Default Data warning after selecting model

My 18mz has been faultless for the past 4 years but it did something today which I need to find out if it was a random glitch o r something more serious.

Just had 3 great flights with my jet, decided as conditions weren't the best to blow some dust off my heli. Switched radio on, went into my model list to select the model I wanted, but when I hit select I got a data warning (can't remember exact wording, could have initialisation fail or something), the alarm was beeping and the screen was flashing a warning to power the tx off. Once I switched it back on, even though the name for the heli is still in the list, the complete models settings have been deleted and reset back to new default aircraft.

I tried selecting another model, no problems, but I need to know if anyone has had this happen before and whether I've got a problem or just had one of those random software bugs.

I'm going to back up the rest of my models as a precaution as I've completely lost all setting for my heli.

Thanks for your help.

Simon

Just a quick update. Spoke to a very helpful chap at Futaba support in the Uk. I think I've just been unlucky and had a random glitch and the transmitter has obviously warned me that something had not loaded correctly. The downside is the wiped model memory, but I should have really backed them up (lesson learned there).

If anything else arises I will post back, but I'm pretty confident that I don't have anything to worry about.

Regards,

Simon

Yes, sometimes something causes a "glitch" in the software and you lose something. If it happens more than once in a short period of time, the transmitter needs to be looked at by the service center. If it happens only once in a great while, it's not likely something to be worried about.

Bill,

Thanks for confirming that. The chap said pretty much the same thing but due to the 18mz being pretty bullet proof he didn't think I had anything to worry about. He also said that this failure could not happen I flight.

Like you say, if it does it again in a short time frame I will send it in to be safe.

Regards,
Simon
