Flew some more yesterday, had to richen the low end a bit but now she purrs.  No more burbling, and good power for big loops.  I wouldn't know a 3d move if it happened in front of me, but for all I'm trying to do the 26cc is doing great.  Thanks to all of you for your great spot-on advice (yes, Pat, you especially).  Can't wait to start flying the 50cc next!

Well out doing some flying now and I hotya say your tinning advice was right on. Peak rpm's aren't what they were but I think that is due to the timming change. I will mess with that later, I did to syn oil now. I do have a little build up of deposits in the cylinder, will this go away in time with proper tinning? Thanks for all the advice, better get out and do more flying. Almost 90* pit but a storm is comming. Shane

I just received my 26cc engine, I asked earlier if the prop bolt is drilled to accept a spinner bolt. Someone advised that they are, mine is not? Are there different versions? I purchased mine through KMP with an airplane.

Does anyone know if the version two ignitions can be safely run with an A123 or tbm pack without a regulator. The instructions say input voltage of 7V. DA for example sais its no problem with their ignitions.

thanks for the help

I said the same thing when I first asked the same question. Look closely inside the hex head socket and you might find what you are looking for. But I could be wrong.
I think KMP carries the Arovate line and are the newest version, you should be OK.
Don't know about A123. Sorry.

Had two more flights with the 26.
Nothing to gripe about today. It ran great.
Got a Seagull Yak for the 20 to replace the Laser. Should have it ready by the end of next week.

Tom,

Could you post some pics of the engine install ?? They have one at one of the local hobby shops and was just kinda drooling over it.

I found this on You tube, not an Aerovate , but the video was cool.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vjy7Y...eature=related

Tom,

Thanks, I'm looking forward to seeing them. I'm hoping to finally get some flying in on the 26cc Stick. I'm hoping NOT to find anymore problems with the plane. I got a little burned out fixing problems and put it aside.

Tom,

Looks good, can't wait to get a flight report. I don't have choke troubles with the Stick , no cowl to cover anything up.

You will have to wait I'm About 2 days from finishing the set up and am still waiting for my Xoar props to come in.The sizes I need aren't available locally.
May have to fly it with an APC.
Which brings up another question for one of you experienced tuners. Do you have to re tune an engine for different prop sizes?

Depends on the change. Larger/smaller diameters and pitches generally need a little attention. Changes in brands in the same size range deserve some listening too to determine if further attention is required. It's a case by case thing. The engine will tell you what you need or don't need to do.

OK Guys

I will add , it will tell you when the ign bat takes s++++t , the engine will sputter a bit and quit and as you all know your bird is not ware you would like it to be, Being my first CDI type engine I have learned the had way to pay more attention to that battery.

Now the Question why would a brand new battery fail?? In my 30 + years of flying RC yup that 's 30 + years and never had a battery fail had them go bad but was allways able to detect them befor flying now I have had a xmitter bat tery short 1 cell (got hot turned the shrink wrap brown) and now it looks like a cell in my ign/bat has also went bad

I know this may not be the wright thread but just would like your thoughts

Things happen. You got away with everything for a very long time and the law of averages caught up with you. If you normally buy the good stuff I wouldn't lose any sleep over an incident every decade or so

I lost my first plane/warbird to this very thing. One cell died and rolled right into the ground. It was the 3rd flight on the trainer box. Since then I will never use a factory battery that comes in a RTF unless it's a lipo or similar. Don't you just love this hobby..

PS. They were Sanyo packs (both) have used there packs for last 16 years or so , any way, if they are not to be trusted the who's and who's singsl cells are best if I build my own??

Wood like to stay with ni-cads or ni-mh;s as I think all of my chargers, cyclers and stuff will suport them best and I don't have to learn somyhing new

Beast place to buy batt's? most of mine have come from Tower or batterys USA

Thanks for your thougths

Bob T

OHthe 26 was running great had switched fuel mix to 50:1 Klutz syn and 100 oct. low lead ave gas idle was right at 1860 +/_ 20 rpm and top end was a steady 8420 on a 16 X 8 apc

Batteries America sells some pretty good stuff, as many others do. I won't use anything Tower since they like to sell stuff they can obtain at the lowest possible wholesale price.

Anything can experience an ocassional failure. With good products it's a rare occurrance but it does hsappen. I can't imagine everything working perfectly all the time. Even Mil Spec stuff fails periodically and nothing gets better than that.

I've bought my batteries from www.cheapbatterypacks.com.  His cells are fresh, Sanyo, and nicely priced.  Plus I can request leads of specifc lengths and no extra charge.

Bob check this site out, they have a battery for everything and I believe they are sanyo. They are excellent batteries and an excellent company. If they don't have something you're looking for they can make it. Aside from 1 or 2 venom packs everything I own is an NOBS battery, trans & recv. bats.

The other thing I like is that they give you all the info you need about the batteries, Tons of literature as well as a chart to keep track of your charges and very detailed charging instructions to begin the life of your pack, I've had 2 of mine for over 3 years now and I would choose them over any other brand new or used. Great stuff.  I can easily get a full day flying out of one pack, 2hrs flight time easy.
