Hi Folks,

My Latest project is a 5m ws Scale PIK 20 glider.I was maiden it by aero towing with my Composite Extra 330 powering one of my Dl50 s.The glider weighs 9,5 kg,and the Extra 7,5 kg alltogether 17kg airborne. The engine was able to cope with the mission without any problem.Awsome engine.

Wow,just ran my DL w/mejlik 22/10,got 7110 compared to 6990 w/Xoar 22/8,think i will stick w/the prior!
With a 22x8 you should get 7300-7400 easily. At least that's what mine turned with a Vess 22B.

What kind of octane do most flyers with the DL use? Reg. or high test gas. Will it run too hot with premium? Does the stock plug when changed to the NGK make a large noticeable diff?

I use 91 octane just because I can get it non oxygenated. I don't like alcohol..."In my gas" That is. The only reason I changed my plug to an ngk is the ngk fits much better in the head. Much Much better.

I use regular gas and when I switched to an NGK on "The Virginian's" advice, the engine smoothed right out. Huge difference.

Who rebuilt the carb? Sounds like the engine is flooding out.

Is the ignition ok? Getting spark every rotation? You can take the plug out of the engine and put it in the spark plug cap to test this. Turn on igniton and rotate the prop. You should hear a spark every time the magnet passes the sensor.

Do I have an extra one? No. Mine are still the originals. No problems yet. Are you using that China plug? Or a good NGK CM-6?

SOLO if you want to just go out and fly and not have engine problems, trust Jody with your engine issues. Mine both run like tops. The man knows his stuff.

Does Pennzoil only make one type of air cooled oil.
I have been looking for this product, but see two different packaging types. One bottle says Outdoor Multi-Purpose Air Cooled, the other just says 2 Cycle Air Cooled.
The bottle that says Outdoor is the newer one. Is this the same stuff as the one labeled Air Cooled?

I would use the Air Cooled engine oil, Not the multy purpose,

Not to change the subject but I read an article in the Model Airplane News in reference to the efect that ethanol has on the Walbro Carburetor, Not good makes for more Dead sticks,

Its on page 114 near the end,

Well in the past year I did about 400 flights and had 2 dead sticks, one time because I turned the ignition off, the other time I flipped the choke switch. Nevertheless I would rather use gas w/o ethanol. Where to get it?

Nowhere in my neck of the woods. A few years ago you could get the 91 octane w/o ethanol but not any more.

Why did they go and change the package, all it did is cause confusion. It is the same oil. All they did is change the package. Multipurpose for aircooled engines is the same oil as the 2 cylce air cooled. Just make sure it is the the one for air cooled as there is another type of Multipurpose.

I believe you can get ethynol free gas at boat docks and airports .

I couldn't find Penzoil anywhere in Sacramento . I just got some lawnboy and it works fine . Found out later a club member has to order a case at a time to get it here . Then he sells some of it to others .

If you live around the South Minneapolis metro area, you can get non-oxygenated premium gas in Shakopee at Hennin Shell gas station on the main drag (1st street).
I got the Pennzoil 2 cycle Air Cooled at Advance Auto Parts.

You want the 2-cycle air-cooled... I think the type designaiton on the back label is TCP-1.

Get it [link=http://oilstore.stores.yahoo.net/pe2cyforairc.html]here.[/link]

Run it 32:1 for the life of the engine with 91 octane. Noticeably more power than synthetics at 50 to 100:1.
