Convert WT-324 to WT-499

Anyone attempted this? I have been doing research on using glow fuel with a wt-324 and it will run but not good enough to put it in a plane. I'm a cheap SOB and don't want to spend the $50 for a WT-499. I looked up all the part numbers of the WT-499 and WT-324 and they are both 11.11 Venturi carb bodies and share almost all parts other than the inlet needle/valve, high and low needles, pump cover and one of the welch plugs(high one I think). The fact that one is choke model and the other is not is not inportant. No cross reference on the inlet needle seat on the 499 to compare but the 324's could easily be enlarged. All over the web the WT-499 is the go-to carb when it comes to running Methanol fuels so I'm wondering if the actual bodies of the carbs are different. I couldn't find part numbers which leads me to believe that all the 11.11MM Walbro carbs use the same body just different jetting and covers and pumps/regulators.
If they are the same, is it far reaching to suggest installing the inlet needle and high and low speed from a 499 into a 324 and you have converted it for glow use with the same reliability as a stock WT-499? The reason I bring this up is the price of the Wt-499 is steady at around $40-50 due to allot of pocket bike guys are using it to hop up their bikes and run methanol. I could get the 499 replacement needles for under $10 shipped. The wt-324 is almost there but just needs to flow a little more fuel so I can tighten those needles up. They are turned way out to get the 33cc Poulan I'm running to idle reliably and transistion to power well. I will be picking up some Methanol to dilute the 5% cool power I have down to about 5-7% oil content and maybe that will fix my problem. I think the 499 needles would also do the trick. Any suggestions?

You need to replace the inlet needle and the diaphragms. red tipped viton inlet needle and brown colored fiberglass diaphragms.
Methanol requires an A/F ratio of 6.4:1 or 2.25 times more than gas.
The internal passages may be larger on the alky carb.

Got it running last night. I removed the brass plug/rubber valve on the regulator side that exposes the needle passages and increased the inlet needle opening duration by bending up the arm slightly. I also gutted the stock muffler and she runs like a top all the way up to 7800 with an APC-18-10. Idles at 2100 steady and transitions perfect. Yeah, it will need a rebuild every season or find the more durable diaphrams and she gulps about an ounce per minute at full throttle. Going to try a 20-8 next with some low oil methanol.
