Default CAMPAC MEMORY TXFR FM 9C TO 9CS

Your support on this forum speaks volumes for customer relations -- thank you. I just purchased a new 9CS with a CAMPAC to replace my 9C and want to transfer six plane in memory from my 9C to the 9CS. I read on the Futaba FAQ page that this will happen if I load the models into the CAMPAC in the 9C and then insert the same CAMPAC into the 9CS. My question is that the memorry locations for the CAMPAC memory in the 9C will be models 9 through 14 and in the 9CS it would be models 13 through 18. Does this mean that when I insert the CAMPAC into the 9CS from the 9C that all six models will be there beginning at location 13 and ending at 18 instead of beginning at 9 and going through 14. If that is not true then it appears to me that I can only transer models in memory locations 13 and 14 - you can see why I ask.

It is also my understanding that you can move the CAMPAC from the 9C to the 9CS but once it is initialized in the 9CS it cannot be used in the 9C - is the correct?

Thank you

Howard Birch

The model memories in the CamPac are not numbered. They are just "slots", locations. The transmitter will see them all.

You can take a CamPac from a Futaba 9C and use the information in a 9C Super. If you have a CamPac in a 9C Super, with models stored, they cannot then be transferred to a 9C non-Super.

Bill,

Thank you very much for the information - I made the transfer to the 9CS and everything went according to plan.

I sure hate to invade your forum discussion here but I just transferred 3 planes from the 9C to the 9CS and now I have problems!!! I flew my 33% Extra 2 times right after I did the transfer with NO problems and all seemed perfect...then the next day...my ailerons were flaps and I lost !!! I sent the qustion to the Futaba Service Center and they asked if I had run the conversion. I had not but when I try now, there is no "T9C-Pac UPDATE" showing up when I do as the manual says. The only thing that shows up is for the "STK-MODE".

All other surfaces and servos work fine. What in the world happened here???

I want to let Bax answer your question - but, if it helps I checked my new radio (9CS) and it also won't do the update now and I believe that is because the CAMPac module has already been formatted to the 9CS format. In other words, IMO, your CAMPac module has also been converted to the 9CS format and that is why it won't let you do it again. Why you have a flap problem is a different and possibly non related issue to solve, especially since you were able to fly the Extra successfully and then a day later something goes wrong. Regardless, I empathize with you on losing an airplane and hope that you get it worked out to your satisfaction.

Thanks for your input. GLORY TO GOD I didn't have the plane flying when the controls went wierd...I was on the ground and kept form loosing about $3,000 worth of a plane. That is where it pays off...even when the sun is going down and you want to fly so bad...you STILL check all surfaces for proper function.

If it is not the radio, then I have to check the matchboxes or the servos. I have the Hitec Digital 5945's ganged and there has been sooooo much trouble with the protocol with Futaba PCM Rx's. I will try there unless the guys at Futaba can tell me something else about the Tx.

Thanks

One thing to check is the servo monitor in the basic menu. It will tell you what signals are being sent to which channels. If the servo screen shows that the transmitter is sending the right commands, then the problem's external to the transmitter.

Howard was correct about the CamPac. Once it's installed, it will be formatted to fit the transmitter. If you were to put the CamPac that's formatted for the 9C Super back into a 9C Non-super, it would then be re-formatted, and you'd lose everything on it.

Found the problem!! Process of elimination...changed out the Hitec Digitals to JR's (to deal with potential protocol problem with Hitec digitals and Futaba PCM...see threads on that one!!!). Changed out Rx's. Tried old Tx with orginal plane program. Still messed up Ailerons.

THEN...I Y Harnessed the JR servos and by-passed the Matchbox and BAM! There it was...a BAD MATCHBOX!!! I have been warned about them from other good fliers but figured JR had it down. They told me "...one more thing to go down" and "never needed them before". I have 3 of them on my plane!!! I am using JR Amplified Y's now on Ailerons.

Thanks for the input from you guys at Futaba and RCU Members.
