Check your clunk in your tank. That happened to me last weekend at the field and it drove me batty.

yeah... I felt a little dumb, a new battery and it fired right up. Got about a tank through the 55 now and runs and starts on the first flip when warm. My ZDZ never started this easy. I'm stoked now! Gonna fly it this weekend.

We've all done those kind of things. [:@] Glad you got it going, keep us posted on how it performs this weekend.

Hey Guys,
i just got my DLE 111 in this week. I looked it over and am satisfied with everything except one thing. i noticed the fins on the head are quite thin compared to my DA and also the DL 50 that i have. Is this anything to be concerned about?

That's maybe how they saved some weight.
Only concern would be in a crash. The thinner they are the easier to break.

The heads on a Briggs and Stratton or Tecumseh would not survive most crashes so believing the head fins on a areo gas engine might survive is folly. The thinner fins won't be an issue.

They are designed to act as a crumple zone to absorb energy from an impact thus saving the airframe.[sm=lol.gif]

Got my first four flights in today with the DLE 55. Ran excellent! Couldn't have started any easier. Only needed choke for the first start and always started quickly, usually one flip if still slightly warm. Put a smile on my face. What a change from the ZDZ I had for years. Ran great in the air as well. Others at the field had heard of the DL's but this was the first any had seen and they were all well impressed. Everything stayed tight, ran great and no leaks, together with a 75 degreee day and clear blue skies made for awesome day of flying.

Mustang,
Glad to hear you are happy with your DLE 55. I ordered one on Friday. A friend of mine has one and was impressed as well. This prompted me to "jump in". It's going on a Hanger 9/Carden.... Bill

Good to hear they are running good. I should have mine in the air this weekend if I manage to get my firm brown collected.

Not sure if it is already posted, but I see that TBM has the DLE-222 listed.

Ordered mine today [8D]
I'm going to put it into my PA Clip Wing Monocoupe for a season, a bit concerned about prop clearance. Can I use smaller prop (like 20x12 or even 18x12) and restrict throttle to never exceed 7000-7200rpm? Is it ok to use smaller prop for break in, too?

Whoa, for a minute there I thought you meant the DLE-222 (see previous post to yours). Then I saw your prop sizes 20x12 and 18-12 and thought.....is he crazy? You obviously meant the 55. That was funny.

I read this whole thread and even saw some pretty pictures but what about putting a prop on it and starting it?
Anybody decided to fire this bad boy up?

Wife said I could have one for my birthday but I want to see some smoke outta one. I'm already fairly convinced it's a deal so maybe I'll get to be the lucky guy who runs it.
Can't wait.
I'm just bettin its a hoss. Got a GP Ultimate waiting for it.

The DL-55
There are few reports in this thread of the DL 55 running, one of my own on the previous page and another on this very page. [sm=confused.gif] If you are looking for video I'm working on setting that up for Saturday. [sm=cool.gif]

You are right. I guess I glazed over the thread.
I'm really set already on getting one of the DL55s and just a little nervous since they are so new.

It sounds like the DL50 has made its mark so I would assume the DL55 would be a safe bet.
