Flip Flop, looks good!! You're going to beat me to it!! I'll post a pic of my version sometime in the next few days.....thanks to everyone for the assistance!! I ending up attaching an aluminum spacer to the side of the block w/ a bellcrank and the use of an old trike steering arm to make something that really works smoothly...who needs a rotation kit for the carb??? By the way, how much did you pay for the upgraded carb on that one??? Where are the best deals for them??
Also, Ken Lambert's site is much improved!! I'll be ordering a muffler for this thing in the next few days.....just want to fire it up first and see how she runs!!

Well, I finally dragged the digital out....here is the mb290 awaiting a new lightweight muffler from Ken Lambert.....she needs a diet!!! but damn, does it look so much cooler than a .60 on this senior telemaster!!

Hey Flip Flop..........I see that Horizon still sells the pipe and header set.....I'll be making a canister muffler to keep her good and quiet....are there any other header options you're aware of?? Will something from another engine type work with this Mac??? You seem to be the test guru of this engine...thanks for the help and I'll be sure to post exhaust pics.......thanks!!

jweger77: I got a MB290 in a blower. They are nice running engines. I had it on a test stand for a while. Be carefull not to break any parts....they are imposssible to get. I got a new blower so if your engine does good on your plane...I am going to put mine on a plane. Capt,n

The Horizon header and pipe are whisper quiet, quieter than the stock muffler. It's a muffled tuned pipe. Steel header (which is what you want on a gasser) and lightweight aluminum pipe. If you can daal with the length of the setup on your plane, this is the one to get. I'd recommend it for any of the small weedie conversions and just do whatever you have to do to make the header fit your motor. No tuning required, it's all plug and play. But if you want to try something else, Macs Products makes some aluminum headers for the G-23 and one for the Homelite 25.

Thanks for the info! I will have to check those out a bit more.....my dad and I will be making some canister mufflers that will go in th e fuse...I just need a header.....he's making one for a G62....we're gonna do some experimentation and see what we can come up with.....I like a tuned pipe..but I must say it will look ridiculous on the side of a senior telemaster....anyways, if we come up with something good; I'll be sure to share it with everyone!!

Which header and pipe does horrizon carry? I did not see any for gassers except EVO. I have a couple of echo 2400 short blocks on the way and will be needing to round up parts to complete them. Do you know if any of the zenoah parts will fit echo?

Well I have good news, and bad news! First of all I flew my big profile yak today on my db290, the motor is great, reliable, no shake, flew it nicely, I did build the plane a little heavy. I went very similar to a omp yak 65. I still build light for old school, but a little heavy as 3d planes go.. I made the wing a constant chord from the root out and I think I have around 1300 -1360 sq. inchs of wing. And I have no exact weight measurement but it was around 11 pounds. It won't hover but flies really nice.
Now the bad news ......after checking the battery I made my fourth flight, battery was fine, flew about 3 minutes and it seems that the switch went bad, or shut off .....My equipment is fm, and I have had no real issues with failure of any of it. it just sort of flew level nose down at a 30 degree angle into a dried up corn field...The fuse isn't bad, a crack right below where the windshield starts. but the wing was blown apart, wingtube bent...one aileron good, one fixable..rudder servo stripped...
anyhow.. so after all the work to build it.. its back to the shop. When I built this plane I built two of them, my buddy gave me his framed up wings back so It could be worse I guess.
This was my first equipment failure, I sure wish it had happened on an older less exciting plane! ha ha

tore into the electronics, the positive wire was very poorly soldered to the battery and had come off under the shrink wrap
looked like it was barely connected to start with. And the way my battery pack was mounted there is no way it tore loose in the crash, anyhow the mb290 motor seems ok, not sure why I called it a

MB290 Update. I have many many hours on my Mb290 now. I had to slot the carb screws some time ago. This engine is stll running very good. It,s top RPM,s has increased a lot too. The thing screams. If it was not such a light weight powerfull leaf blower....I would have the engine in an airplane. The 2nd one I bought the recoil and the throttle arm broke, right away. I took it back and the only thing they would do is replace it with a new in-box 30cc Homelite blower. The Hommie is smooth...but it does not blow leaves/air as good as the Mac! I may have to modify the 30cc and put it in a airplane. HA! Has anyone besides... foodstick...got a Mb290 in the air? Thanks Capt,n

I bought one of these this week from John Mohrbacker in Arizona. It is just the 25cc power head from the blowers. The engine looks very good after I stripped off all the plastic, I havent started trimming the shroud yet.It looks like a toro clone. He says he has over one hundred of them on hand if anyone is interested. His e-mail is [email protected]. if anyone wants to contact him.

I have several pictures but have not been able to attach them to this post. I paid under 20.00 + shipping for one to check it out. It was a very good looking engine after I removed all the plastic, muff, carb, starter and etc. Now I will start cutting away the shroud and excess wieght. He will combine shipping with multiple items. That would depend on your area code.
