I am back from getting in two flights on the BME. All went very well and the motor ran like a charm. Knife Edge, inverted flying and many up lines and all went well. The mid range did not have any issues as T-rolling was very easy to control. I did not re-adjust my CG for the drop in weight and it was not too bad. The only time you knew the CG was off was inverted flying at a faster pace and the plane was on its own sheet of music to do a slow outside loop. Since the motor is breaking in I had oil all over the place and this caused my pipe to come loose at the coupler on my last flight. Not sure how to tackle that issue while she breaks in. I also was running a mix on my 9x for the throttle. The motor was around 7350 on my hot landing of the 1st flight. The idle will go down to 1100 but I flew at 1650 with a bump up on the gear to 1800 until all has been tested and broken in.

Hey guys, there is surely more than just 10 or 12 of these out there in the marketplace. Let's hear about them, likes & dislikes, what planes are they in.Mine is going in a 50cc Ultimate- not done yet.
there should be tons of activity on this engine. It's the best thing to come along since sliced bread & peanut butter. I'm trying to get motivated to finish my Ultimate.

All mine is on a EF Yak. I did do some testing in the backyard on a 24 x 8 BME prop. I have been busy with working on my house so my Yak is collecting dust because of those reasons. I am running mine on a Karl from Canada header along with a CF pipe. I do not have 1/2 gallon on mine at this point I have flew it 2 times so that is my input along with these below links:

I got 4 flights on my new 58 this past weekend. I am running the ES pipe as well, 11" header. 7890 on the first run and 7800 consistently when warm with the Vess 23A. I have a 24x8 to try this weekend. Great little engine so far.

Charleswhere did you buy your header?? I have a 58 on order and want to pipe it after trying the new stock muffler.
Those are some pretty good numbers, I'm hoping for 7100++ on a stock muffler & menz23x8

The header is made by Karl Mueller in Canada. He is the only one who makes a wrap around header for the 58. I am not sure how it will run on a stock muffler, if they are the same mufflers they are using on the BME 50, I bet they choke this motor up. Pipe or can is probably the best way to go IMO.

I posted this elsewhere, my EF Yak weighs 17lbs and the engine flies it very well on a stock muffler. If you look at the other BME thread you will see more information, when piped, it really comes alive.
I had a chance to fly my 58 (stock BIG muffler) with a Vess 23a, I only flew a few minutes because my plane kept disappearing. The conditions were less than ideal, 40* and fog. I could pull out my old E6B and tell how far off standard conditions that is, but it might not have had that great of an impact on my numbers. Although, when I landed my plane was washed for me, it was dripping wet.
In stock configuration you should hit about 7300 +/- on the vess 23a, and have about 28-29lbs of static thrust. I was too lazy to re-adjust my needles, did not want to lay on the wet grass.
I seem to have to use tad more throttle to fly at similar speeds to the menz-s 23x8 (I was hoping for that) and pull out of hover seemed a little better on the hole shot, but did not steadily increase speed vertically as much as the menz. Then again, I could not go vertical very far before I lost the plane.
I can't wait to try a tuned pipe and hit 7900 on that vess or menz, both very good props for the 58, That would truely be better than foamie power

How is that Ultimate going? I'm very interested in seeing your install. I don't know the particulars on your Aero-works Ultimate. I'm on the list to get their new one, out this next year. I'm looking to get this motor for it, I think it will do the job, with smoke!!![link]http://aero-works.net/store/detail.aspx?ID=350[/link]
Thanks.
