I'm thinking about replacing my Saito 180 glow with a Evolution 26 gt. Does anyone have this motor? If so, please let me know how you like it what you have it installed in. I have a H9 Cessna 182 1.5 size and it appears that the wieght is about what I need to avoid adding tail weight. It will boost up the HP by one full Horse! Thanks for any info!

Great engine, made by MVVS by the way. Good introduction to gas.
The engine will 3D airplanes up to about 11 pounds, and will power larger sport/scale planes happily.
I've got lots in stock if you want to give one a try -- only $425.00 Canadian too!

I got a funtana 90 with the evo gas engine.before the evo i had a satio 150 and now i know the saito had more power, maybe due to the wait ratio.having said that i love the evo and will never own a messy four stroke again.

The MVS/Evo 26 with a pitts or similar muffler will not outperform the saito 1.80.
It will need the pipe to do that.
Quoted HP figures are meaningless. It's what the prop does that counts.
My MVVS 26 IFS with an 18x8 Bambula and a Bisson in cowl inverted silencer ... best RPM static was 7,100.
I suspect the Saito 1.80 on 10% notro would do another 800 - 1,000 RPM at least.

wrong prop and worse muffler on the 26 -no wonder it was not competitive
add a lite pipe and a good 18x6 - our finding is that it is quite the opposite - propped for close to 9000 on the ground - it runs upward 10,000 in the air

Dick,
I'm setting up an MVVS 26 in my Hangar9 150 size P-47. I bought the Bisson inverted side muffler for it. I really don't want to put a pipe on it for this plane as it will destroy the looks. Is there anything I can do to modify the muffler to make it work better? I'd also like to keep the noise down.
TIA
Bob

I know this is an old thread, but someone here might be able to answer my question.
I have a 1/6 size P-51 ARF (CMP P-51 140 http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_55...tm.htm#5509593 ) that I've added some mods to. With the extra weight I want to make sure I use a strong enough engine. I think this plane was designed around a YS 1.40, but with the mods I went to my LHS today and looked at the Saito 150 and 180. Impressive engines and they slid right in to the plane easily. There's no question about Saito reliability or power, but glow fuel costs vs. gas made me check out the Evo 26GT. It also looks like it would go right in without too many major mods to the plane.
Will the Evo 26GT or the 26GX be enough engine to fly my plane with the mods I've done? Any help before I make an engine decision would be great.
Tim

My MVVS 26 (same as Evolution) with the tunedpipe swings MenzS 18-6 at 9000 rpm on the ground (about 3.3 hp) and this is exactly the same as my ASP 180 fs on the very same prop. The difference is in the cost of fuel, power is the same.
If your plane is designed to use a 140-150 fs engine then the evolution with the pipe will provide similar power and fly the plane just fine. The weight penalty can be greatly reduced by using a much smaller tank than you would use if you went for a glow engine. this is because the gas engine will only use about half the amount of fuel for the same time in the air as a glow engine would use, so the take off weight will be close to identical.
