And when they find a way to get around those things, it tells one a lot about the comapny involved.

Ok - the point is this

IF such a company was to spend as much effort in providing a decent product as they spent in their "bullying" advertising, then they would not need to spend the effort in such advertising.

Note who came out in their defence? - their suppliers and distributors - not the users of the product.!!!!!

I see e-mails regularly from many companies but nothing anywhere near the volume as those generated by DLA.

Let me think now - Oh yes -
Off the shelf parts, tumble polished cast cases (also available off the shelf from the same cylinder supplier) "same old, same old" everything else, An inordinately high number of e-mails from the manufacturer telling us how good they are (with those e-mails able to bypass most spam filters), a lot of "distributors" saying how great their product is - and very little to nothing to back the quality claims up (yet).

how about some technical info or actual proof of the product.

Why am I wary of this brand? - because I have been personally burnt by another brand that uses the exact same parts supply.

I hope for the sake of those who own the DLA company and (more importantly) those who have purchased the product that this supplier is better than the others supplying the parts. I know I won't be one of their (many) guinea pigs.

Just in case anyone thinks I am totally against this brand, I am not. I will point out that on my own website, I make a suggestion to people who wish to buy the lowest cost engine that they buy one of these from a particular USA based dealer so that they have support should they need it.

Steve,
I understand your dismay however, at least 5 days a week we receive email solicitations from BANK AMERICA, ORCHARD BANK, CAPITAL ONE ETC.
To make it worse we also receive automated phone solicitations from every card processor telling us they will process our card slaes cheaper. Need I go on.
This forum was established to discuss pros and cons of engines.</p>

Here here ...

So would you please help us get back to the topic at hand? How about providing some more information about the engine itself as we have been asking?

Thanks. Dan

+1 (actually, +10)

Also - getting a mate to post a "lead-in and then jump onto it without having anything detailed to add about the engine also tends to cause people to turn away
There have been several very specific technical questions raised in this thread, yet none has been answered. Maybe it's time to drop the advertising and provide answers to those questions?

Default RE: DLA Engines?

And here I was thinking that I was discussing specifically the brand of engine this thread was about in every post I made.

Most any brand of engine can be made to run. As long as the engine is running there will be some who think it is the best brand for them - so that is neither here not there.
Off the shelf parts are easy to purchase and assemble to make an engine that runs.
Properly balanced design and implementation is what makes an engine run well. An actual designer would have had the information I listed right on hand.
Quality of the parts used to make the engine as a whole make them run well and for longer.
Rejection criteria for parts not used determine the consistency of the engine.
Availability of Technical information is somewhat useful to allow distributors to provide truly top notsh service to their customers.
Marketing techniques utilised tell one a lot about a company's attitude to whether they just wish to sell or actually care about their product after the sale.

Sure - I made a couple of posts about the marketing techniques used by DLA. I also asked some technical questions of DLA. How well are the DLA products desinged, assembled and / or rejected as out of tolerance?
That is what will determine the success of DLA (and others).

Thanks ... I would be refraining too I guess ... I can see how it would be difficult to balance trying to run a business in this economy and simply be a participant on a forum. I have seen similar things elsewhere (not RC related).

Disclaimer: I am not in any way associated with VMB ... just a potential customer looking at the DLA32 as a powerplant ... and VMB is in the running for my business. The questions posed above would help me and others so I've chosen to pursue them here versus over the phone.

There are currently few choices in this size and I'd like to know a bit more about the engine than is simply listed on the various websites that carry it.

Dan

Good day Dan,
I have just e mailed you the information you were seeking.
The one question you did not ask was re ignitions. We currently ship all our DLA engines with RCEXL ignitions. We found occasional problems with the 7.4 volt ignitions.

I find it quite strange that you would exclude us from information pertaining to questions asked on this forum about your line of engines. Seems to me you are missing the boat big time by not using this medium to appraise the modelling fraternity of just how good or bad the components that make up your engine are.

Good day Michael,
All DLA engines carry a 2 year warrantee as stated in the manuel. If you have a ignition that is faulty, the procedure is very easy. You send an Email [email protected] with a CC to the the dealer you bought it from stating that the ignition is malfunctioning and you desire a replacement.
The warrantee period is 2 years for the original owner of the engine as stated in their warrantee.Your original invoice for the engine is your proof of purchase.
I am surprised that you did not make a claim until now if purchased a year ago.

Michael,
I do not see a problem. You paid through paypal so ypu have a paypal receipt showing you paid for the engine on X date and to whom it was paid. That is your proof of purchase.
Just follow the procedures I gave you. You can scan the paypal receipt and attach it to the email. If you are having a problem please call and I can walk you through the process. 804-270-7635 We are always here to help.

Thought so, that's why i recently purchased here in US from US providers, i hate this buy here, and get support from over there, basically if i buy here i should have support and warranty her.
Sniffed that one, that's why i did not pursue a claim and helped myself. Example: if i buy a overseas Car, i have to call overseas for warranty ? nope, don't think so.
I am following this forum to find out if anyone has the same issues like i HAD and see whats done about it, so far i seen Ignition updated, good thing.

Ok, how many people out there have received the following e-mail from DLA?
I receive it at least once per month. It did stop for a while after I requested nude photos and "favors" from her but they have started up again recently (never did get those photos - I promise to publish them if I do)

At least she has stopped offering me "exclusive" distributorship now, even though that was often offered in spite of the fact there were already at least 2 other Factory authorised distributors in my market area.
I guess sales are slow.

Don't know why they would be more sophisticated in the European market than anywhere else.

Hi dear friend,

I am honor to introduce we are manufacture of DLA gasoline engine in China.

DLA32,DLA56,DLA112 have been specifically designed, developed and manufactured from

proprietary components for giant scale modeling,it is very powerful extremely lightweight,

easy to adjust and operate, and should provide years of outstanding performance.

They became more and more sophisticated in Europe market,I think now it is a best chance for u to add them into ur products line, hope we can get win-win.

regards
