Hi, I have a 25cc motor that I think is like the one your talking about. Mine is a Poluan from a weedwacker. Do you have a picture of the mufflers you could send me?
How much are they if I think they will work?

Hi captinjohn.
Idownloaded the Picasa2 and try to import some pics to this post. I still haven't had enough practice, as you can see I duplicated some of the pics. The model # is9017-MD0110 S/N 411B0900668 made in Taiwan. The fins on the back of the cylinder have been trimmed from the factory. Not like the first ones I saw here like on RCU.

Looks like you got the process down for sure!! You can right click on about any photo online and place it in Picasa. Then you can crop or resize the photo and lots of other neat things. You can click email at bottom and send the photo to a friend...via email. Its neat to send some things to your own email address to view more later and then just delete. Very nice program. Take Care, Capt,n
P.S. You might want to EDIT your last post and add the name and model number of your engine!

The engine came fully cowled with The tank, carb, muffler, pull starter and ready to install the blower section to the power head. The lable on the engine has no brand name, But it has M25 25cc and a serial #. That is about all the info. I have on it. All thr castings are clean and brite, it turns over smothly and has good compression and spark.

Oldtimer, I sent John Mohrbacker an E-Mail late fri. but have not gotten a reply as of yet. I would like to get two of these if the price is right. Any idea as to what kind of prop hub you will use on your engine? Tkanks Gryohead

Hi Captinjohn,
I checked for end play with my vernier calipers and measured .003. I don't think that is excessive. I may be wrong. I Don't have access to the specs on these engines.

Looking over the engine, it appers that it would take a simple one piece prop hub to bolt to the flywheel like a Zenoah 38. If I do convert it, I will use the magneto ign. to see how it runs out.

oldtimer: The .003 end play sounds ok/good. My Mb290 has a lot more....but I put the engine back in my leaf blower and ran the puddin out of it. It really screams now after several hours on it. Sometimes wide open for 10 or more min. It starts a little harder now, but not bad. When I had it on a test stand with prop on it, I could start it with 1 flip 15 times in a row. I may check end play...to see how that is now. Compression is still real good. You would have to do hundreds of flights to match time I have on that blower. I even use it to blow snow off my deck in winter. Regadds Capt,n[:-]

I looked at engine ..item #160058487646... it lools to be a Mac Mb290. This same exact engine is also sold under Yardman. I could never get parts for My Mb290. But I think the Yadman web site you can get parts. Not sure. They seem to be a nice engie. Flipflop...I do not hammer on my engines. I have taken many flywheels off...ect and not had to hammer on any. I checked the end-play on the one I had BEFORE I took anything apart on it. Capt,n

Ok, just had to ask. Has anyone noticed that the motor that Oldtimer has pictured is different than the one that I did? The fins on the rear of the cylinder on mine extended well past the lower crankcase until I cut them down. Could be a minor production change, could be a whole new cylinder. Who knows.

Oldtimers engine is the same one like I bought on Ebay, see the Post "What did I Buy?" on the engine conversion Forum. It looks like the MB290 except the fins are different. It has been determined to be made in Taiwan for McCulluch. It looks exactly like a G23 L17 Industrial (trimmer or blower) engine to me.I got mine finished and it turns a 16X8 prop 8000 rpm, without any fancy mods, just straightforward conversion with an 11mm bore carb. I'm glad oldtimer posted the pictures of his engine before he converted it, I was too impatient.

Now if you want a lighter engine....run it on GAS/Glow fuel. Read about that type of conversion....just type it into the search feature at top of page. Capt,n

Hi captain,
Been following this 25cc engine thread for some time. Mine came from John on E---- for $26.00. Ran it yesterday with one of Ken Lamberts mufflers and pulled 8,195 rpm on a zinger 16 x 6 prop. Turned 7,800 with the stock muffler, same prop. I dismantled this engine and measured and it measures 23.52 cc. or 1.435 cu.in. Not bad performance figures for a new engine of this size. It hand starts easily and idles at an incredible 1,300-1,400 rpm. Never had a two-cycle engine that would idle reliably at that low of an rpm before. Very little vibration at anything above idle. I replaced the carb that came on the engine as it had only low speed adjustment. No other changes except the carb and the muffler. Hope to be getting near 8,200 rpm with a 16 x 8 once the rings have seated.
Not a bad investment for $26.00. Thanks, Terry

TCBenson: Yes the Mb290 does start very good and has a good idle. Boy you got a good price on yours. I put mine back in the blower and use it a lot. I blow the snow off my truck and wifes car and the wooden deck. The engine is fully broken in now and screams! The bearings from new had more end play than normal...but they are easy to replace. TCBenson,
Thanks for updating us on your progress. I haven't finished converting mine yet. I've got the Lambert muffler, a larger carb (stock was 7.9mm with one needle), and will be running it on gas / glow.
I've gotten distracted by the possibility of modifying the porting. I'll post more info as I progress.
I think these have a place in the 120 sized airplane range.
I got mine from John Mohrbacker ([email protected]) who was super nice to do business with.

Hi captjohn,
I have searched the web looking for some one that sold the alum. extrusion that looks like that so I could order some of it to try to make some mufflers. No luck yet but if I do find some I will let you know. Where did you find the picture of the parts?
Later George
