Welcome to Club SAITO !
Those throttle linkage setups do work well but bending the throttle control rod into a 180° loop accomplishes the same thing and gets rid of monkey motion parts.

Jim, I "think" the reply FINALLY went through , after typing, sending that resulted in blanko screens.

Thanks guys and yes the 60t throttle setup is crazy the 90ts I have is not this bad. I need it to miss the gas tank and miss the frame and be a barrel type. Here is a example of one but it is not a barrel type. I might have to end up making something.
The backordered con rod finally came in for my fa82, fits looser than my og rod so I'll just reuse the og. Since no one here seemed to have a problem with the pic I posted of my piston top flaws I'll reuse it as well. The ring lands, skirt and rod pin bore are all in new condition so why not. I'll be slapping this money pit back together soon with a new piston ring so it should run great now.
NEW PARTS LIST:
Cam
Cam pin
Tappets
Bearings
Piston Ring
Push Rod Cover Seals
A ton of tinkering fun
Lonnie (aka glowy?)
Edit: Add a carb oring kit to that list

In the middle of the fun part.
Wait a minute, the Fun part cancels out the money pit part, honest
PS, my grandson adds Bob to everybody's name, so you would be GlowBob.

I’m sure the trombone method works as well as the monkey motion method but the later offers less slop IMO. Not that a throttle barrel requires much force to move. That’s why I prefer smaller servos for throttle.

I’m wondering if I just bought a money pit as well? Recieved a Saito 72a yesterday that needs new bearings and maybe a carb o-ring kit. Was told it turns over smooth. Once again, the main bearing is seized and spinning on the crankshaft.

Why not just use a cable? It's all I ever use for the 4 strokes and I have a few that the throttle arm almost touches the firewall. The trick I found is to slot the outside part of the firewall, and leave the inside part the diameter of the sheath, this allows the cable to move with the arc of the throttle arm and not bind. It also makes it easy to route around the fuel tank and battery pack.

Funny.
I agree, the money means little to me if the 82 performs well. Just the enjoyment of knowing I got it running right is enough. Every time I fly it I'll be thinking, "Wow, listen to that thing go"!

You're gonna cringe when I say this but I did use JB Weld to fix a preowned OS46AX with that very problem. The new bearing was not a perfect slip fit once the crank was cleaned up; about .003" of slop. I cleaned the bearing inner race and crank with crc brakeclean, applied a small amount of JB Weld and put it together. Flown it for 2 yrs that way and it still runs good, well as good as OS can.....heehee

Yikes!!! I hope it doesn’t come to that. I had to replace the bearings on my 65 after a season of running it. I put ARO in it and hung the model nose down and still had rusty bearings the following spring. Went with SS bearings and still has them in there. They were a very tight fit to get out and new ones back in.

Sounds interesting, as long as it doesn't gum up. I would probably shy away from castor in an ARO for 4S engines, It only takes a little gumming in the tappet tubes to stop the tappets from freely rotating.
I use "Waylube" in ARO. It is made for lathe, mill and other machine ways. A tacky, long chain oil stock, it can cling to vertical surfaces for loong periods of time.
However, I do use castor at 2% in my four stroke fuel with no gumming problems at all.

That's a good trick. The 82 on my Sbach is mounted so far back I had to cut the slot all the way through the firewall for clevis clearance, then I fabricated a small plywood bracket to capture the throttle cable sheath about 2" behind the firewall. Works wonderfully. There's always a way but sometimes we have to be creative.
