Default BME G.90 gas

Just some info; A friend and I ran his new .90 today. It looks like a fantastic little engine from our first runs. It starts very easily, runs very smoothly, with little vibration. He ran a MAS 13x6--10,600.---Mas 14x6--10,300. 1 run w/ open exhaust----11,600. Transition is great.

That is great news! Thanks for telling us about that open exhaust test, maybe a tuned pipe and an APC could out perform it! Get any temperature readings? I'd love to put this in a 60 sized pattern plane or a ducted fan unit. I wonder if it would fit?

Sounds like your numbers are just a little shy of what Keith posted when he first introduced this engine.

We have also developed a gas version of the .51 Supertigre and the 2300. They dont run hot at 50:1 mix and I challenge you to wear one out. The .90 turns a 13x6 APC at 12,500 -12,800 rpm on gasoline and stock Supertigre muffler.

Your 2000RPM shy of the posted RPM--maybe it just needs breaking in. I haven't seen too many engines gain 2000 RPM after break in. Actually, I've never seen ANY engine gain that many RPM after break in.

There should be a much greater than 300 separation from the 13x6 to the 14x6. Get the MA props off there an mount the APC. Is the 11,600 with the 14x6? I would like to see this motor with a turbo jett and a 15 x6 apc?[&:] Wonder if it would run HOT? [&:]

So, you expect a customer, with no previous experience, to replicate Keith's claims with his best sample engine, BEFORE the customer's engine has been broken-in?

I don't understand your attitude.

I just ordered a BME G90 today, also ordered a Slimline inverted pitts. I was wondering if the Slimline will increase or decrease performance compared to the stock muffler? Any thoughts?

2000RPM is a HUGE difference betweem what the manufacturer claims and real world numbers.

I don't care how you break it in or what you do to it--that engine will never gain 2000RPM. Not even close.

Just pointing out that here is another manufacturer/distributor that inflates the numbers to sell a product, and for some reason people are willing to look the other way.

It's new, it's expensive--must be good? Never mind the fact that it doesn't crank out like the manuf. clamis.

Just like advertised airplane weights. We all know they are BS, yet we continue to buy the planes and just live with it.

If we would hold these manufacturers accountable and DEMAND real numbers--we'd be beter informed and better off in the long wrong.

It's false advertising--plain and simple. It's not allowed in any other industry that I can think of--off the top of my head. Yet, we continue to buy the products, and live with the shortcomings.

Thats my attitude. Not trying to start a fight--just pointing out another obvious--at least to me--case of false advertising. No one cares, and when I point it out--people like yourself--actually attack me for it.

Whats wrong with demanding the truth from these manufacturers?

Not exactly true...

Hve you ever actually got the claimed MPG from your car/truck/van? These numbers are ideal numbers derived from controlled conditions on a test track. Are BME's numbers any different? I don't know, but this is just one example of real world numbers not matching advertised specs for products that we all buy and live with the discrepencies...

Well...I bought new 2004 Dodge Neon last year...Window sticker mileage is 31 highway..
After 48,000 miles it always did and still does get 31 mpg at 80mph with the air on...
I advertise G26 conversions at less than 2 1/2 lbs..Confirmed by users...
All advertisers are not equal

Put a 13x6 APC prop on it and compare the rpm with the earlier BME post.
Then we'll know if the power figures are supported by the average user.
Comparing to a Master Airscrew doesn't tell us much.

"Hve you ever actually got the claimed MPG from your car/truck/van? "

Yes. 2003 Chev Silverado 5.3 V-8 gets the window sticker highway mileage of 19 mpg at 60-65 mph. Gets 17-18 mpg at 70-75 mph. Both measured several times.

Once again, "Whats wrong with demanding the truth from these manufacturers? "

Now:

Whats wrong with demanding the truth from these manufacturers?

The more of us that continue to buy their products and just "deal with it" when it comes to advertised numbers that don't equal the claims of the manufacturers---then the worse it will get.

Hey!! I'm developing a 35% Extra 300S that will weigh 13 pounds RTF with a DA100 twin and 13 metal gear servos with 3 of the 3000mah nicd 6V batteries.

Any body want one? I'm only charging $1900 apiece for the airframe.

Rcpilet, why do you wish to bash our adverstising? The numbers posted by us were for APC props and the numbers posted by hubbajer were for Master Airscrew. They will not be the same rpm anywhere on the planet just as no two tachs, or engines will be. We have been testing a high compression version that is turning the APC 13x6 at 13,000 rpm but must be run on 100 plus octane. You are welcome to come to our shop with your video camera and check the rpm of any engine in stock. All we ask is you post what you see just as we have. As a manufacturer the last thing we want is for a customer to call and say his engine isnt doing what we said it would. Our figures are for broken-in engines tuned for peak rpm. It just doesnt make sense for us to make false claims.

As to props...A G62 will turn a DynaThrust 22-10 at 7500 at my altitude, 7000 feet..
Same engine turns a MSC 22-10 prop about 6500...
Which number would you advertise ?
Most any old G62 does this, some better, some worse..Been running G62s for 18 years, usual prop is a Zinger 22-10, about 68-7000...No muffler...

RC, since you don't have one of the engines your opinion is completely invalid. No data, no proof, nada.

AND so is everyone else's that does not have one or is not in the same environmental conditions and running the same prop as the test engine! I believe RCIGN1 was trying to make this point.

Keith has given an open ended offer to anyone. Instead of everyone speculating and complaining, why doesn't someone take his offer????

As stated by Keith, it really does not make good business sense to put out numbers that are not attainable in the real world settings. All you would do is PO people and that would come back to bite you. Then you would be shredded on forums like this, and it can happen even before the product has hit the market[X(]

Here are three RCU links to RPM readings taken on the glow G90s:

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_22...key_g90/tm.htm

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_33.../anchor/tm.htm

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_39..._1/key_/tm.htm

It would appear that the 13" props are OK for break-in, but 14" and 15" props are more suitable for everyday use. Also, the G90 muffler appears to be quite restrictive. There are a couple of references to drilling out the stinger, and punching out the baffle. Tower Hobbies calls it the "Silent Muffler".

I'm not trying to start a fight either, so put that worry aside, my friend.

I feel it is too early, with too few end users with engines in their hands to declare that BME is advertising falsely with intent to defraud.

I have owned BME engines in the past and I have been very pleased with BME products and service, therefore, I tend to take a 'wait and see' position. What is to be lost by giving someone the benefit of the doubt?

I agree that false advertising should be pointed out and the word spread. I just think it is a bit premature to start clanging the warning bells. You are entitled to your opinion as well.

Keith, are these engines going to be available at Europe(EU-region)? Price in dollars doesnt sound so bad, but after customs, postal fees and value added tax it's going to be like 500 euros

Or you can send me one free and I will tacho it at -25 celsius
