Ryobi linkage

Got it running pretty good, 6600rpm on 18x8 zinger with about 2400rpm at idle. Very reliable now, and good transition. I used the Jag conversion kit. My concern is the possible metal to metal contact at the throttle linkage. Should I insulate it? And what would I use that would stay in place? Or am I being paranoid! This was an old reject that was given to me. I estimate it has about 200 hours on it during its first life.

Sounds like you may need a spacer under the carb if its hitting. You may not even be opening the throttle all the way.
Another option is to remove the throttle arm and re-install it so that it does not hit. Ive seen some install a tiller arm from a nose gear as a throttle arm.

It has the spacer that came with the Jag coversion kit. I just looked again at it with a different perspective. It looks like I can remove the quick link and connect a nylon clevis to it (duh!!). That solves the interference on that end. And it looks like it wasnt reaching full travel, but only by a tiny amount. Thanks for the hint. The remaining concern is when it reaches max travel it hits another metal stop. What about that?

If the throttle butterfly opens to full travel, why would you want to go any more than that? The arm sticking out of the carb is to stop the throttle from going beyond full travel.
This is a typical minor problem with the Ryobi and it appears you already have the solution. Your RPM's arn't bad for a stock engine.
