Default Homelite 30cc Problem how to fix?

I got a 30cc Homie engie out of a Blower, did the conversion, and now it seems it does not pull/push air. The carb would not draw fuel, so I took the intake manifold off, stuck a piece of paper over the inlet hole and spun the engine over with an electric starter. The paper did not move in nor out. Took the muffler off and tried again. My electric starter can turn the thing over pretty damn quick, and it seems the air is not moving in this engine. It has excellent compression, low hours, piston, cylinder look great. Any ideas?? Thanks

Is it a reed valve engine? If so your reeds aren't seating. If not you likely have a severe crankcase leak somewhere. Check the crankshaft seals, if it has them. Crankcase gasket? In take manifold leak? I doubt it because the intake maifold is probably cast into the crankcase.

this website is for trimmers but you might find your engine here:

I took the intake manifold off, just put a piece of paper over the block, It could be a crankcase leak, but like you say, it would have to be severe, a gasket or seal leak would give a crummy idle, but the engine would at least suck air in to some extent. It not a reed engine. Hmmmmm,,,,,,

Is the conecting rod broken if so the piston might not be moveing so it wouldent suck any air. Turn the engin over an look at the piston through the carb inlet of exhaust port to see if the piston i even moving.

Oh yes, the piston crank are good, compression is wonderful. Engine condition is outstanding, except for the obvious problem,.

The engine draws air in through the intake, but also pumps air out through the carb pulse hole so your paper won't stick very well.
Put your engine back together and carefully check the pulse hole alignment. Many carbs look like they have two pulse holes, BUT ONLY ONE works make sure that you have the carb right. See if your engine will then draw fuel
Also is the carb OK or is it gummed up with old dried fuel, you may need to clean rebuild the carb

Problem discovered, When I took the lung off, it broke in two pieces at the base. You would never see it to look at it. Funny how the engine still had excellent compression, but would not draw. Definately a big leak, but I never would have thought,,, Oh well anybody got a good 30cc Lung? *LOL*

bat.

(One) lunger is old time slang for a single cylinder engine.
