I am in the process of building a 27% Skyshark Christen Eagle II ... my second one [:@] ... and will be trying the Evolution 45GX on this one. I have the Evolution 58GX in a 27% BMEAircraft Pitts Challenger and it is a powerhouse. The 45GX shows to have a little more HP than the DA50 and quite a bit lighter. I will gather some thrust numbers and let everybody know. Maybe the 45GX will be a good combo for the Python If not ... the 58GX will go in mine.

John,

I have a Python on order. I am looking forward to its' eventual arrival. I do have a question. What is the inside diameter of the cowl? I think a 3W 56i B2 might be an interesting choice for an engine.

Jim

Hello,

I got a digital scale today and weighed the Pitts. One pic with the remote read out on the floor and a better picture with it on the wing showing it weighs 2oz's. So far were on target. Don't forget to reserve yours today..

Thanks
John

I wonder if 10.75 will accomodate the DA Stock Muff with a small cut ala the Yaks.

Can't wait for this bird, been thinking about her everyday, drool.

The Python scheme is growing on me, but I ordered a red one....love the scallops.

John,

I noticed that the wing tubes are aluminum. What are the dimensions on the wing tubes? Will Troy Built Models carry CF tube replacements?

Thanks,

Jim

PS I have a brand new 3w-56b2 Competition ready to go in this bird.

I sure hope they will make those tubes CF at TBM.

Bipeaddict, I am flying a Sig Sundancer with DA-50 and smoke , and even fully loaded the DA pulls this thing straight up , 23x8 Menz @ 6900 29lbs thrust measured with a Rappala 50lb gauge.

Will that 3W 56 provide similar numbers?? I have always wanted a 3W. Does that have the 2 LED ignition safe start system??

If I use a DA, I HAVE to use the stock muffler, no other provides better tuning. I just won;t settle for a pitts muffler, I have done my own static testing and am convinced that the stocker is best .

What muffler is best on that 3w??

Bosshossv8,

This is my first 3w twin. Someone else will have to give the numbers on this engine. All I know is from the 3W website which says the stock 3w-56 is rated at 5.5 HP. The competition version of the engine is rated at 12-14 percent stronger. I was hoping to turn a 24-8 prop at 6500.

I purchased the supersonic muffler system for the 3w.

I have a Sig Sundancer with a DA50 and Pitts muffler. I run a 23x8 CF Mejzlick. The PT 23x8 CF prop is actually lighter than the Mejzlick. It has great vertical. However, if you snap it on a upline it will continue to climb but won't accelerate like I want it too. I think my Sig is coming in around 18lbs.

I was hoping for a little more power from the 3W than my DA 50, in order to offset the additional weight of the engine. Then all I was looking for less vibration than a single.

So if someone is running the 3W-56b2 competition engine how about some numbers?

Hi,
I have been wanting a bipe for a while now. I always thought it would be an ultimate, until I saw the 50cc M12 at the Joe Nall this year.
My question the differences between the M12 and the Python. Especially any differences in flying characteristics. Thanks for any info.

Just ordered mine! I have an extra DA-50R that'll be perfect for this plane! I'll have 3 bipes in the "hanger". DP Ultimate, GP Ultimate, and Aerotech Pitts Python! I have been drooling over and talking about the Pitts Python ever since I saw the Joe Nall pics. Cheers!

LOL, all your planes are daily fliers Boss. Wish I could say the same for my own.

I'm trying to figure out which one you stripped down now.<G>

I've been holding off on ordering this one, but I doubt I can do it for very much longer.

I stripped the KMP Yak I was flying with the squirrels in the cockpit.

I thoroughly thrashed that bird and it is on the block. The motor is broke in and ready for the Pitts M-12 ....I I ordered this bird the day or day after he was taking deposits. I want the first one. I want the first one....repeat ad nauseum.

My Sundancer will be collecting dust. There can only be one Bipe in my ready to fly hangar. This is it.

Whirly, i know you are gonna do the same to that AW .....strip her and stuff the pitts.

Easy, Easy,.....I said in my "ready to fly" hangar. I keep the rest on stand-by in the shop.
