RTK,

Wow!, you should now be seeing what I am seeing when I fly my Yak. I bring mine in for landing like trainer oh so slow and greesing it on the wheels so that the soft landing gear does not even flex. I am running mine on that Light weight Carbon Fiber pipe. I never cared much for CF until I got this Yak. I have since converted a few more birds over to CF wing tubes to shead an oz or two here and there. I think I have the Yak dailed in with the correct CG, mixes, and up & right thrust that is just a joy to take it out. I have to land mine if someone comes in the air with me as I can't hear it and I like to know if for some reason I am dead sticked. I don't have that issue when I fly my DA-85 on the JTEC pitts What batteries r u running? I am doing a 5200 on the reciver fromco and a nmhi 1650 on the ignition.

Running two 2200 A123's. With my weight change and the CG being a little further back I will have to tweak my mixes some. The plane is actually a joy to fly now, before it flew like it was over weight, but had tuns of power with that piped 62. It's a real floater now.

I'm still awaiting a reed block and carb for my 115. As of two and a half weeks ago they aere going to send them and I was going to send money. Tom said he would ship Altavillan's reed block with my parts. So far no joy. Then again, they said the same thing in April then again in July.

I'm willing to pay the $176.00 for the aluminum block and carb but after a two year wait between the two owners I need a sign of good faith. I'm REALLY tired of effin around waiting for this company to come through! I hope you folks with the new engines don't get the same type of support I've received from them.

If I don't get the damn parts soon my BME will be coming off the Yak to be replaced with a DA or something that actually runs. Then the 115 will be up for sale to whoever else wants to wait a lifetime for parts.

Tired Old Man, the parts have been sitting on the bench since you ordered them. I am just waiting on payment.

Thanks,
Tom

When we passed e-mails it appeared that you would ship and I would send a check. Of course, I could post the complete e-mail chain to verify that. Because of the years of delay I think you can undertsand why I would like to see parts or a shipping notification from a major carrier before I sent money. Check will go in the mail tomorrow.

Since I have to trust you more than you will trust me, please don't cash the check until you put the parts in the mail. If you accept credit cards I would feel a lot better about fronting money.

Tire Old Man, I have an extra reed block and a wga-7 that you can have anytime you like. We can have that Yak in the air in no time, beside I want to fly it
My first 115 is still with the previous owner of BME (Keith) and have been told it was in the mail months ago, doubt I will ever see it.
The new owners of BME have responded to all my requests and purchases in a very timely manor. Call them up and leave your CC #, and address on their recorder, I am sure they will be at your door step before you get home.

I'm sure you've noticed, but there's no methods of payment mentioned on the BME site. You can e-mail any part of BME but you can't click anyplace to take care of money matters. I'll do the cc thing by phone in the morning. Anybody that open e-mail's a credit card number is asking for nothing but trouble. Hell, I would have done an electronic transfer if the e-mails had not sounded like I could mail money after shipment.

I'll have to pick up some new flight batteries for the Yak. What had been a pair of new 5,200 and one 2,600 li-ons have been sitting for two years now and are probably toast. Like I told ya, this engine is going to cost me over $1,600.00 by the time all is said and done to get in in the air. I'm still looking for the gold plating.....

At least there's a chance this one can finally be put to bed and remove the constant irritation every time I look at the yak.

Quick update on the 58. I have not talked to Tom so I don't know if this is relevant to me or others too.
The reed cage on the 58 is, or appears to me, to be off of the 110. It has a pulse port built into the base for a different carb.. That pulse port on mine was just a tad over the side of the carb and leaking. I rotated the block because the carb is wider on the other side and will cover the pulse hole. Very easy, you will need a 1/2 or so longer fuel line for the new pulse line.
Now my engine does act erratic at idle anymore.

kewl mine must have been turned right from the start as a good low idle I have always had.... When you going to get a chance to fly this beast. I believe Tom says the 110 uses this same reed set up......

Krazy,,,,,I have put about 20 flights on this engine so far. I was almost going to sell my EF Yak because it did not fly all that well, but after replacing my other engine and pipe with the 58, I dropped about 2+lbs and now it is finally a joy to fly.
The problem was with idle and a click or two above. If I tuned it one way it would lean on extended idling, if I went the other way it would be a tad too rich in the air. Now all is good.

You can call Tom, who is very responsive, and give your card on the phone.

My experience with BME lately has been great. Both in terms of reaching someone and in turnaround time.

I wish DA was that good, or fast...

I really need to try a pipe, not that it is lacking in power, but I feel this engine will perform best on a pipe.
How loud are those ES composite pipes??

Ralph,

What is lacking in technique will rarely be mitigated by excess power You finally got the plane to fly reasonably well by removing excess weight and now you want to put it back in?

A few oz's from an es composite pipe shouldn't make any difference, but the full throttle pull outs would look like the plane was launched from a sling shot

RTK you may end up being lighter than a muffler as most muffer at 10-12 oz anyway. I do love a quiet plane.....

May All be for not, I just noticed when I was playing with the carb, I set it on my work bench and picked up an older HDA carb from another engine. Even though they are both HDA's one "might" be thinner on one side. That "might" have been it all along[] Boy do I feel dumb now.

RTK,

Parts warehousing. All the parts from one engine go into one container. Parts from other engines shall not be mixed into other containers You're starting to get me concerned for your customers

They are Yellowish and look to have a mess in them, from what I remember

I was in a bit of a hurry this morning trying to diagnose the erratic idle, I make all my throttle arms the same way, so once I set it down, they looked identical, but it did run better............In fact there may have been a leak all along, or a bad carb, who knows. Unfortunately I am to lazy to take off the carb and check. But I did get in a bunch of good flights today Hows the weather up there

Cold and wet, with more of the same anticipated next week. Gotta go play at the range today for annual re-quals. We've become worse than the FAA with regulatory B.S.[:@]
