have methanol, nitro, and various octanes of fuel available but non of the mixes mentioned in the threads so how would you mix up a gallon to try remembering I will convert the figures to metric. to arrive at the mixes that have worked so well for you guys out there. I forgot to mention this engine is a 36cc and has a walbro carb attached.

Probably neglected to show just how to mix a gallon of this fuel. Don't want to cloud the issue on your using metric figures to mix a US fluid gallon, so let's just use percentages mix rates , by volume, they will work for any volume you wish to brew. Gasoline 66.66%; Methanol 26.66 %; Lube oil 3.333%; 3.33% Nitromethane. Klotz states their oil will mix with both gasoline and methanol so it should word just fine.
Good luck.

Has any one put 2 glow plugs in to get more advance in the timing?

If so how well did it work?

Guys I've looked and looked.
And I know a lot of you followed the Toro thread awhile back.

Where the heck is that thing?

Thanks

Two glow plugs. This was common many years ago. A good idea to try. I'm making bolt on heads for the Tanaka. That'll be another neat idea to play with. I'll try and report on any results. Won't happen till the spring though.

Thanks for the idea.

Try page 5 in engine conversion. Look for "who is converting toro trimmers."
