Do you wrap the joints with thin copper wire before soldering? Its a habit I picked up when I was a kid from my R/C mentor back in the stone age.

Yep, that is where I discovered the flux shell. I didn't get it completely removed from where the wire sticks up. Had to put my readers on to see it.

Jim, Douglas asked me to convey this to you: "For size, in a 'plane, the critical one is the width, then the total height (if there's a cockpit canopy, for instance..?). From thereon, it's pretty much all done."

But someone did notice the tail of the Deweyville.

I need to work on my humor I guess.

I saw it as the pilot figure being in his cups! I did chuckle at the legs sticking out so I did get the joke.

I was afraid if I said anything, some saintly moderator would pluck the picture.

But it was said with love! Oh and thank you for setting the example and using "skipper" instead of a more appropriate word frowned upon as inappropriate for this forum.

SMH, one would think kids come to this forum. They are over in the drone and ARF electric motors section. Hardly anyone under 30 even knows what a Saito is. LMAO.

LOL Mike, perfect ! your the best !!
I was going to tell you he should have a flying cap and googles because the plane has an open cockpit.

see my pilot in my posted photos, Piglet only needs to be a "Bust"> cut off a round mid belly or so. my pilot is 71mm tall, and width (side to side) is 80mm and he fits perfect, and you can see in the photos there is room for a bigger belly if Piglet has one LOL LOL funny stuff,

to add, see the photo again, the top of the Head Rest is 71mm, so Piglts head should not be taller than 67, 68mm, so his ears will be over 71mm because it's an open cockpit. if your friend find's he needs to make the top of Piglet's head a few mm shorter/taller that will also be OK with me.

oh I just thought, I don't know how strong that plastic is, so if he need to build reinforcements behind the ears that too is no problem, we don't want those big ears flapping in the wind and braking off ..

LOL thank you thank you !! tell your friend I will pay shipping and his time if he wants, tell him "thank you big time" for me !!

I will PM you,
Jim

Mike, I will edit my post above, I decided I want the top of his head shorter, about 67, 68mm

sorry for the other edits, I went to the eye Dr today and she put those drops in my eyes, I didn't get in to see her until 10 of 5pm and my eyes are still a bit fussy, I'm good to go, but in a year or so I may need to start getting new prescriptions every 8 or 10 months, even sooner as the years go by .

thank you !!!
Jim

Jim I sent you a reply to your PM and copied your post to Douglas. Please send an email directly to Douglas tomorrow so you guys can work out the details like mailing address etc. Good luck with your new Piglet!

To acdii: I was wondering about Pete too. I hope the fires didn't get his place it would burn down in seconds with all the beer he has stockpiled! I heard a malicious rumor the Aussie beer Pete has on hand is just for show, turns out he only drinks American light beer.

Yeah, its a bald face lie but I thought if anything would get him to reply that would! Either that or show up on my doorstep and give me a good old Aussie beat down.

Jim I received this in my email this morning:

Good morning, Mike..

Taking into account the dimensions required, here's an approximation of what Piglet will look like, including a rough guide 'in the cockpit'. The proportions of Piglet are far from those of a human, and, if I use the original form, the pilot would not be a bust, but simply the head. In order to get some shoulder in, and still retain the constraints given, I've 'squashed down' the bust. Pass these over to Jim, if you would, to see if that's acceptable..? No worries for the ears flapping, the PLA material used is quite rigid enough without reinforcements, I'm sure.

Default Hobbsy

Just got a phone call from Hobbsy. He and Geri were on the return side of their trip and came down with the bug that has been going around. Geri was getting pretty bad so the checked in to the local hospital. She has been dealing with a bout of pneumonia. Dave said things now seem to be on the up-tick and they may be able to resume the ride home tomorrow .

He also contacted W8YE who may have posted a report in another area of RCU.

Keep Dave and Geri in your thoughts and prayers.

I'm glad they went to the hospital with Geri's immune system already compromised by pneumonia. A new infection could be devastating.
