I'm not here to make anyone happy. If the kid is ugly, telling Mom it's cute doesn't change the appearance of the kid. Information I'll give but no Dr. Feelgood stuff.
Now that right there is funny

Ya but Mom ,I need some of that Feel good stuff and that groumply Old Man on-line is saying ...NO more feel good Stuff. He called me uglly, just because..well maybe he is ugly and his mom too. Kick his ***** Mom..

You're cracking me up John. Time for me to get my butt off of the couch and get out to the field. Flying time is a wasting.

I got to get off too...need a tap to tap threads in a adapter part I made. The size is a question too. Need bolts that will fit a Pitts style muffler that was to a Moki 1.35. Lost the bolts...but a american size may work too....as long as I can get a bolt the right size and tap with SAE threads. Oh the fun of it all! Capt,n

Gaskets under the cylinder would change the timing?
No. all the extra gaskets will do is change the comp. ratio!!. The only way to change the timing is to move the timeing sensor. The Compression ratio from the factory is 7.6:1 by moveing the jug higher only lowers the comp. ratio. and has nothing to do with the point of combustion of the engine.

On my new V2 rear carb 30cc DLE there was no steel alignment pin in the whole. I did not drill the block, I just installed a piece of plastic tube in the elignment hole, epoxied it in and installed the linkage rod, maybe your V2 had a steel pin but mine didn't.
On all kits for conversion to rear intake i've installed (more than 50) , the alignement hole is not drilled on the rear side of crankcase.
On spare parts crankcases for v2 DLE30 engine received, ALL of them comes with the steel pin installed. I think the factory install the pin before machine the cylinder base to leave it flat, with both sides bolted and aligned by the steel pin.

I converted my DLE30cc engine from side intake to rear intake. If I ever decide to split the case...I will drill all the way through and install a pin. That way if I take it apart & go to putit back together, that pin will help locate thefront & rear casetogether. It is a pin for alignment. Capt,n

The engine in question and the one I am talking about is not the V1, converted to the V2 The Engine I installed the choke set up on is a New REAR CARB from the FACTORY I own 4 of these NEW V2 REAR CARB ENGINES and there is no pin in any of them

This is how NON issues become issues...You don't need an alignment pin, just bolt the cylinder on loosely, tighten the case bolts, tighten the cylinder...What pin ???
The only thing the rear case does is seal the carnkcase and provide a mount for the carb..NO stress anywhere, a few thousnandths misalignment would make no difference anywhere, the cylinder base gasket would seal just fine.

Duh, why didn't I think of using the cylinder when assembling...I used a metal straight edge to ensure the surface was flush before tightening the bolts. The cylinder method is much easier.

<hr />Antique is right there is no need for the pin. I have no pin now...the pin is in the old rear case I took off. It is a hollow pin about .018 Dia and .550 inches long. I just measured it...got the part in hands reach. The replacement rear case (rear induction) has no pin. I think the pin is in place before they machine the flat portion where the Cly base bolts to case to keep base alighment true. I have seen many locating pins used in Fullscale Continental Air Craft engines & Tank engines. Not a bad Idea....just like Antique says...no big deal...and they are NOT needed. Your choise!

Newbies I am sorry for leading you astray! Capt,n

sometimes you guys split hairs giving us newbies the impression that the dle30 has all kinds of issues when in fact theres almost nothing really wrong to begin with.and I am not including the pseudo side carb .that sinle change alone has vastly made the engine a good solid investment.

On a different note, I've been running my DLE 30 with a 18-8 Xoar prop. Last week I tried the Xoar laminated 19x8. What a difference in noise! It sounds much mellower that before. I did not get to fly much due to some new-plane-maiden flight issues that had to wait until I returned home to fix, but I'll get some time on it this week. I would not have believed that a prop change could make so much difference!

Interesting!!! I went out today with the heavy Master Airscrew prop and the motor was a bear - after running fairly well the last time out??? Switched to the APC 18-8 and same thing. Was very inconsistent. So finally got it running fairly well, but with a higher idle than I'd like and my flap servo began doing the jig. In trying to figure out what made the flap servo mad I noticed that I had a lot of vibration so I changed back to the Xoar 18-8 which I knew was balanced and threw away the spinner and back plate and WOW? No jittery flap servo - great idle, good high end and three very successful flights, one of which garnered applause as I greased in a tail high wheel landing. So after all the trial and error with the heavy plastic prop - I'm staying with the Xoar. I took the old spinner and cut it back to just a pointy thing that sits on the prop hub and threw away the back plate which had been in a few crashes. This is closer to the scale look, although not right on - but closer!! I'm getting happier and happier with the motor - Hallelujah!!

Has anyone used the single bolt conversion assembly for the 30 from Valley View I'm wanting to use my Dynathrust 20x6 and it has the molding pockets in the back side of the prop ordered a new MA classic it also has the holes oin the back side!Would be kinda hard to drill the holes for the four prop bolts and get them lined up correctly. Just wondering if the single bolt adapter might spin on the prop or if it would hold it tight enough!

The single bolt prop adapter that Valley View sells would be plenty. I have that adapter on all three of my DLE 30's, and have never had a problem. You'll love it!

So guys yall fill me in, hows the new 30 doing with a rear mount carb? Did it solve all the issues they were having?

Hi everyone:

The ignition on my DLE 30 is damaged.. I tried the ignition form the RCG 26cc engine i bought from hobbyking a while ago and works flawlessly with the DLE.

Question is there anyone that sell the an iginiton for the DLE that is not tower hobbes cause $90 for an ignition i find it too much..
Hobby king has the ignition for the 26cc which i'm using for $25 but its out of stock currently.

Does anyone know where i can find a similar ignition at a reasonable price??

What about those CDI's that hobbyking sells? I saw one that says works from 26cc to 50cc?

Do these gas engines from that range use the same ignition? I though the ignitions where individuals to each engine size..
