Just added a BME 37% Ultimate to my hanger, I cannot believe they can sell this plane for $649.99. The quality is first rate, extremely well built, the parts fit perfect. Only small complaint was there is no manual with the plane, you have to download it off the BME site, but that was no problem, and the supplied flying wire set up.
Set it up with a DA-100, all JR 8611a servos. Maiden flight last week. Only got to fly it twice last week because the clevises on the flying wires kept breaking. Replaced all the flying wire and hardware with Du-Bro quick connect clevises with locks and flew it all day Saturday and Sunday.
I cannot even start to describe how this thing flyes, the only thing that comes to mind is WOW, Fantastic! I love it. Solid as a rock. Harrier- NO WING ROCK at all, Snaps are a thing of beauty, Rolls are quick and straight. Wonderfull plane.
I could not found a lot this plane on RCU, so I just thought I would let anyone that was considering it know, you will not regret it. It is one darn nice plane.

Can anyone give us some detailed pics?---Motor/box, Landing gear & mounting structure---How does the bottom wing mount?---Not to worry; For all this effort we will put you on the "Payroll" !---Any balance issues with the DA100?---I would like to use a BME110---

Hey guys, Wayne is right. It is a beautifully built plane. It is one of the squarest one I've put together yet. Mine is still a few weeks away from flying, but waynes making me want to hurry up and get-r-done.
I did find in my box that the canopy was cracked and I had two left elavators, but a call to max and he had them on the way. Also the 4/40 bolts go in the trash can.
I will get some pics later.
Wayne, what is your weight? (the plane)

I've been flying my BME Ultimate with a BME 110 and Pefa LL cans for a couple years. No problem with balancing with or without the cans. Flys great with the CG set just behind the aft recomended balance point.
Weight is 27.8 lbs using eight JR 8611s with a dual battery/receiver setup. The only effort put into weight reduction was using a carbon fiber MLG, saved 10 ounces.

I finally got the funds for servos and a BME 110. Mine is 29+ lb's. 8 Hitec 5955 servos and dual recievers/batterys. my plane is the prototype model so maybe thats why its a little heavy. Any sugestions on how to trim some weight off. Lou

In addition to the CF landing gear, I changed to a CF spinner because the aluminum one cracked. Not a big fan of CF spinners but thought I'd give it a try, this saved about 6 ounces.
Removed the wheel pants and positioned the battery pack behind the canopy so the 3 oz. of tail weight was removed.
Don't use flying wires but set-up still takes over 10 minutes.
Considering going to KS tuned pipes as an experiment to increase power. My BME 110 powered Composite-arf weights less than 25 lbs, such an over-powered model is spoiling me.

Wow, leaving off functional flying wires is very brave. This is a nice plane even so, the thin wings are pretty flexable. It seems to me the plane wouldn't track well with them off or maybe even break!
I did however change the way the wires run from the top wing and that shortens the set-up time. I will transport mine with the right side wings attached, if it's the only plane going to the field.
I'm still waiting on my ignition to come back, before I maiden mine.

I think the instructions from the BME website said the flying wires were non-functional. I've been doing some violent 3D manuvers without incident and the airframe is still solid.
I put flying wires on the stab because I've had flutter issues on other models.

Don't remember the exact gear purchased, just bought one with the closest measurements.
- 3D rates were the maximum the surfaces would allow, elevator was about 60 degrees.
- Normal rate elevator was about 3/4" to 1" up and down. This was still a little sensative since the CG was set 1/8" aft of the recomended aft point. Normal rate rudder and aileron were about 60% of the max rate.
- Engine thrust was +3/4 deg to achieve hands-off uplines. Inverted flight required slight forward stick.
- Upper wing was about +1 3/4 deg if I remember correctly.

Mine should be here Friday, It will be months befor funds are available for engine and servos.
Question: manual indicates a difference in aileron throws between uppper and lower wing,
Are you following the manual or setting both wings the same??

Mine took me about 1 year to raise the money for the servos and motor but its ready finally. BME 110, 2 Futaba 8 channel PCM receivers, 8 Hitec 5955 Titanium Geared servos at 333 oz of torque each. SWB self adjusting rudder tray with 2 of the 5955TGs for 666 oz torqur for rudder, carbon fiber wing tubes and stab tubes. 29.5lbs. I'm hoping tp test fly in the morning or on Monday.

Hey Guys,
I sold two of my BME's to buy this plane. $650 was just too much to resist. It just arrived today and spent the afternoon unpacking it. The goal is to have this thing together in the next two weeks. I'll try to post some pictures in the coming days of the assembly. It will be nice to have a second wing back in the hanger. I seen one of these fly last year and have wanted one ever since. This plane is a little hard to hide from the wife so I may be in the dog house for a while.
