Does anyone know off the top of their head how far the pitts muffler (including bolts) protrudes from the engine? I've ordered the 26cc for the seagull spacewalker and already know the stock pipe will be way outside the cowl. The keleo exhaust might fit in the cowl but, $150 for a 26cc muffler is a bit steep(for me anyway). The Jtec might even be right on the edge of fitting not sure until I get the engine mounted. Thanks in advance.

Looks pretty close to 1". I have one on my 1/4 scale cub. I also had them make the wrap-a-round can a little smaller so it would fit between the head and the firewall. It increased my RPM over the stock muffler by 200+ Hope this helps. [sm=49_49.gif]

Here's where I get my felt clunks. I order half a dozen at a time so the shipping doesn't kill the deal.

I noticed that the 26 in Catfish2's photos has a different cylinder casting than my 26. The spark plug slants to the left on his - mine slants to the right. Has RCGF gone to a different design? My fins on the top of the cylinder are straight, Catfish2's are slanted.

Catfish2's head looks like the one on some other 26 cc engines on the market - notably the SPE if I remember correctly.

The one that has the same cylinder as the SPE is the older design and was replaced with a new model a couple of months ago. It sounds like you have the new version. Here is a link to the info sheet on the new engine design.

Someone is sure to point out that the filter in the pic is for engines up to 33cc. Don't have a panic attack because it works for engines up to at least 150cc as well.

I can confirm my 26 was the older design. This one came with the large spark plug and still had the plate on the cylinder covering the port for a side mount carb. I will eventually buy a new cap and adapter to allow using the small plugs.

Does anyone have suggestions for a source for a exhaust header to fit this motor? I have a tuned pipe to try, just need the header.

Goirish,
Are you saying that you have the Keleo? I think if any of the three available that it may fit but, $150 isnt cheap for just the muffler. I dont need the standoffs. Do you happen to know the dimensions of the Jtec version? Thanks in advance.

For a custom header (at VERY reasonable prices) contact "[email protected]". Karl made a header for my 50cc and it fits great and is a work of art!

Send Kelvin at Keleo an email and ask if he'd sell the muffler alone. He is a great guy to deal with and stands behind his work.

I think I have the Jtec muffler. I can get a picture of it for you. It is on the Cub with the cowl off. Henry recommended that I try the one I have.

I got one of those today at the lawn and garden shop. Turns out I didnt need it, found my problem. My twist ties inside the tank werent tight enough causing air leaks. I originally tried squeezing the brass tube a little thinking the twist ties would be tight enough to keep it from slipping off, wrong!! So I soldered on some solid phone line wire wrapped a few times. I didnt have any barbs from the hobby shop. Pressure tested under water air tight now.

Hey Buck I sure like the space saved and the look of your muffler. Is this on the 26cc and can you make one for the 20cc rear carb? Oh do you make and sell these mufflers. That is the big Question?

The muffler in the pic is on my 26cc.
I have my welder make these up for me as i havent had a chance to upgrade my welder yet.
I have one for a 26 and a 45 right now.Ill have to go look at the manual for specs and then ill need maybe a couple more from you.
The manual doesnt give me at least 2 measurements i need.[at least the last time i loooked].
Now,heres the worst question, how fast do you need it?
My welder lives in another state and sometimes gets backlogged.Im going to call him tommorow night.Hes working on a personal muffler for me.

I might be interested in one for the 20cc rear carb. What kind of cost are we looking at?

BUCK1856 made the pitts mufflers for both my 26 cc and my 45 cc RCGF engines and I am quite happy with both of them. They are good quality at a reasonable price.

Best wishes and good safe flying.

Had a great day flying this evening, 20cc rear carb. Finally got everything dialed in, no more air leaks inside the tank, and got a real low stable idle. Five 10 minute flights on a 1400ma battery. Life is good. Just wish I could find a quieter muffler. I've got more than enough power for my Rascal110.

Getting ready to run my 26cc for the first time and checked the timing. The spark plug fires at 34 deg BTDC. I remember back in this thread that Bob said to leave it at 30 deg. Should I adjust the pickup back to, say 30 deg? What called my attention to it was that the pickup housing is at one end and can't be moved without elongating the slot.

If it's a lot of work to change it - leave it at 34 degrees. They run quite happily anywhere from 25 to 35 degrees - 30 is the aiming point for most users.

If it "bites back" while starting, then it is a good idea to retard it but at 34 degrees, I doubt you wil have any issues at all.
