Got my 58 back after it went in for a blown gasket between the cylinder and crank.
Horizon replaced the gasket and ignition.
Tried to run it today, would not start at all, not even a pop.
Checked for a spark and its there,Gas in the line, choke works correctly in fact nothing changed from peviously.
I then noticed that when I flip it makes a weezing sound and fuel pours out the carb, with or without choke and even after it sits for a while.
So I assumed it was flooded but on pulling the plug it seems pretty dry.
looking thru the intake the reeds look okay but turning it over it seems that the intake is blowing out air as you turn it over???
Its under warranty and Im to tired and hot and cranky to mess much further.
any ideas??????

Is that a 58?
Mine has the block made out of aluminum, didnt want to dismantle it further as it may void the warranty but I suspect its the problem.
I dont think Ive seen any of them spurt fuel out of the carb like this one is doing.
I also wondered about the rings a I thought maybe thats what caused the gasket to blow.
Prior to the gasket incident it was a real easy starter.
Tech notes says he ran it but not like this he didnt!!

Andy,
The pictures, I believe are of a MVVS 58cc. Same engine, made on the same line, just blue anodysing instead of plain or black. Rings are not related to cylinder base gasket failure. You had to have had very high pressure in the crankcase. Maybe a backfire situration. It sounds like it was lunchtime at Hoizon or quiting time when they worked on yours. It is a beautiful motor.

Well cooled down and went back and checked it again.......they had turned the needles out to 3.5 to 4 turns!!!!!
Why on earth would they do that to a perfectly adjusted carb and tell me they ran it and it ran great?
Guess I got bit by the old assumed thing

My 58 would whistle when I flipped the prop I found the screws that hold the backplate/carb mount to be loose.
And I am a little disappointed with their service as well. My 58 ate the ring after less than 5 gallons sent it in for service and got it back in 4 business days....I thought that was great they replaced the ring , piston, base gasket, and carb all under warranty. I went to fire it up this weekend and it ran great for less than 1 minute, there is now a gash in the side of the piston 1/8 of an inch wide by over an inch long....back to horizon I'll see what happens.

Reset the needles, started first flip, man that makes me mad that I didnt think of that Sunday.
I still dont see why they would wind the needles out like that.
Greyhound man, sorry youre having troubles as well makes for a bad day!

I just got a new Evolution 58 for my Aeroworks Yak. First Gas motor as well. Can anyone give me some recommendations on the carb. I see 3 fittings. The black plastic is for fuel. What should I do with the other two fittings? Also what do I do with the crankcase breather hose. Thanks.

Crank breather hose is actually the pulse and goes to the carb, the side with the single screw in the center, the other fitting that is on the cover with the 4 screws in each corner is an atmosphere vent, either leave it as is or attach some fuel line and lead it into the fuse. there are some pictures on the MVVS support pages.
