DL-50 engine
#3904
Just noticed both the 55 and 111 DLE engines show an increase in power over the 50 and 100cc (5.2 to 5.5hp, and 10.2 to 11.2 respectively), but also noticed there's a weight decrease in both .... 1350 grams down to 1310 grams, and 2950 down to 2870 grams respectively.

There is no info on the 4 cylinder other than coming soon but that was announced months ago. The DL factory is very good at keeping things quiet until they want you to know.
And Bosco, the DL50 thread isn't going anywhere, it'll just have a younger brother to mentor along. If things go right you guys will keep them separate so things don't get confused between the two, I expect they may have some differences worth keeping separate.

At this time, yes. We won't raise or price unless we have to.

This was true at the the time of the previous posts. Shortly after, we were informed of an enforced minimum advertised price of $410.00 for the DLE55 and $730.00 for the DLE111. Sorry![sm=angry.gif]

Hey guys something does not make sence. How does the DL111 pick up 1hp and the DL55 only gets .3 hp more. the other thing is if you take 55 +55 you get 110 how do they get a DL111 out of two DL55. Thanks The RoadRunner

The bore and stroke works out to 55.67cc for one cylinder and 111.33cc for two cylinders. Simple math. Radius squared x pi x stroke. If they wanted they could have rounded the 55 up and called it a DL 56. For marketing they probably liked the sound of 55, 111, and 222 better.

You guys worrying about the new 55 coming out should just relax. The DL-50 is an absolute power house. Let me tell you guys this. You take your DL put it up next to one of the "NAME BRAND" motors and you will out power them, and your motor will start easier than any of them I promise!!

Then when you want the 55 you'll just have to build another plane.

PAUL5992, YOU ARE RIGHT,,.. dont wory about the differance I would be willing to bet that the 55 cylinder would fit on the 50 crank case (it could be) that the 50 series cylinder and piston is not being built but the 55 is,. if we could get the info from the mfgr. as to why ??? the 50 is no longer around . or possibley the engine designer found the 55 is a better and stronger engine ?? things to think about and make one say hmmmmmm I wounder !?

That I have no idea of what the actual answer is. To offer a guess though the 55 has one piston that has increased in size trying to turn one crankshaft and the 111 has two pistons that have increased in size to turn one crankshaft. So therefore the overall resistance by percentage is less with the twin. I could be out to lunch with that idea, as I said it's just a guess.

OK guy's
let's see if this make any light of this,
The DL 50 is a great engine so what can we do to make it better? Let's take some of the feeback that we have on the bad side and change it [ what ever the bad side may be] so they may have made some improvement to the engine and bore the cylinder out a few thousand in large the piston ring only and let's call it the DLE 55, and I think that may be all they have done to it, so I would not build my hopes up to think that it will have much more power than it has at this time, I do not think we will notice any diference in this new engine, Im perfectly happy with mine as it is,

Guys I know this is way off subject, but what are yall useing for a throttle arm? I have a DL-50 that I just bought, that lil throttle arm is just way to short, I need a longer one so I can set up my throttle linkage. Thanks.
