2 of my 3 3000MAh NiMH battery packs from hangtimes.com charged above capacity when formation slow charged.

one shows 6.8 volts and the other 2 show 6.7volts.

i was surprised that they charged above capacity.  never had a NiMH charge above capacity before.

i would recommend hangtimes.com to anyone.

Yeah it is kind of shocking when you see it. But they do last a long time.

Problem solved. My engine has been cutting out during inverted flight..Since I have some down time with my plane, decided to pull the fuel tank out for inspection...My hobby shop supplied me with glow fuel line, instead of gasoline fuel line as I requested...Fuel line had swollen, and my clunk had come off... This time I will zip tie all my fuel line connection...

Just be carefull you don't pull a puckker under the zip tie's, I like .020 s/s safty wire 2 rounds and just 2 twist's.

Just my 2 pennys worth

Wire cuts plastic and rubber. Keep that in mind if and when your engine doesn't want to draw fuel anymore.

I should have paid more attention to the posts on page 135 about the Sullivan gas stopper having degradation problems. Mine also came apart today. Fortunately I found the problem on the ground before engine start.
Here’s part of my post that I sent out to our club members:
If you are using the Sullivan S478 product on your fuel tanks for gas operation I would suggest that you replace the fuel stopper ASAP! My fuel stopper disintegrated after less than 8 tanks of fuel and lead to a fuel soaked fuselage bottom in my Christen Eagle. This seems to be a common problem; and I base that on my personal experience and from the RCU posts that I have seem in the last two weeks. I suspect that the Ethanol additive in the gas is the culprit. The Dubro #400 brown gas stopper appears to not be degraded by Ethanol.
I ordered aluminum stopper caps from PSP. They look similar to the Sullivan but are 1/3 the price, mainly because Sullivan’s conversion comes with extra items that you generally don’t need. I can reuse the Sullivan aluminum cap with a Dubro brown gas stopper, but after that I’ll be using the PSP/Dubro units.
http://www.pspmfg.com/FuelTankCap.html - The neon purple is the only one currently in stock for 5/32” tubing. That is the one I ordered.

With some history in using aluminum caps, excersise a little vigilance and periodically check the clamping pressure of the center screw. They loosen up from time to time and generate an air and/or fuel leak. I have several that I will no longer use for that reason.

I agree with your comments T.O.M.

This fuel tank was my first use of an aluminum cap. I was concerned about the stopper screw coming loose since it was going into a threaded retainer. In these type of blind applications I have used one small drop of red Loctite under the head of the screw with 100% success to date. If the screweverneeded to be removedat a later time it has popped looseafter a small applicationof heat from a soldering iron. I admit that I would only do this with a socket head screw, not a phillips head screw which is easily stripped.

I'm really disappointed that this Sullivangas stopperdisintegrated so quickly. If this is going to be the norm then I hope Sullivan pulls this product from the market. I will sendSullivan a polite letter explaining the problem and hope they will accept some constructive criticism about this product and its potential negative consequences.

Thanks,
Mike

Hay T.O.M. I am with you 100% on the use of wire and you do have to pay vary close attention but after about 20+ years of use I still like it and I do make it to tight once and a while.

I just ran across this thread and started reading it from the beginning, but just don't have the time to go through the whole thing. I had never hear of this manufacturer before, but from the little I've read, I'm really interested in their products. I don't have any gas engines yet, and this would be my first. Ihave a Seagull Ultimate 90-120 size and I was planning on putting an Evolution 1.20 glow engine on it. Then I remembered about the SPE 26cc gas engines and started thinking about getting into gas. However, now that I have found RCGF engines, I think I'll try them instead.

Will the RCGF 26cc be a good choice for the Seagull Ultimate? What props would you recommend in 2 and 3 blades?

The 26cc should a great choice for that bird. I think most guys are using 16-17" props for theirs. I'm sure someone will chime in shortly. These are great little motors and run terrific.

I'd take a 16x8 and 16x10 to the field, see which one you like. A lot of it will depend on flying style - are you looking for 3D or Sport performance? I have my RCGF 26 in a 1/7 scale P-47D, the 16x10 is by far the better prop for me.

I'm just into sport flying, not 3D. I hadn't thought about using it in my TopFlight P-47 as well.

Went to maiden the Sea Gull Yak today. The 20 fired right up but had to shut it off cause the ruder servo was twitching around center.[&o]
Got it home, changed the servo, problem solved.

Maybe Friday. That is when the weather forecast is going to cooperate.[sm=shades_smile.gif]

More flights with the 25% Aeroworks Edge and the RCGF 26cc engine.  Ran great, good power, big loops, 12 minute flight and I had about 3/4 of a 12 oz tank left over!  I could probably go down to an 8 oz tank!

Looking for a plane for my 20cc had it in my P-47 and it seemed to want to tip stall if it got too slow?
Plus I miss the 4 stroke sound in that plane was thinking about a 140 cessna 182 any suggestions for a scale or sport plane?

Thanks, Larry

His last post on this thread seems intact.  He's having some issues with moderators here on RCU, so maybe that's it.

Hi everyone, I am the Sales Technician from KMP. The Aerovate line has taken us by surprise and the demand is higher than the supply. I wanted to address the bolt for a spinner. The answer is yes the end of the prop main bolt is drilled and tapped for a 4mm bolt. If for some reason you don't have this on your engine, contact BJ's engine service. They are the factory authorized service center for both the Aerovate and the RCGF engines. Another accessory website you may find some good accessories for this engine is www.magnumrc.com. There is inverted Pitts mufflers and standoffs for this engine. Another jewel to be found is a scale prop hub designed for the 26cc that fits right over the drive plate for this engine. FYI

To all,
I know that the ignition has a futaba connector on it but, I only have JR/Hitec stuff. I was wondering if my superswitch I plan on using has to be a Futaba or are the charge jacks that different. I thought the positive is always the middle lead. thanks in advance.

JR and Futuba are the same as far as the wires go, just be sure you line up the BLK/FUT to the BRWN/JR wires. I use JR digitals for my ailerons. Plug them in like so, I always plug in the male JR end into the female futuba end otherwise you have to trim the tab on the futuba. Just be sure to safety wire or clip them together as the JR end is a little odd shaped.

Got the maiden in on the Sea Gull Yak with the 20. Got 8,840 rpm with a Xore 16-6 on the ground. This engine has about 1/2 a gallon through it 32:1 Pennzoil. It amazes everyone that sees it run.
The plane has unlimited vertical and seems to be a great match for the engine. Did run into a problem I have not encountered before. The elevator trim couldn't be adjusted for level flight. It was either climbing or with one click down it would drop with hands of on elevator. It flew level inverted without input. 45 degree inverted climb stayed at 45 degrees..The C/G was right on with the Venessa Rig. That is as much info as I can give right now. Any help would be apreciated.
