Easy peazy, and the motor is bang on re centering, and as I ALWAYS re-loctite all motor bolts, it didn't really add too much work to do it that way.

My second one is now complete, just waiting on my new spinner and prop. They build a lot faster when all your servos, extensions and pushrods are already setup. I guess that's the only adavantage of crashing and replacing like for like. Everything just drops right back in,lol.

She looks fantastic Jerry, I really like the looks of that model!
As for the engine tip - no worries, helping people with little tricks is what these forums should be all about (well that and ogling other peoples stunning looking work and models)

If she flies half as good as she looks, you'll be onto a winner there!

thanks for your quick response. I was pretty sure you would have some goods things to say about your Slick 540. I have a 30cc Slick 540 and it IS my favorite plane to fly. been wanting to move up to a 50cc and I think this one will fit the bill. the price is also very reasonable. I just hope the weight is also reasonable.enjoy your plane buddy, that thing is beautiful.

I am very glad to find this thread. I will be ordering my 50cc Slick 540 in the next few days or so. I will be going with all electric setup. This will be my first big electric flyer. I read nothing but good things about Fly-Models and their customer support which is the main reason for buying from them. I'm very excited!!!

Jerry,

I'm interested in the YAK 55SP and I'm wondering what the strange looking lines are on the wings in the pics. If it is seams from the covering then I have never in all my years seen a seam stick out so much. Also it looks like the control horns go all the way through the wing and stab and show on the top side. Never seen this done either. How bad does that show up on the top side? Thanks for the help.

I saw a picture somewhere on the net that showed that small part has to be glued on. from the seam you see back to the trailing edge is separate to the wing and needs to be glued on. I also noticed the control horns you mention. I have the yellow & black slick 540 ordered. hope the control horns holes don't go completely through, no go reason that.

If those are indeed blocks that have to be glued on I will definitely not be buying one. That to me is the sign of a cheap made airframe. The control horns do go all the way through the control surfaces.

In the 7th picture in post #4 you can very clearly see the blocks need to be glued. I don't believe that makes this kit a bad quality, but I would like to know why it is that way.

Okay well its done now. Slick 540 is now on order along with a bunch of electrics. I will be using a Rimfire 65cc, ESC 160a HV, and either 2x 6s 8000 or 2x 6s 5800. The 8000 will add about a pound and a half but give longer flight time. I will try both and order more of whichever preforms better. If its OK, I will post build pic's as I go.

Burkeke9825 i think they make it were you have to glue them so in shipping it does not break off and it could be so it fits better and im sorry for the late reply and im glad you got one you will love it XD

gluing these small pieces on isn't a big deal to me. the overall price of this plane by far makes up for it. to me anyway. we all ways need to do a little reinforcing and changing anyway. this will be my first 50cc, I think I can make this work.

I have been building, buying, and flying planes for some time. There has never been an issue with that section of the wing breaking off with any brand plane that I have ever heard of. I think they must have been using scrap pieces to save on cost. Anyway, I guess I'm just use to the high end planes such as Aeroworks, 3DHS, and Pilot RC. Hope you guys enjoy your planes. it's all about if you think you got a good deal and if you enjoy flying it.

Theres always got to be at least one naysayer. I've been building and flying for some time also. Guess what, there's nothing low end about this plane. I've had some real turds from big name manufacturers. The "blocks" you speak of actually key in into the wing and are hardly noticeable. It allows for the box dimension to be smaller by quite a bit. These are definitely not scrap pieces.

Everyone at at my field is blown away by the airplane. We all fly big name, high end stuff and not a single person can find anything to complain about with these planes. Matter of fact, there are going to be a bunch more at my field soon. All sharing trailers with aeroworks, pilot Rc, krill, 3dhs and comp arfs.
