Hey Hannes, Your Gee Bee looks awesome! Beautiful Job! Should be getting mine back from the painter hopefully soon. He has had lots of trouble with the Seams. My Gee Bee had real sever overlap of where one side meets the other half. In order to make the Seams Vanish, He had to Carbon fiber the entire length of the seam, All seams, not just in the fuse. Then gently take the high side down to nothing, then using a special light weight resin and filler to blend the two sides back together also reinventing the panel lines he had to remove in the process. Its looking really nice at this point. He has had my Gee Bee for about two months now but it will be worth the wait. He is even doing the leading edges of the wings and tips. Just letting you guys know what your in for if you so choose to make your Seam lines Vanish. :-)

The hinges on C-arf are the top skin with a score line.. The gap in the bottom is open bevel but sealed..

I need help from you guys on the flying wires...What brand of solder and flux do you guys use for your solder joints? I want to use something that works well for a solid connection. Or should I just take them to a pro for the final solder joints?

For the price they demand for the Gee Bee there is a LOT of things C-Arf could have designed differently...IMO the flying wire situation, as you pointed out, could have had the old Hockey stick spar and use the wires to only hold the wing in, thus not relying on them for the G-Related flight forces. Secondly the Big door could have had a lip molded on the backside of the fuse opening to allow for a nice flush fit. Third, and my biggest problem, is the quality of the joining from the molding process. The lines are so obtrusive and jagged that they really detract from the inspiring lines of the Gee Bee.
Oh well, I guess until someone else comes out with a "Arf" Big Gee Bee we will have to just deal with it....

Yea Rick, You are right about the seams for sure...with the quality of composite molding these days, a seamless fuse would be no problem at all. I got started on mine this evening, mains are done and plan on the tail wheel tomorrow Took a pic of the sky friday evening, weird!! 15 minutes after this pic, 40mph winds and torrential rainfall!!

I had a big problem to take the Gee Bee to the RC field. My Audi A3 is too little for this airplane.
SoI bought a trailer. The look of it was not good, so I decided to "pimp" it
What do you think?
1h after I bought it:
Paint in black:
rims:
Some Gee Bee decals:

Hi Guys, thought I'd post some progress photos of my build. It's actually my first full composite airframe build, so I've made a few mistakes along the way, but seems to be progressing ok.
