CARDO, COUNT ME IN!

for the price, even if it was $30.00...it pays for itself. as long as its a good quality product, it'll be well worth the investment up to and including, breaking the part, seeing if a local dearler has it, if so, time and gas to go to the shop, pick it up..and possibly break more..add redundancy (if shop has more in stock). if shop doesnt have it, then ya gotta order online, and wait..wait some more..receive, install...and probably break it again (add redundancy ...) after 3 or more times, I'd rather have a metal core, wait once, even for a higher price, know its possibly going to be the last core you need for some time.

Jon:

The OEM motor came with a little black electronic component on it that is soldered between the + and - terminals of the motor - this is the diode. You must attach it to the new motor, and be sure the right end is pointing to the right terminal. Just make a note of how it is attached to your current motor (which terminal the little silver ring is pointed to) and do the same on the new motor.
One thing I have found very helpful is to take digital photos of your bird the minutes you pull it out of the box. Take the canopy off and get all sides and closeups, especially the rotor head assembly. Thay way when you crash and find little pieces scattered around your basement you'll have a good reference of how they go back together. This saved me alot of aggravation when I removed and unsoldered my stock motor for replacement and wasn't sure how the diode was to be installed on the new motor.

Cardo - yes, I would be interested in a metal rotor core if it can be kept below the $20.

Make sure your throtle (left stick) and trim are at zero before pluging in battery.

Put me down for one! I'm sick of replacing those darned things, it wouldn't be so bad if that pin was not such a pain in the arse.

I'm just trying to get a general idea of if people would want one so I could order materials accordingly.
It might take a wile to get one built so I will let everyone know when or if I have them. I will test it out and take picks before I make a bunch.
I'm in!

But the servos move when you move the stick?

It *could* just be a broken wire on the throttle pot. inside the transmitter.

I`ll look at the TX some more tonight and post if I find anything else.
Comparing readings might be in order.
This is some initial values I found:

The voltage across my battery (Vbat) was ~10V. So if your voltage is higher (or lower), you values will be slightly different.

I clipped on to the gnd on the back of the charger jack (black), and poked around. See the first picture for some voltage values.
One of the more important ones is the antenna (ant). Is there voltage there?

Also check your potentiometers (pots). See the second picture.
All of the white leads should be ground.
All of the red leads should be 5V
All if the black leads (sig) should vary from 0-5V (approximately) when you wiggle the sticks.

Dknovick,
I had to work late last night (Ntwk issues) and did not have time to poke around with the TX. I`ll get on it tonight and compare against your readings and let you know what I find.

Thanks for all the info.
dknovick,

I followed your post and came up with pretty much that same readings that you did after I installed some fresh batteries.. I ended up just chunking the whole thing in a box. On the flip side my new TX should be here today so with a little luck I might get to do some flying tonight. YEA!!!

Thanks for all your help.

Hey Guys

I went to USHobbySupply and could not find those fuse connectors anywhere. I came back here an tried following the link from an earler post and they are not listed there.
Could he already be sold out on them?

Thanks

It is very possible - His site has repeatedly omitted items when he was sold out on them LiPo batteries, chargers, parts; whether he's manually doing it or it's automatic, I'm not sure (the upgrade tail motor GWS-CN12-RXC is still listed but if you add it to the cart, it says it's out of stock)...

He must be hella busy after his vacation...

Yea, I'd be interested in hearing more about the metal cores... Folks who have installed them say that their heli is a little more stable - and, given the flimsiness of the OEM core, I can only imagine how much it flexes during flight...

I have a question about using Century motors on the Falcon 40. The Falcon main motor has a diode across it.
Must I put this diode on the Century motor to use it?
Thanks.

I read in previous posts that the diode is there to suppress any power generated by the motor (during deceleration) from going back into the 4-in-1, potentially damaging components. I would recommend it. Just be sure you you take note of the polarity.

Hmmm, very confusing...[sm=71_71.gif]

So you're sure it's the same crystal frequency in both the 4-in-1 and the transmitter?

very, very weird...

Hey Guys

I went to USHobbySupply and could not find those fuse connectors anywhere.
If you don't mind doing a little soldering, you could whip them up yourself.
MY LHS had both the male and female JST connectors.

Get some heat-shrink tubing, solder the black wires together (cover with heat-shrink), add the fuse holder (the crimps that billmay posted) across the red wires. Heat-shrink the exposed metal. Done!

Remember to slid the heat-shrink on the wires BEFORE you solder them together.

First, I have been lurking for a few months on the forum and learning alot from the information posted. Thanks everyone for making such a good resource of information. Somethings you have to learn on your own. . . as stated below.

geezer76,

I have had problems with raidentech/xheli . First time was with Raidentech. I had ordered assuming the website was correct that they had then in stock. Well they sent an email 3 days later stated it would be 3 weeks and contact them if I wanted to cancel. I tried calling but it just keep ringing. I emailed them twice canceling the order asking for a conformation with no results. Three weeks later a Falcon 40 shows up on my door step. After I read their policy I see why they shipped it, they still charge you. Now a servo burnt out and I ordered from xheli. I know they are the same company but thought I would give them another try. GOT BIT TWICE by them! They sent some blades I ordered for my son. I had used 3 day shipping and paid 20 buck so I could get it early and when I called all they said they could do was sget me a servo! I asked about my extra shipping paid for the item that didn't arrive and the punk on the other end said "what do mean you got your shipment we can't help you there". I stood my ground that I wanted to compensated for the extra money I paid and did not receive my item I wanted. He acted like they did nothing wrong and preceded to tell me to just email [email protected]. What a crock.

BUYER BEWARE OF - Raidentech/xheli

Does anybody know where to get a stock servo that is reliable or compatible upgrade? Not from Raidentech or any of their affiliates.

Thanks

Scott

Scott:

I strongly recommend www.ushobbysupply.com:
http://www.ushobbysupply.com/product...products_id=53

I ordered the Hitec HS-55's - a little smaller, and had to mount them with servo tape & wire ties, but I like them better - more reliable than the stockers:
http://www.ushobbysupply.com/product...roducts_id=223

Michael usually/almost always ships right away, and I normally get my parts from him within 3 business days. He stand behinds his business, too.

Thanks broggyr,

I might give them a try. I have seen posts about the HS-55's and that it takes a little modding to fit the servos. I will have to place a order in the next few days.

anyways, i was curios about the first two products the offered here http://www.helihobby.com/html/mini_h..._upgrades.html

its LOOKS like stuff teh falcon 40 can use. or am i off? (its the fixed pitched "turbine" swashplate, and the Fixed Pitch Dynamic Adjustable Head) looks close enough, but for the money i didnt want to take a chance...yet.

I do believe these parts are in fact for the Walkera Dragonfly 4, Falcon 40, Venom Night Ranger II, etc.

I may be wrong, but looking at the photos of the swashplate, it appears that the lower swashplate "side" arm comes off on the right side rather than the left. I don't believe there's room on the right side of our mainframes to mount a servo there to line up with it.

Great observation! Maybe they just flipped the photo? I'd hate to drop $60 + s/h to find out it's backwards :P
