Yes, what you are following is a basic setup for an airplane. You will need to do a series of mixes though to put channel 6 on a 3 position switch.

Please indicate what mix combination would allow that when I am using all 7 channels on a 7 channel radio.

I am going to assume that you have Flaperon active and that you are not wanting to have the dial control your flaps? Is this correct?
If so, then I would recommend the following:
You will want to negate the dial so that you do not inadvertantly move it which could cause a crash. And since you do not have the option of Nulling this out in the PARA menu ( you can change channels 5 and 7 here ) we will need to turn Flap Trim on but in the rates do not set an amount. Leave this at 0%.
Next you will want to go into your PMix1, activate it and set Master as Offset, set slave as channel 6 and set the switch position to your 3 position switch. Set this to activate in the Center position. Now set the rate that you want the flaps to drop in this postion. For mine, I set the center rate to 15%.
Now do another mix, PMix2, exactly the same, but this time you will set the switch postion to Down and set this rate to drop further. I set mine at 50%.
What you will get is ailerons on channels 1 and 6, and then for flap control, you will simply move your 3 posiiton switch to the amount of deflection you need, either Center or Down.
Depending on your sounds set up I would imagine if it's just a toggle type device, you will also need to do an Offset mix.
PMix3 would be made Active, then set Offset as Master, channel 7 as Slave. The switch would be F and in the Down position. And on the second page you would want to set the rate to 100%.
Hope this helps, Krysta

Hi Krysta
My problem was even simpler but by following your instructions I was able to get it to work. Didn't notice the concept of an Offset when reading the manual.
Thanks for the help.

Krysta,
I have a brand new 7C, 2.4GHz that I purchased to take advantage of the additional receiver at $10.00. I have been reading/programming and then more reading/programming and have found a lot of useful information in this forum. But I continue to not be able to set up the Flaperon function to operate both ailerons. I followed the instructions on page 42 of the manual, and, if I set up the Flap-Trim I can in fact get both ailerons to operate as flaps as I turn the VR dial. That's the good news.
The bad news is that I've gone through the procedure described above (setting up the PMix1 and PMix2) and nothing works. Only the left aileron responds. The right aileron doesn't.
Thinking I may have set some other setting that may be interfering with setting this up so I have gone to additional models (3, 4, 5, etc.) that were not touched, all with the same results. Only the left aileron functions when I try to use the 3-position switch.
Please steer me in the right direction.

Krysta,
To expand just a bit on my above post, I can get both ailerons to work as flaps (both left and right operating together) with the Air Brake function as well as with the VR Dial. The Air Brake function works like a charm with the G switch. What I still can't do (the Air Brake function gives you one flap movement only, with both the up and center G switch positions being OFF, and the down G switch position being ON) is get a two step flap function with the 3-position G switch using the procedure outlined by you above to Guy.<br type="_moz"/>

Just to close out this thread. I received an email from Futaba service with advice on the settings required to get a 3-position flap function on my 7C. Of course, this being my first computer type radio (actually, my first Futaba radio since the mid 70's) it took a few emails back and forth to get me squared away. As soon as I gave Futaba the correct aircraft setup information they came right back with the programming steps needed.
Great service, good people, fine product! Thank you.
