I've seen others that have used the HS-81 w/o problems and I have one that I plan on putting in a smaller gasser but haven't decided on the yak servo.

Today in balmy Illinois I had the pleasure of seeing Wayne fly his Yak. Impressive and awesome are two words to conservatively describe the action. It just looks right in the air and is married to the DA50. Anyone who get this plane in the air is going to have a terrific experience and it sure does "fly big" to the eye of an observer....very happy I had the chance to see the Yak up close...Thanks Guys!

I was just about to hand the TX over to Lou but on takeoff the plane nosed over and broke the prop.
It was kinda like when a wheel locks up.. Both wheels were free spinning after we checked them.
Need a new prop now..
Lou had to watch us fly boring IMAC crap the rest of the day..

I had to get this DA fuel dot! Looks too cool 
Although dot doesn't really do it justice... I need one for the smoke too, might use a traditional sized one for that....
I switched to bigger bolts for the cowl mounting.... the stock ones seemed a little small too me.

ummmm..... same thing happened to my yak! it nosed over after a perfect 3 point landing! the plane land, and when I was bringing the plane back to me the tail came up and my prop hit the ground!
I did the same! check for a tight wheel! and nothing wrong with it!
I also need a new prop! I think I am not going to use the mejslik! I am going to get a 24 x 8 Menz!

A WORD OF ADVICE!!!
I just started building my Yak this weekend So far a pretty pleasureable build, but I did kind of do something wrong and thought I might point it out.
When assembling the rudder control horn, you will notice that the slots in the rudder are wider to allow you to slide the control horns through. Well, the instructions don't say to slide the horns to the for or aft end of the slot, so I used a little common sense and figured they should be forward, as this puts the ball links directly over the hinge line. Upon installing the rudder to the fuse, after the fact, I found that I have lost a lot of travel as a result. The horns slap the fuse at about 45 degrees of throw! I know that's decent travel, but once I get the cables rigged and ball links on, I will probably not be able to get 40 degrees.
Moral of the story is to slide the horns to theAFT end of the slots and you should be able to get 45+ degrees no problem.

While the instructions may not say "to slide the horns to the for or aft end of the slot", on Pg. 17, item 26, clearly advises to "measure so that the holes in the ends of the rudder horn are equidistant from the hinge line and in-line with the hinge line."[/i]

I actually don't think it is going tpo make much difference and the truth is you don't need more than 40 degrees anyway. We were recovering from Knife edge loops this weekend with half that throw and no throtle. If you have to much you will start ot experience coupling with no added benfit.

As a gasser neophyte, I had the gears fail on an HS-81MG on the throttle on my OMP GS540P with the MVVS 2.15 gasser after 25 flights. Switched to a HS-225MG and still good after 35 flights. I also fixed the linkage not to flex like it had prior. My inexperience contributed to the failure, but a stronger gear wouldn't have failed as easily. I am definitely going with full size metal gear digital servo for throttle this time. Any recommendations that aren't just blatant overkill?

My tail draggers tend to want to nose over. Holding elevator to keep the tail stuck down is what I have to do, or the result is a broken prop.

Doug, the hitec 5245MG is what I will be using on the throttle. Digital servos come back to the same spot every time, for a consistent idle speed.

Did you experience any changes in the running of the DA-50 with the Pressure fitting modification installed? Does it Idle better, or have better midrange? I got my modification kit from DA on Friday and am planning to install it this week.
